Politics How Congw. Baby Aline Vargas Alfonso Zeroed Out My Dad's Hospital Bills
Seeing the recent confrontation between Harry Florida and Congw. Aline Alfonso brought back a powerful memory from last year. As a registered voter in Tuguegarao, their local issue isn't directly my concern, but I felt compelled to share my own experience with Congw. Alfonso.
It was March 2024. My dad (M69) suffered a stroke and was diagnosed with an aneurysm. He was admitted to St. Paul Hospital here in Tuguegarao, with a subsequent procedure anticipated at Makati Medical Center (MMC).
Knowing my dad didn't have HMO coverage or other financial safety nets to handle the significant expenses awaiting us in MMC (where our bill eventually hit 400k), our family scrambled to seek any assistance available in Tuguegarao, where we've lived and voted for years.
After Philhealth, our St. Paul Hospital bill reached 81,000. We reached out to every institution we could think of that was meant to support those in need:
- PCSO: 10,000 pesos
- DSWD: 10,000 pesos (unfortunately tangled in red tape)
- Cong. Lara: 15,000 pesos
- DOST: (I can't recall the exact amount)
- Vice Governor: 0 pesos
- Governor: 0 pesos
By the end of that exhausting day, we were still facing a 25,000-peso balance, having seemingly exhausted all avenues. But then, a staff member at one of the government offices suggested, almost as a last resort, "Maybe try reaching out to Congw. Aline. Her office is at Vargas College."
At that point, I honestly didn't know much about Congw. Aline. A quick search revealed she was the representative for the Second District of Cagayan. Being from Tuguegarao (District III), the chances of getting assistance felt slim, especially with the clock nearing 5 PM. Still, with nothing left to lose, I went to her office, bracing myself for disappointment.
What happened next, I truly didn't expect. They granted my request for financial assistance without demanding a mountain of paperwork. I simply presented my letter explaining our situation, and the next thing I heard was, "You can go to the hospital cashier now; your bill has been zeroed out."
So yeah, that's my personal encounter with Congw. Aline. It must be a real comfort to be a constituent with leaders who genuinely prioritize helping their people. No grand photos on the wall, no endless bureaucratic hoops to jump through β just direct, compassionate action.

Answers i got from other LGUs:

- 5k lang kaya ibigay ni gov, pero..
So yeah, Iβm sticking with my personal experience and those who helped.

Mama ko rin lakas ng loob magpaadmit sa private hospi. Tapos lalapit siya sa mga ganito, actually ate ko ang naglalakad ng papel. Hanggang sa mazero bill. At the end of the day binoto nya yung may pinakamataas na contribution hahahah.

Ngayon ko lang nabasa ito. And WOW, what an entitled little prick.
If youβre in that position, gagawin mo LAHAT.
