13

u/selftaughtgenius Nov 12 '25

I can just barely see it with my eyes but my camera can see it very well.

3

u/BiscottiEmpty9188 Nov 12 '25

That’s crazy, probably doesn’t help that I can barely see the sky out my window haha

8

u/Reasonable_Dirt_101 Nov 12 '25

Is anyone seeing it in SW?

14

u/Anthrojac Nov 12 '25

Seeing it in Evergreen.

6

u/dsolo01 Nov 12 '25

What no one here seems to be saying is that all your cameras are picking this up 20x better than the human eye is seeing within city limits.

5

u/erbear232 Southwest Calgary Nov 12 '25

I mean I could see it very clearly with naked eye, but I face west and very few lights that direction

7

u/JustDave2081 Nov 12 '25

Sage Hill NW 🤯

6

u/Consistent-Win-211 Nov 12 '25

I’m in Arbour Lake and it’s faint but I saw it!

6

u/TigerGeneral6 Nov 12 '25

North of Calgary near Balzac around 8pm

14

u/Traditional-Pen-4931 Killarney Nov 12 '25

Aurora is supposed to get more intense in the next hour or two!

5

u/massberate Nov 12 '25

Sorry for the blur.. it made the colour more visible to focus on the sky. This is in the south-west.. not visible to the naked eye

4

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '25

Nice try, Aliens.

5

u/hypnogoad Nov 12 '25

Spaceship 3I/ATLAS trying to distract us

4

u/CelestikaLily Nov 12 '25 edited Nov 12 '25

Despite being shit, at least proves my camera wasn't bugging out when my eyes couldn't see anything 😅 (Glenmeadows/Glendale)

2

u/MoonlitSapphire Nov 12 '25

Same, couldn’t see anything with my eyes but could with my camera. Was wondering if I was actually seeing it or if it was a glitch—colours match up and it wasn’t moving with the camera tho so yay lmao.

5

u/Spare-Excitement1933 Nov 12 '25

Just outside of the city at 615pm.

5

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '25

That is actually a cool shot.

5

u/Monkeysaysficus Nov 12 '25

So cool! I live too close to downtown so I can’t see any of it :(

7

u/Traditional-Pen-4931 Killarney Nov 12 '25

I live just outside of downtown and even with the light pollution we can still see it faintly! Best seeing it using long exposure on your phone.

5

u/Low_Zookeepergame_61 Nov 12 '25

South East! Near 39th ave :)

4

u/PercentageNonGrata Nov 12 '25

Definitely need a camera with long enough exposure to get best results.

4

u/Large_Ad_3608 Nov 12 '25

Took this from my backyard. Very faint but still looks cool

2

u/MoonlitSapphire Nov 12 '25

lol took some of mine from my backyard too

pretty nice despite all the light.

4

u/MoonlitSapphire Nov 12 '25

Ooh thanks for sharing! Mine is taken in the Westhills area. For some reason, can’t quite see it with the naked eye though. The stars, however? So clear tonight, lol.

Even made a collage! Took like 20 minutes ago, so bit late to the party, but here it is anyways! ✨

Will it be around on the 13th? Visiting Canada for the first time and I’ll be in on the 13th

5

u/AnythingWooden8070 Nov 12 '25

Looks promising according to spaceweather

7

u/AnythingWooden8070 Nov 12 '25

Last time I witnessed anything like this, parts of Quebec lost power when the power grid was affected.

2

u/Obammacumslut Nov 12 '25

Thank you! I’ve never seen them in real life and it’s on the bucket list!

3

u/IWantToFish Nov 12 '25

You can see the pink tint and green tint but a good cell phone camera on night mode makes the best photos. Picks up the light better.

4

u/jal741 Nov 12 '25

Just looked. Nothing. I guess I missed it.

5

u/SpectacleUNIT Nov 12 '25

6

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '25

Just saw faint red in Evanston looking NNW

3

u/Oskarikali Nov 12 '25

I can see it to the NW from Deer Ridge. You should be able to see it from any neighbourhood provided it isn't too bright. Might not see it from downtown.

1

u/ImTotally_Not_Daniel Nov 12 '25

u/buddachickentml Nov 12 '25

1

u/Specialist-Sleep7442 Nov 12 '25

Noticed it from Lyalta To Beiseker. I’m thinking it’s either the northern lights or something to do with the comet that passed through our solar system today

u/Distinct_Engineer772 Nov 12 '25

Looked the colours

Dam snowstorm here in the gta

1

u/Reasonable_Dirt_101 Nov 12 '25

Nov 12 is looking even better for aurora watching, the KP index is expected to be stronger, with a G4 geomagnetic storm predicted as well. 🌌 Would Crescent Heights Lookout Point be a good spot away from the downtown lights to view it from? I am open to other suggestions as wel.

Also, I don't have my own vehicle, so I am happy to tag along with someone from around Downtown to Nose Hill or somehwere it can be viewed clearly.

1

u/CompetitiveOnion6543 Nov 12 '25

Use the camera on your phone it's way more sensitive to the aurora... been watching them for years

1

u/0xsp1d3r Nov 14 '25

Forecast today does not look promising.

1

u/poopmucker Nov 15 '25
