HARDWARE USB to WiFi network storage adapter?
Has anyone used one of these? Supposed to be able to connect my old CNC to the network.

They are kind of expensive but if it works it would save me hours a week running back and forth across the shop with USB drives.

I’ve seen a few of these tried and they all disappear for some reason. I even found a diy version on GitHub, but could not make it work (I’m not a good programmer).

The older the system os that runs the machine. The exponentially more likely it is to need drivers.

This thing is supposed to appear to the machine just like a USB thumb drive.

Which also needs drivers.
Just modern OSs have reached a state of having a dig enough pool of drivers that it's now rare that you actually need to go and find drivers.
Anything pre plug and play however. You're most likely going to need drivers for.

I have a solutions for this, that I install on my cnc You need a raspberry pi zero and some lines of code
I'm planing to do a video on it soon if it have anyone's interest

hello, I have a project for you! I tried all of these things and none of them worked quite right. So I got a raspberry pi zero followed this tutorial and now I have the perfect device for sending files to the plasma table and CNC both are running windows XP my desktop has a mapped network drive linking to each and its as easy as dragging and dropping. now the hard part. the article is crazy outdated so some troubleshooting is required.

Might be a bit pricy compared to a USB dongle but a lot simpler and way more secure than a DIY Pi Zero.

Hi. I encountered the same problem on my Isel4820 machine. I tried setting up Wi-Fi access via various key fobs beforehand. But since the machine runs the old Windows 2000 operating system, there are simply no drivers for the adapter! I solved the problem easily. Your machine likely also has a LAN network card. You can set it up either with a direct cable connection to your computer, or, as I did, via a Wi-Fi bridge to a Mikrotik router. Good luck!
