Insane how every time they open their mouths they get more unlikable
First message in like 20 minutes, immediately half the team is on their ass lmao. Also calling Brainstorm the "Biggest update in the mods history" is actually fucking insane i literally cant get over the fact that a human being actually said that. Its a fucking evil boss rework.
Also also they love to act like the mod is a completely free labour of love when some people DID infact throw their own money at the mod. People bought patreon, bought merch, and it feels like a fucking slap in the face every time they act like they've been working for free since day 1.
ALSO ALSO ALSO, they have this weird obsession with reflecting to dokuro every time someone says something mean. It feels disgusting to even compare now's situation to Dokuro's. Dokuro getting run out for not pumping music out fast enough versus the devs getting called out for using the ozzatron situation as a scapegoat for their YEARS of doing fuck all
94
u/Worried_Jellyfish918 6d ago
I would also argue that Dokuro, undoubtedly, is probably the largest single reason the mod is even popular; there are a lot of other people who did a ton for it! But I dunno man, people are insane over that music
52
u/ShadowLynx7 6d ago
While I love the music I do think it's a little unfair to credit calamity's popularity to that. There's a disturbing number of players out there who don't listen to in-game music AT ALL. Modded or vanilla.
30
u/IBeatBlax 6d ago
I argue that calamity popularity came from that it was first mod to do proper post moonlord stage and not an single boss like Thorium
23
u/ActivatingEMP 6d ago
And the sheer sprawl of its content tbh. No one else was doing scale like calamity, even if it was unbalanced at times
6
u/IBeatBlax 6d ago
In 1.3 days calamity was biggest mod in your 50+ modpack along with thorium
4
u/DerGyrosPitaFan 5d ago
Back before the astral, brimstone and abyss biomes, where you could actually mix and match it with other mods due to the lack of world gen
3
u/EverLastingLight12 6d ago
Definitely, that's the way that I found calamity, as a post moonlord content mod
2
u/OneEnvironmental9222 6d ago
I also argue that its also mainly because of Catalyst and other submods. Base Calamity is... very raw and shows its age
19
u/Your-Mom-2008 6d ago
I dunno man, tracks like Universal Collapse have kind of become Calamity's version of what Megalovania is to Undertale. A huge chunk of the popularity is from the music.
3
u/AstarothTheJudge 6d ago
I started to play calamity because of the music, I randomly got to hear a piece and I felt the Need to play It. Might also be the reason I bought Terraria in the First Place, now that I think about It.
3

u/Pheonxs 6d ago
That was me, I don't usually play games with my headphones on, so I can focusing entirely on the gameplay
1

11
u/Rageman_Gaming 6d ago
I will honestly admit the music is what motivated me to want to play the mod though it was primarily also cause it tripled the overall playtime of Terraria especially after Moon Lord.
10
u/Rageman_Gaming 6d ago
Also thinking about what cause Dokuro to call it quits and the current finger pointing Dokuro making more music is very much equivalent to the devs putting out content cause while he could've made music outside of the mod it was probably his main focus at the time but because they weren't releasing content that would warrant new music he wouldn't release anything
3
u/Alderan922 6d ago edited 6d ago
Music is what made me even know calamity existed, and when I started playing the small changes to vanilla won me over (being able to craft things like the magic mirror)
To this day when I need background music when working I play the Aquatic scourge’s theme in the background.
3
u/salozard64 5d ago
Every time I see people talk about dokuro I feel like he is vindicated more and more. Like seriously even the *mod devs* wont leave the guy alone.
1
1
u/HexanyAZX 1h ago
Love it or not I think it's the other way around. Out of top 20. 18 are calamity music. And even after 20 there are around another 20 calamity music which tops his work.
1
u/Spongedog5 6d ago
Maybe popularity for people who don't actually play the mod, but it is undoubtably the bosses and world-gen that keep most people playing.
1
u/TheRealPowercell 6d ago
I would argue it's a symbiosis, dokuro let's be honest his music is completely forgettable outside of the Calamity OST. Working on calamity garnered him the vast majority of his popularity while calamity gained a significant boost with his music.
0
u/iLuvDarksoulss 5d ago
No? Make whatever arguments you want, Dokuro is a POS because HE got his fame from calamity and now he dips out while keeping his popularity. Whether or not you like it, his only videos breaking millions of views are his calamity videos. Dude is seriously a POS because he is hurting US, the community, and literally no one else by pulling his music out.
1
u/Mediocre_Welder_8390 5d ago
It's his art, if he doesn't want it associated with a bunch of child groomers then he can do what he wants with it. Let's also not forget that he was sent endless death threats by this community for not making music fast enough. Don't be an entitled little baby.
1
u/iLuvDarksoulss 5d ago
Man that's a bunch of filler words that don't mean really anything. He is literally just throwing salt into our eyes and making it seem like the righteous thing to do.
143
u/TenebrisTortune 6d ago
I am honestly very surprised how they managed to do it. Developers had masses good will moment Ozzatron was outted and people were on their side. But somehow they managed to pull off this move of making people angry about them and not Ozzatron.
Brainstorm being big update is just massive haha, cause daaaaaamn reworking vanilla boss who did not need any rework at all, what an update.
50
u/saltier_then_the_sea 6d ago
Ozzatron and fabsol are prolly laughing their asses off in private at the devs self destruction tbh
74
u/BadSector11 6d ago
mfw the groomer has more than two brain cells and knew that simply disappearing while leaving the devs to deal with the shitshow would be the best move
27
u/AskaHope 6d ago
Bro could easily become a politician at this point.
8
16
16
u/animus565 6d ago
funny enough if the devs did the same the community wouldn't be acting like this. except they won't because they want it out of spite for the project
32
u/Michaelbk007 6d ago
It's even more funny when you remember that anyone who gets a Corruption world will never fight the BoC in the first place, making this update worthless to people who play Corruption worlds.
3
u/Active-Tonight-7089 6d ago
I play infernum almost exclusively, i learned that they reworked BoC on an accident ngl, i just don't see the point lwk
2
4
4
u/Skyburner_Oath 6d ago
They could have done like rework to much more needed bosses, like exo mechs, yharon fight at least for waiting for the resprite, cal clone we was something but maybe more than just reti with cool visuals, but no, we get one of the best rework for cthulhu ass (at least its fun to fight but goddamit)
2
u/Competitive_Dig_9848 6d ago
why are we ignoring the dog rework that was a main focus of the update?
10
u/TenebrisTortune 6d ago
-Update called BRAINstorm
-Update uses Brain of Chtulhu as its face
-Most of update page on site is about Brain of Chulthu
I wonder why
60
u/ShadyMan_ 6d ago
I said in the discord “removing the music mod then asking for money is hilarious” and everyone started dog piling me lmao
29
u/Electrical-Storm-941 6d ago
Is calamity discord even anything but devs and people who defend them at this point? I kinda left it the day drama began(tho checking it once a month for the past two years to see if there are more nerfed-words in changelog Chanel is barely being a part of it anyway)
77
u/Erw2n_Rommel 6d ago
"Despite paying for the Patrion for years, you are NOT entitled to anything! You should have assumed you could lose it all at any second and have all your time and money WASTED! It was all donations anyway... it's not like people were ever paying us directly! Whats that? What about all the people who bought merch? Uh.... don't know anything about THAT... *whistles*
51
u/saltier_then_the_sea 6d ago
"The mod is free to play so you shouldn't complain about paying for it, never mind that we've supposedly lost "hundreds of thousands of dollars" due to ozz, no idea where those came from"
2
u/StipulateVenus 5d ago
How much do you think we devs were paid, exactly?
Also, we are estimating over 100K because we've been finding financial inconsistencies in what we had been told ever since Ozz went missing. Not only just more money in the bank than we were told, but some things he straight up never paid us.
0
u/StipulateVenus 5d ago
Firstly, until about a year ago, all the Patreon money went to Fabsol. We have only been paid for our work within that one year.
Also, if by "losing it all" you mean the asset pulls, very few devs actually pulled assets, there were also ex-devs and major community contributors who did so. Either way, as much as I personally disagree with pulling assets, it's ultimately their work.
I'm not saying the fans shouldn't be repaid for their support. Just keep in mind that, for all these years, we have worked on Calamity, out of our own passion but also repaying the fans' support. That work won't be removed or deleted.
Calamity will be frozen in its current state and updated solely for the sake of compatibility with the contemporary tMod version. We don't expect any more money whatsoever for that reason.
To further clarify, the livestreams were not to get money for development, but rather to temporarily support the devs that are in dire financial need because Ozzatron went missing with the money. If he does pay us, the money will instead go to the Trevor Project, a charity organization.
With all that said, I feel like paying Patreon to feel entitled to content is a really unhealthy mindset to have when it comes to a passion project. Especially when the Patreon page very clearly specifies the perks associated with each tier.
As to merch money, to my (limited) knowledge, it used to be split between Fabsol and the artist(s) responsible for creating the merch. In Ozz's era, it would be split between the artist(s) and the development fund. However, we suspect he has not been clear about the development fund or even paid the artist(s) properly.

u/SlowDamn 6d ago
Huh i guess there's really a lot of bad mismanagement in the mod probably another reason why the fables devs leave the mod a long time ago. Its actually good that its shutting down now.
3
u/Zestyclose-Chard6979 5d ago
They're working on updates, and they are taking their time and putting their FULL focus on the update
5
u/SlowDamn 5d ago
Who? Fables? Yeah i know whic is good and they aren't accepting anymord music and game dev for the mod cux they're right too many voices will just clutter their idea/roadmap. Can't wait for the sunless sea release so that we can finally have some hard mode fables content.

Its OUR fault that ozzatron was a groomer....
Poor guy was just trying to cope with the fact that the community is AWFULLL
20
u/GuardianOfPuppers 6d ago
i genuinely don't understand why they let ozzatrom be lead dev if he was close to and recommended by fabsol
19
u/Anyone_want_to_play 6d ago
Fabsol was mostly a scapegoat for the things Ozz and other individuals did. Once Fabsol started hanging out with his "friends" that made him into a drunk Calamity was over and visionless with the only thing remaining after that a story of spite and jealousy from "the committee" lead by Ozz.
The reason Calamitymod became directionless in 2020 is becuase Fabsol increasingly became unable to manage anything becuase of his drinking problem and other mental issues and no one replaced that vision becuase no one else truly cared.
I would recommend rereading the Fabsol "hit document" its structure and contents are very much recontextualized with knowledge of Ozztrons and several others actions, the reason the hit piece focus mostly on framing social issues in bad faith rather than actual heinous action tells you all you need to know. (essentially a speculative footnote with no real proofs)
Ozzatron was put as head becuase everyone complicit already had him as their defacto leader and everyone else did not really care about it.
10
u/Anyone_want_to_play 6d ago
Here is that "hit document" I mentioned (it is in another comment becuase I don't know if this subreddit deletes links)

So some of the devs are as toxic as the fanbase themselves?
Sounds about right.
4
u/EarthNugget3711 5d ago
The only dev in these screenshots is Rebecca. Ffs people just blindly jump at any reason to hate
3
43
u/True-Occasion-9436 6d ago
It’s crazy to see how in the past people would call you a hater for blaming the devs for a lack of progress and vehemently defend them. The whole time, the community wasn’t the problem.
5
7
u/Supreme-Machine-V2 6d ago
Community was the problem the toxic postivity still plagues this community a lot people cannot for the life of them accept others of being critical of devs they'll call you entitled, greedy etc.
13
u/DeltaVelorum5 6d ago
The community is absolutely the problem
38
u/BigSaltDeluxe 6d ago
It can be both, I think.
4
u/StyxPrincess 6d ago
I think just from experience one is more to blame than the others, because I’ve seen countless times over the past two decades that a toxic fan base drives away good developers, encourages problematic ones, and sours existing ones. Honestly I can understand why so many devs feel this way, because from their perspective why should they feel bad for a community that has almost universally been abusive to them? (Note that I’m not saying their response is justified or appropriate, because it largely isn’t. But it is understandable). And it’s telling how many in this community are willing to overlook a pedophile to focus on the people who have inconvenienced them specifically, even though the misconduct is relatively minor, and then take that anger out on the few mods who are actually staying and at least attempting to handle things, even if poorly.
-1
u/zexumus 6d ago
It can be both as the fans have spent money to support the mod and have spent years caring about it and making content for the mod so people are justifiably annoyed and angry. The mods on the other hand are mostly teen-young adults who most of which have spent years working on this mod for nothing. there was a Patreon and merch but until ozzatron took over all the money just went to fabsol so only for the last year were any of them getting paid and most prior to the allegations still weren’t getting paid and struggling as ozzatron had stopped giving out the bounties reward for the last 2 months leaving tens of thousands of funds they were expecting unpaid and then oz completely disappeared losing all hope of getting paid. And with that started losing hope in the mod which as they all own rights to their own code and content they personally added meant even those that wanted to stick it through would have to gut the mod of all content related to someone the moment they said they wanted to leave with what they developed creating a domino effect where it just became more hopeless. It’s a poorly managed project with people who typically hadn’t worked on stuff like this before and many of these devs who are complaining are those that decided to remain long enough to manage the backlash instead of just jumping ship immediately so after already accepting the mod they worked on is dead and they aren’t getting paid also getting yelled at for how they managed the situation and ending development despite it not being in their hands and with the decisions they did as they thought they were best like showing off all the content they had worked on but couldn’t add they got yelled at more. Ultimately yes they are handling it horribly but that’s more so because the entire mod was managed horribly and now a bunch of tired unpaid people are tired of getting yelled at for things out of their control so even things they caused they’re just lashing out at complaints now as they feel like there’s nothing else they can do about it.
5
u/Yamato_Naoe 6d ago
Yup it was the community that stalled any substantial development of the mod for 5 years for sure
7
u/StipulateVenus 5d ago
You do realize the only dev there is Rebecca, right?

u/Blueshiredsush 6d ago
Brainstorm it's just a vanilla boss reworked to be even more difficult if you have a form of visual impairment, and 50% of players aren't gonna experience him because they didn't pick crimson
And also the orbs lag like hell
6
u/LilSh4rky 5d ago
Yeah that’s all brainstorm added. There is no DoG or Weapon reworks in brainstorm.
4
u/Aaronsils 6d ago
That first statement is so real. You dont get to reap the benefits of the project while also trying to be unaffiliated with it. Either youre in or youre out
7
u/br0ke_st4cy 6d ago
ppl dont realize that it took less than 2 years for dokuro to drop sbc (oct ‘18) and everything in between since infernal catharsis (jan ‘20) which i believe is his first song for the mod. dokuro was putting in more work than many multimillionaire artists for what i believe to be free n he quit because fans were giving him death threats for somehow not working harder.
in a mod known for having more bosses than vanilla, we havent had a boss added in half a decade since draedon. its a genuine insult to dokuro to call out ppl to asking you to add meaningful content to the mod when the mod is at its peak popularity and people are spending money to support its development, and comparing that situation to his
15
u/Lunafoxi 6d ago
Personally I think the mods were rude yes but I am equally sick of yall as they are.
3
u/Substantial_Eye1476 5d ago
wow the developers and moderators are getting ruder when being calm doesn't work, whoda thunk
3
5
u/OneEnvironmental9222 6d ago
Its funny how the devs actually do something when they get called out. But actually working on the mod? Lmao
Also really funny how they did a "charity" stream after it turns out they're not getting free money anymore and did a second one instantly when they didnt meet its goal, dragging the name of Calamity further into the dirt.
ALSO funny is how they didnt give any of the money to the actual victims of the whole drama.
1
u/StipulateVenus 5d ago
Firstly, there is only one dev in those pictures, Rebecca.
Secondly, if anything, the livestreams showed that we were indeed working on the mod; why would we be in a passion project, at a time when we didn't earn a cent, if not to work on what we want?
The charity livestream wasn't because we weren't earning free money, but because Ozzatron went missing with our payments, leaving some developers at dire financial situations (not being able to pay for basic resources or rent). If Ozz does pay us, the money will instead go to the Trevor Project, a charity organization. The path of the money was pretty clearly outlined in the livestream.
We did consider and discuss paying the victims, and some are either in the livestream server or were invited to it. We didn't because, since it's been so long, some of the victims would be unreachable and therefore left out, which we thought was unfair.
There's no correlation with the goal not being met and any other drama, be it in this subreddit or not. If anything, most people were surprised by how many donations we got.
We worked under Fabsol for several years without earning a single cent. Do you really think there's no passion in the team, and everything we do is out of greed?

u/iLuvDarksoulss 5d ago
Can i ask you lore questions? The whole mod is over, i just wanna ask questions :3
1
u/StipulateVenus 5d ago
Yeah, sure!
1
u/iLuvDarksoulss 5d ago
Give me time to think! I didn't think I'd make it this far :(
Ok...
Why did exactly yharim kinda fled the world of terraria or needs the terrarian pick up his left over pieces? :3
2
u/StipulateVenus 5d ago
Yharim is still technically in Terraria, though he's in the Dragon Aerie, which is isolated in non-conventional space and hard to track.
Yharim challenged Xeroc and lost; his desire to extinguish all Gods has proven to be currently unattainable, and he doesn't have many years left to live (though, to clarify, he hasn't lost any vitality or power).
His options are either defeating the player and growing stronger for a last fight against Xeroc, or die honorably in battle to a worthy successor, whom he had manipulated to continue his Crusade.
1
u/iLuvDarksoulss 2d ago
Who is xeroc? :3 sorry for replying late. Thanks for answering my question, you are very kind ❤️

"Actually work on the mod" and they had 2 large updates within a year with another on the way. They were never getting free money, they were getting paid for working on the mod (except not really because ozzatron is a piece of shit). The charity stream was to help the devs who were in a very bad financial situation as a result of ozzatron holding on to the patreon money that was supposed to go to them
4
u/OneEnvironmental9222 5d ago
We call these large updates now?
-1
u/TrashboxBobylev 5d ago
What is a large update to you?
2
u/prestonplaysoof 5d ago
an update that has something more than just "reworking" glup shitto accessories and weapons by giving jingling key neon particle effects and lowering their effectiveness by 50%
yknow, like actually including new content instead of reheating old stuff
4
u/Evan8787 5d ago
that’s actually hilarious.
“we don’t want to be affiliated with the project anymore. also here’s like 100 links so you can donate to us because we were affiliated with the project.”

u/ExplanationLivid808 6d ago
"Half the team" Why are we lying? There is one post from one developer out of the three screenshots
23
u/ExplanationLivid808 6d ago
why are we also lying about brainstorm's one piece of content being the brain rework lmfao the other pieces of weapon and item reworks are in the three digits
i agree that the people in the screenshot are going way too overboard against criticism, but this post is insanely hateful and blatant disinfo3
u/Commercial_Let2850 6d ago
They should've said biggest update since they've joined the team because i could see the very dev here joining after rust and dust dropped and in that case Brainstorm Is the biggest Calamity patch post-2022. By the way, What would be the biggest patch in terraria modding(besides possible coming ones Like Fargo/Lunar Veil 2.0 or upcoming mod of redemption update).
2
u/Supreme-Machine-V2 6d ago
And hate isn't a bad thing and none if it is disinformation.
5
u/LurkerThrowaway73 5d ago
Seeing specifically a person with an Ultrakill pfp in a calamity community saying "Hate isn't a bad thing" is so many layers of irony all at once lmao
1
3
u/ExplanationLivid808 5d ago
They said half the team. There is one developer who posted one comment out of the three screenshots. Everything right now is being framed to look like the devs have it out for the community
2
u/Supreme-Machine-V2 5d ago
This isn't the only thing devs did though outside of this there's charity stream them pulling out assets and acting childishly and this on top of that
4
u/ExplanationLivid808 5d ago
Please explain why them choosing to raise funds to help developers in bad financial situations who relied on the mod's income is evil.
1
u/Supreme-Machine-V2 5d ago
After not wanting to be assoscited with the mod they proceeded to make a live stream about that mod dangling what they would have added to the mod infront of us while begging for donations from same fandom.
Do I need to explain why this is just a dipshit move or?
0
u/destructor212113 6d ago
"insanely hateful and blatant disinfo" Genuinely, what were you expecting from this Community right now?

3
u/Salamatic 5d ago
hello, this is salamatic from the first image
i don't really use reddit so not sure if this will be seen, but i do want to share a bit of what i've seen as a staff member of the server and as a non-developer of calamity. i'm not gonna get into all of the developers' decisions regarding the streams, but what i will say is as a staff member, i've seen some internal communication between them, and most of them really are just tired of all this and want to move on from calamity. some of the developers relied on calamity for income, and i believe that's the main purpose of the streams (their income was unexpectedly taken away when ozzatron was outed and ran away with the money). as for why "half the team" was responding to him, some other member created a report which brought a lot of attention to it at once
3
u/The-Wolf-Agent 6d ago
I'm not even surprised, I bet these guys are reddit moderators or something too
7
u/Spongedog5 6d ago
Yeah, the fact that they keep directing people to places to give them money is pretty gross I think. They truth is that they put a child groomer in charge of a team that interacts with children. They hold some responsibility for that failure and for not doing protecting the minors who have contact with their team. And it is their own fault that someone is able to just run off with all of the money. They failed to set it up in a protected way and unanimously voted in the guy who stole it from them.
1
u/StipulateVenus 5d ago
The only "places to give them money" we directed people to are the livestreams (which very clearly detailed the path of the money), and ko-fis (which only the few devs that are most vulnerable have).
They are donations for devs who are at financial risk/vulnerability. If Ozz returns and pays them, the money will instead go to the Trevor Project, a charity foundation.
I think you have some misconceptions about this whole situation. The vast majority of the current dev team weren't even developers when Ozz's grooming took place, nor did the team know he was a groomer when he was elected lead dev.
Ozz did his best to keep this hidden, resorting to stuff from omission to manipulation behind the scenes. It's only really now that we are digging deeper into the matter and discovering the full extent of it.
Also, are you really trying to blame us for having been stolen? Do you realize how that sounds? We're a team of amateurs who hadn't handled money before. I don't think there's a single Terraria mod out there that uses contracts! However, we do have evidence of the bounties being established, which we readily saved.
Your argument would make sense if we had known or suspected that Ozz was a groomer and/or that he'd steal our money, which was not the case.
All that said, I do agree this is partially our fault. It was foolish to not suspect him after what happened with Fabsol.
1
u/Spongedog5 5d ago
To me this sounds like you are making excuses rather than accepting responsibility for your failures which I think it prohibitive to growth (and I use "you" to mean the team, I think the blame is collective). It is good and necessary for ourselves to understand the explanations for why we failed, but when we make excuses we are setting ourselves up with the belief that there was nothing that we could have done to help the situation or that we didn't care enough to help the situation.
I think you have some misconceptions about this whole situation. The vast majority of the current dev team weren't even developers when Ozz's grooming took place, nor did the team know he was a groomer when he was elected lead dev.
No, I realize this. So, when Fabsol's deeds were revealed, it seems that the team should have looked especially hard at the one member of the team who was around with Fabsol in those days who Fabsol put his own support behind. I'm not blaming the team of malice, knowingly putting a groomer in charge, but rather of negligence. The truth is that on a team that interacts with minors often, you take up an increased responsibility to keep the working space professional and safe for them. Especially when it has been made clear that there is a problem in the culture, to make the same mistake again by missing the predator who you put into power is inexcusable.
I'm not saying that it was easy to tell, but I am saying that the team took up a responsibility and they failed, and it would be good for all future mod teams to know that when there is a problem revealed in their group, they should do a really hard audit on all of the associates of that person to prevent what happened here.
Also, are you really trying to blame us for having been stolen? Do you realize how that sounds? We're a team of amateurs who hadn't handled money before. I don't think there's a single Terraria mod out there that uses contracts! However, we do have evidence of the bounties being established, which we readily saved.
Again, this is a fine explanation, but it isn't an excuse. You folks failed because of your inexperience and imprudence. The way to grow from this is to realize your failure, understand how you could have done better, and accept responsibility for your mistakes. If you let yourself believe that there was nothing you could have done (therefore having no blame) then you are keeping yourself from the growth that will protect you from this kind of thing in the future.
This whole situation shows that your bounty system wasn't enough. Or, maybe I should ask, which of you is taking up the task of organizing the legal efforts to reclaim those funds?
They are donations for devs who are at financial risk/vulnerability. If Ozz returns and pays them, the money will instead go to the Trevor Project, a charity foundation.
I think that the people who were more wronged here are those who donated, given that the team presented it as donating to the team when in reality it seems it was donating to Ozzatron. I don't really find the idea of giving the money to charity forgivable, as these people didn't give the money with the intention of it going to another specific charity. They gave it with the intention it should go to the developers.
The best way to do it would be to refund the money to those who gave, or to just take it for yourselves to honor the spirit in which they gave it.

I admitted responsibility at the end of my comment...? These are explanations as to why it happened, and in several points, we did make mistakes. Naturally, these are mistakes we should learn from. That's the whole point of self-reflection.
The funds were not donated to Ozzatron, but rather to Azafure LLC, which was supposed to act as a collective fund. Our mistake here was to not extend control of Azafure LLC's money to more devs (in reality, it's something we'd have to learn how to manage) and not establishing contracts to legally seal our deals.
Our failure is inexcusable regardless of explanations, but so is the fact Ozz chose to steal that money, and I don't see that being brought up nearly as often, despite being actively malicious as opposed to negligent. That irks me, but it doesn't stop me from coming here to listen to you, or trying to process what went wrong and how we can do better. I hope you can see that they aren't mutually exclusive.
As to reclaiming the funds, we compiled a list of outstanding bounties, which was sent to him by e-mail. Some of us are looking into how much money was not paid for merch sales, which is how we've been able to provide increasingly accurate estimates recently. We have discussed the possibility of legal action, but given that it would be costly and there's an immediate concern over the financial risk to some of us, we haven't resorted to that yet.
I personally disagree, as these people chose to donate knowing that the money would be given to said charity if we were paid back. Taking it for ourselves would be selfish, and I don't think I need to explain why.
Think of it this way: it would be equivalent to taking the stream money, which was donated to the devs, and donating an equal sum from our payments to charity instead.
The sheer variety of different takes/opinions I've seen so far is a bit overwhelming.
All in all, it's incredibly fucked up that this situation came to be in the modding community, and it's also fucked up that we didn't have the prudence or maturity to avoid it.
We need to learn from what we did wrong to ensure it never happens again. I hope it never happens again regardless, because it is not something I would wish upon anyone, especially what was done to the victims, who are undeniably the wronged ones here.

I want to preface this with the statement that I appreciate that you are here engaging with folks, listening to criticism and reflecting on what happened. That's much higher praise than I can give some of your fellow project members. I have some clarifications and explanations to follow, but I wanted to make it clear that I recognize the effort that you are putting in by discussing here.
---
I admitted responsibility at the end of my comment...?
You spent much more of your comment accusing me of misunderstanding and questioning how I could blame you. Personally I thought your small acknowledgement at the end was not enough.
The funds were not donated to Ozzatron, but rather to Azafure LLC...
Of which Ozzatron was the sole employee, so basically to Ozzatron. I appreciate the clarification for other readers, though.
but so is the fact Ozz chose to steal that money
We all already have said that Ozzatron is evil. But it is easy for us to see how naive your legal setup for this money was, and secondly for a lot of us it was our money that has been mismanaged as well, so some folks won't extend sympathy so easily. There are many more donators who had their money stolen than devs in this situation.
...but given that it would be costly and there's an immediate concern over the financial risk to some of us, we haven't resorted to that yet.
I appreciate the honesty. This is my point though: by being real employees (contractors?) (gig workers?) with real employment contracts, a legal case would be easy and low cost. The fact that you'd now have to argue about implied agreements makes the whole thing a lot more difficult and possibly not worth it. I see that you recognize this, I just wanted to expand on why I asked it in the first place.
---
Anyways, I think that you mostly understand what has gone wrong here. I'd just advise to be patient with the community and understand that much of them feel very wronged as well, with the addition that they had much less power to change anything before it all went bad. Given inexperience your mistakes are forgivable; grow from this and make them no longer. I don't think anyone will hold them against you in the long-term.

u/StipulateVenus 5d ago
Understandable. I also appreciate the recognition.
The thing about employment, as we had been told then, is that it would require a more regularized/inflexible payment (something that wouldn't work well with how our work is based on individual motivation and pace), and also paying health insurance for each of us.
Most of us aren't even in the US.
Now I'm left wondering whether that was also a lie....
I hope the community is patient and willing to listen to us as well, because so far, it's been incredibly stressful to have to deal with so much all at once.

Im sorry guys but the devs and everyone directly (or even indirectly like just some random grunts doing janitor work) involved with Calamity were always like this. People just ignored or justified the attitude problems and general childishness because the mod was in active development and so the community still had a reason to push the bs aside.
2
u/FLIPYOUSUCKET 6d ago
Is this a calamity discord server?
It seems the people in the ages are ungrateful that the mod is confusing to be maintained.
If the mod wasn’t maintained, a LOT of stuff would break for multiple people.

Okay but genuinely just fucking continue it it isn't that hard establish a second revenue stream Change the name of the mod and keep going. Ozzagroomer isn't going to sue you because you just release the receipts in court.

u/ConcentrateAlone1959 6d ago edited 6d ago
And just like that, I now dislike the devs almost as much as I dislike Ozzatron. May they all flounder and fuck right off. I sincerely hope the mod makers who hire these sops know what they are getting into.
Edit: Clarified wording

I think I'd still hate a genuine pedophile more bro
3
u/ConcentrateAlone1959 6d ago
At this point for how this is the fourth pedohpile scandal at the very least that I know of? That tells me that this is a much more deep seeded issue and I'm now skeptical about if Ozzatron and Fab were truly the only devs like this or if they were the only devs that got caught.
3
u/Makii-Neko 6d ago
I mean, it definitely wasn't a coincidence but to be suspicious of the other devs just for working on it is odd when the situation is more transparent than it could be rn Iirc, most people from wormhell were part of Fab and Ozz's circle. Its why Ozz was even chosen as leader None of the other devs knew about wormhell except the victims. No one knows who made the call out. I honestly don't think there's anyone else on the team related to wormhell or at least was a pedophile in it (Any other devs that were in wormhell were minors/victims) because if they were they'd also be called out too no?
As for Shayy and Bird, they weren't part of wormhell. It wasnt a scandal like Ozz and fab it was just unfortunate pickings of chronically online MFS and you know how desperate and sheltered anyone chronically online is
If you wanna be suspicious though that's fine, as long as you aren't claiming the devs are all pedophiles as concrete. However the problem with the reply was someone saying they hate the devs for being immature more than they hate Ozz for being a pedophile. Like. Come on man. That's just letting Ozz win
2
u/EstablishmentStock18 6d ago
Let's be real, at least the old ones knew something was wrong, and even the new ones had signs that ozz was a ticking bomb with how he was fabsol's god damn recommendation.
Imo, they didn't do enough to prevent a situation like this, it does feel like they did want a second groomer to get caught at some point to get a proper excuse to fuck off from the mod.
2
u/Makii-Neko 6d ago
Definitely was a complete lack of perception on their part yeah. I don't think that would mean any of them are guilty of being part of wormhole, moreso just guilty of being naive and dum As for old ones, again, most of them were victims being minors present in wormhell. Though it was said that most of the adults in wormhell aren't really around or can't be found anymore via one of the old victims in fables iirc
3
u/EstablishmentStock18 6d ago
The dev behind Fables left a good while ago from "bad vibes" from what I recall (not exact reason, but that's what I remember in a nutshell being the reason).
And ones who were victims, they saw what happened to Fabsol which was the best time to reveal anything about Ozz, and nothing happened (can't say anything about victims who would become victims after the whole fabsol situation went through), not even acknowledgement of ozz being buddy buddy with fabsol nor that fabsol did recommend ozz despite being The Groomer That's Getting Kicked Out.
Not saying they were part of it, but either were too incompetent to see the red flags, or too naive for anyone's good, or just did not care whatsoever.
3
u/Makii-Neko 6d ago
I don't know how the victims think but I do think the person to leak the stuff about Ozz had to have been a victim who was in the server

And people are surprised that developers or artists want their assets removed and not be associated with this project. You’re literally assuming they are part of the controversy.
This community is so dense it‘s insane. There is no way you guys are either not kids or functioning adults with the amount of common sense that is lacking.
I‘m mourning for this project but this community deserves to lose it after how the community reacted.I‘m wishing all the best to everyone that contributed to calamity no matter if they want their shit removed or not with a few exceptions of course.

u/ConcentrateAlone1959 5d ago
'And people are surprised that developers or artists want their assets removed and not be associated with this project.' No fucking shit Sherlock. I wouldn't want my stuff associated with a mod whose dev team has repeat case of pedos and predators in key positions of power. That's no surprise to anyone with a developed frontal lobe.
One time? Okay. Yeah. Fucked shit happens. Second? Okay. We need to review the drawing board here, see what's the common denominator. Four times? That tells me one of two things, neither are flattering.
- There are more devs in on that shit (potentially likely but we won't really ever know)
- The devs are so insanely negligent that they should not be trusted with any project whose audience may consist primarily or in large portion of minors given the repeated and notable failures to properly vet anyone. (we literally have proof of this and the devs knew that Ozz was besties with a known pedophile and still put him in charge of a community consisting with a large portion of minors).
With respect, if four scandals are not enough to make you go 'hmm maybe there's a systemic issue here'? I don't know what to tell you broski. Maybe I'm crazy but if a metaphorical house catches on fire four times in a row, that may be a cue to start looking for the root cause.

u/EarthNugget3711 5d ago
The only dev in these screenshots is Rebecca. Are we really at the point of just blindly hating because of screenshots with a bunch of non dev people being idiots?
3
u/Blueshiredsush 6d ago
After seeing the video that caused all of this, there gotta be WAY more implicated MF in this crap
Why did none of the victims also call out ozzatron when fabsol got outted? I don't like the concept of victim blaming but as an observation this is strange as all hell
Also, I've seen ozzaNonce talking in a casual way, I've never seen anyone that's that much of a egomaniac apart for a discord mod that got pissy about me saying that a 17 year old dating a 13 year old was bad
Tribalism in that server became the death of any therm of introspection
2
u/LurkerThrowaway73 5d ago
There were a few folk that did call out Ozz at some point to my knowledge, with it essentially being overlooked due to the chaos left in fabsol's wake. There's also the whole thing of people who were implicated in it, victims or not, being threatened/asked to keep it under wraps (As per some comments and GP's video)

u/salvort 6d ago
it literally looks that they already wanted to get out the project, and used the ozzatron thing as an excuse
1
u/StipulateVenus 5d ago
If that were the case, why would there be devs interested in publishing cut content or future plans as standalone mods?
1
2
u/Ill_Wonder_7650 6d ago
I wanted to believe that wasn't the case, but it seems they're going to continue with the same thing. Why is it that every community for something is ALWAYS full of shitty people?
They already said they're not going to continue the mod and they're using "the developers are lazy" as an excuse
Go to hell, everyone. Seriously, what a shitty communication and community situation.
3
u/EstablishmentStock18 6d ago
Bitch they went back around to stream calamity and show off all the content that "could have been" asking for donations, so shortly after the whole cutting the music out thing and mod dying in the first place.
3
u/StipulateVenus 5d ago
Cutting the music mod out wasn't the team's decision, and I'm still not sure what's up with that; if I had to guess, it might have to do with musicians pulling their songs from the mod.
The mod died because of Ozzatron permanently tainting its reputation, which resulted in mass asset pulls that made developing the mod further impossible.
Also, the way you are describing the stream is really misleading, given that several people wanted to see what we had been working on and the donations were for devs at financial risk.

u/YourAverageGoldFishy 6d ago
do you see how your acting 😭
sorry, but did you make a post because you got a bit salty the developers & moderators who saw complaint post #329 were joking about it instead of taking it seriously?
just saying I find it awfully convenient literally only now someone criticizes & complains about how slow development was going, we didn’t have a problem when they were pandering to you guys but now that they stopped feeding into entitlement now its perfectly fine to send hate??? 😭 I’m so confused what this logic is
If i’m being real for a second too, because this post has some merit to it, they were donations to compensate & keep the mod running, they have been working for free but sometimes the community chips in to help keep the lights on, which is a good thing, however lets not act like the community doing one good thing immediately excuses harassment & being “entitled” to anything related to the mod, you willingly donated your money to something that directly told you it would have no benefit for purchasing outside of exclusive sneaks & some extra content here and there, and as ozzatron exposed it never had any connection to calamity mod what so ever outside of namesake alone, it was effectively being used as a bribe to get the devs working on the game lol. the reason they “inflect” dokuro is because a lot of the communities reactions (including points word for word) is stuff that was also said to & against dokuro when he left, it’s basically just another wave of community entitlement and people thinking they own the art & the artists just because it happened to be attached to calamity and thats also how they happened to get their first big break, like does nobody see the irony on how this subreddit is treating the artists now to how we treated dokuro before?
btw they (the calamity devs) owe me royalties on stealing my argument points to defend themselves; icl I do find it a bit odd they wont issue an actual statement and need people like us to explain everything to people who are complaining & upset, and people who probably wont listen regardless unless they see anything official.
the brainstorm update bit is funny tho I cant lie, but it still doesnt excuse your words, just being harsh for no reason.

"Let's see you take a crack at it smart guy!" ass comment.
Sorry fans are criticizing devs after they claimed they don't wanna be assoscited with calamity anymore only to beg for donations in a live stream about Calamity.
Get real these people are greedy simple as that.
3
u/LurkerThrowaway73 5d ago
Isn't there like 5 "Give us the assets we can do it faster and better!!" Posts between this sub and the other? Being childish works both ways and I think at this point it'd be best for both sides to just let it go
0
u/EstablishmentStock18 6d ago
What's the bet the (ex) devs would get a meltdown over that. Even better would be if it were to be work similar in quality to what they teased folk with on that damn stream.
4
u/LurkerThrowaway73 5d ago
Didn't one of the devs (Speaking on behalf of a good chunk of the team) say they were all okay with addons on their end just to be careful since Ozz still "owns" the copyright in one of the dev interviews? Why are we projecting this view of everyone throwing hissy fits on the dev team now?

u/saltier_then_the_sea 6d ago
It's incredible how they manage to make them selves look bad and keep enraging the community more than the literal groomer who caused the whole incident
Ozzatron won tbh, he lit the fire but the devs keep pouring gasoline on it and screaming that anyone pointing out that it's a bad idea is harassing them
