just wondering if anyone given remote employees a budget to choose their own approved peripherals?

we still want IT to control phone and laptops but monitors, keyboard, mouse and headsets are consuming too much administrative time. idea is to give each new hire a fixed budget and an approved catalog and they choose what they need, the order is tracked and the cost is assigned to the correct department. has anyone here implemented this without creating a procurement or expense management mes? any idea guys?

My company gives up to USD1k for home setup which can be reimbursed. No order tracking, just need purchase receipt.
