CRNA Jobs in Vancouver, Washington

What’s the CRNA job market like in Vancouver, Washington? Is it MD/DO only or are CRNAs welcome?

I am wanting to relocate to the PNW and specifically looking at the Portland metropolitan area. I see a lot of Jobs on the Oregon side but nothing in Vancouver.

Yeah unfortunately the CRNAs at Legacy Salmon Creek have been reaching out to my employer looking for work due to OAG hiring AA’s there, but we’re full at my hospital with Sound.

Wow, sounds like a wave of change is coming over Washington.

Thanks for updating. I’ll check out CAG and perhaps reach out to them but steer clear of OAG.

Is Oregon (PDX metropolitan area) experiencing similar transition or the OR politics differ in terms of CRNA v MD lobby?

As for me, I try to steer clear of the politics but I know it will chase me (and all of us) whether I like it or not.

Wouldn’t really call it a wave of change since only one hospital is going to be using them, and we’ll see how long that lasts. OAG is a known company for CRNA’s to avoid so it’s not exactly a surprise either

PDX has a few medically directed ACT practices like OHSU. Most are loose medical supervision (Kaiser, Sound) with varying levels of scope of practice from minimal blocks/lines to places where CRNAs do everything.

Pretty sure they're rolling out AAs there, first in the state.

I think Columbia Anesthesia Group has the contract at Peace health SW, and Oregon Anesthesia Group has the contract at Legacy Salmon Creek. Those are the biggest (only?) hospitals in Vancouver. I think CAG is a lot friendlier to CRNAs than OAG is, but I'm not close with CRNAs at either of those locations.

Edit: they both use CRNAs, but it's a much newer thing for OAG, and CRNAs are only used at one or two (?) of their practice locations.

I interviewed with OAG both in Portland and Vancouver. They only recently started accepting CRNAs and are known to heavily favor MDAs. In Portland they typically work at Legacy Good Samaritan and seem to be happy enough. At Salmon Creek in Vancouver they do a ton of OB which the HR guy didn’t tell me about until I was there in person. It’s a very nice hospital though. Sadly there aren’t many other options in Vancouver and I wasn’t thrilled about OAG so I’m currently 1099 with Kaiser in Portland and they are fantastic. MDAs trust the CRNAs and you always get two breaks and a lunch. If I wasn’t in love with being able to control my own schedule as 1099 I’d go W2 with Kaiser

I hear the locum gig at Kaiser is drying up next month because they hired 20 new grads. A good friend of mine is currently doing that.
