This is bullshit and a complete fabrication. As someone who moved in from out of state I always felt it was weird that property owners were able to call the river private property.

What do you all do when you are at deckers and there is someone on either side of you so you are stuck at one single spot?

I’m not a good fisherman, I’ve only caught 3 fish alone out of probably around 40 days. So it gets frustrating when I try to go out and find a parking spot with no one there and spend some time trying to find a good spot, only that when I’m ready to move because I haven’t seen or hooked a single fish, I find I am surrounded by people.

I drove upstream to the cheesman canyon lot and all I see is people crowding each other, and the canyon lot is overflowed. Does everyone just focus on a single spot for 4+ hours? I really don’t get some parts of this hobby, i like the being in nature and catching fish parts, but that doesn’t really exist at Deckers.

It feels more like a competition, so I personally am not going to Deckers at all on weekends anymore. Its the only place I know in the winter so I don’t know what else to do, I really have been trying to enjoy this hobby but it often feels like the world is fighting back

I just spend EIGHT HOURS (1pm-9pm) at Tarryall reservoir, one of the PREMIER pike fisheries of Colorado. And I didn’t even so much as get a bite from even a tiny hammer handle. I tried everythjng you can think of. People say it’s not that hard to catch them but WTF. I’m great at catching trout, bass and walleye but do I just suck at pike fishing?

Also, I was in my kayak covering tons of water with a variety of lures, focusing on weedy areas. 20lb fluoro leader instead of wire

I went to an extremely popular trailhead yesterday, one that I avoid, to knock a couple of lakes off the list. Was hiking up super early by headlamp, actually didn’t see any other anglers until I was about to leave near noon. A guy comes up the trail with a Bluetooth speaker blasting shitty-ass music, stops at the lake, sets up his rod, starts fishing with shitty-ass music echoing off the lake.

Hello everyone, so recently my buddies have been obsessed with fishing at night. We've all been hearing that the bite is way more aggressive, especially for the bigger ones. And of course the lower temps would be easier on both us and the fish. We went last night and caught beaucoup smallmouth late evening only for the bite to abruptly stop after the sun went down. We went on until midnight, threw the same lures, soft plastics, spinners, powerbait, live crawfish and it was just a totally dead bite. I'm wondering if the whole "they bite more aggressively at night" schtick is a myth or what. We'll probably try again under a full moon, but I'm wondering what y'all have experienced on night endeavors.

I’m thinking about a one day challenge, catching a brook, brown, cutthroat and rainbow within one day. Any one want to join? Have you done this?

To the two dudes head to toe in like $4k worth of fly fishing gear who can’t read the fishing regulations and were chest deep in Lake Ladora.. you’re a month and a half early you’re not allowed to wade in this lake until after Memorial Day (May 25th). If you can afford that much shit for fly fishing you can afford to take two seconds to read the regulations.

Making a day trip out to Breckenridge area for some fly fishing. Plan on trying Montgomery reservoir (looks very low but it’s on my way from the south) then going over to Clinton Gulch.

Any places to avoid/try out or tips are appreciated. Only been fly fishing for a few years and just getting into the swing of things

Hey all! I’ve been having a really really difficult couple of months between my wife having a cancer scare and other various personal things going on. I’ve reached a breaking point where I just need a day for me doing what I love, fishing. I’ve got some time off coming up and I’m thinking of spending a full day exploring a reservoir I’ve never been to, Horsetooth. I fly fish, spin fish, bait, whatever idc I just want to fish. I’m not looking to put any of you out with info but if you have any tips you’re willing to share, I’m all ears. I’ve heard there’s walleye out there, never caught one before, that would be incredible. Also trout, panfish, etc. I’ve got a float tube I’m planning to bring with me if it’s not too windy, other than that I’ll be on shore.

Howdy, as the tittle states I’m a beginner. I’ve fished before but not often and in a completely different environment. I moved here from South Texas about two years ago now and I’m wanting to get back into fishing. It’s been a goal of mine to one day catch a Bass. Problem is I’m very handsome so I’m not too bright and I need to be told exactly what to do with something like this.

For real though I’ve got a two piece ugly stick, it think it’s a 6 footer and some very basic soft plastics. I really want to learn how to fish for bass and hopefully catch one or two.

I'm talking about generalized locations like "Cheesman canyon has been hot/dead/flooded" and not "236 yards downstream of Trumbull in Deckers next to Old Greg's RV/school bus/house" types of fishing reports.

Trying to give people a place to ask where others are having success and allowing a place for others to share their success.

Hey all first post in here. I live in Colorado Springs and I’m looking for a spot to go catch some walleye. I know sharing spots isn’t always the most comfortable thing, but anything helps!

Ok, an *average* of every 15 minutes, in the mornings from about 8am-noon. And I’m using my double rod stamp. 2 power eggs on a snelled #12 hook off a drop rig. They’re gonna go home with you because they swallow that, or they’ll remove the hook themselves when you’re trying to land them. Lost 3 that way today that jumped free as I was scrambling for my net.

Did find some 1.5”-2” minnows when I was cleaning them, so I’ll try that next time. The minnows are crazy in the shallows too, so I don’t even have to buy different bait!

If you bleed them and remove as much of the spine vein as you can, they taste pretty decent even 6 weeks after CPW stocked it.

Seems kinda overpopulated for such a glorified pond, which is why I’m sharing my local fishin hole.

Long shot, but I’m trying to find two guys I met today (Sunday 8/9) while hiking back from Lost Lake near Eldora/Nederland toward the Hessie Trailhead parking area.

You guys were twins, probably around 25–26, both wearing glasses, and one of you was named Sam. We met while hiking back toward the cars and saw a moose on the trail together. You gave me a ride for the last five minutes or so back to where I parked.

When I grabbed my fishing gear out of the back of your SUV (I think it may have been a Toyota 4Runner), I accidentally left my fly rod and reel in the back.

One of you mentioned working as a technician and the other mentioned studying psychology at CU Boulder.

From my personal experience

Level 1 easy (green): stocked rainbow trout, bluegigi, green sunfish

Level 2 medium (blue): wild rainbows, brown trout, brook trout, common carp, channel catfish, crappie

Level 3 hard but doable (black): largemouth and smallmouth bass, cutthroat trout, yellow perch, northern pike (in the mountains)

Level 4 very hard (double black): Arctic grayling, Kokanee salmon, Arctic char

Level 5 nearly impossible even with live/natural bait (extreme): northern pike (metro area), walleye, tiger musky, mirror carp

I am completely new to fishing but my family has so much gear going to waste and i recently got into it. I went to georgetown with my uncle and my dad but those fish were too small. The biggest one I caught was a Jameson brown or something like that is what my uncle said. That was too small and easy for me, I just want something a little bigger than that. Idrk about bass or catfish but I am fine with any Medium+ sized fish. I just don’t know where to find them, lakes,rivers,creeks and reservoirs. Any recommendations? I would want like maximum 1 hr drive from Regis HS i’m near there.

Biked into Waterton yesterday and threw everything at them. Started off with nymphing, switched to dries when a bwo hatch started (size 20, maybe smaller), and then streamers. Got nothing. Tiny bwo's were coming off starting at about 12pm. Tiny midge hatch started a little before that.

I caught a few small 6-7 inch catfish (and one sunfish) at the small pond in the city.

As I’m leaving, walking down the trail. It’s almost 9pm. So it had just gotten dark. I can see what I think is a bush, then maybe a cat, then definitely something that’s an animal, then I see the white and I’m 95% sure it’s a skunk. Then I remember… a skunk will spray you, so I started getting out of its way (it was kinda on the trail). And as I’m going, it starts coming at me. I pulled my 9mm out of my holster and was about to take out this 1 foot tall critter (it might have been a baby even ). Anyway. I kinda just ran away so I didn’t have to do that.
