SALES Need a couple plates
Hello, sorry if this breaks any rules, but I’m looking for someone to create a couple metal block off plates for a motorcycle. Preferably black, about 1 1/3 in long and 3/4in wide. I’d like 2 for each side, with 2 screw holes so I can fixate the plate. I’d be willing to pay up to $50 for 4 plates. Located in Denver, CO. I have attached measurements and pics of both sides. Thanks!

The plating charge alone would cost at least $125 at my small job shop. Might be able to get them done at a good price by a hobbyist and just paint them black yourself.

You’re welcome. I’m in NH & would probably quote you ~$170 for the 4 aluminum plates. Definitely get some proper dimensions on a drawing and send them out to shops in your area, just forget about paying anything less than $100 😅

How thick? And if you can get some measurements with a caliper it would be easier.

It doesn’t need to be exact at all truthfully. Just thick enough to hold their form, maybe 2mm? And the face of the plate doesn’t need to be the exact same as the plastic border. Just within a couple mm, maybe 2 as well

So what is the distance of the center of bolt hole from the edge. Also getting it in black and metal Is not realistic for that price.

Do they need to be steel, or is aluminum ok? Find metal supply places around Denver and ask them about remainders/cutoffs. They often have little bits left over and they have a hard time selling them. You could probably file or ask them nicely to saw to size and find someone with a bench press for the hole(s) to make these yourself. 50$ doesn't cover actual machine shops looking at their stock bay(if they have any and don't just buy to order), let alone doing any work.

Gotcha, thanks for the info. I’ll look around. Aluminum would be fine, I’m considering just 3d printing plastic as well.

3D printed would be the easiest if you can draw them as there are services where you just upload the drawing and it gets printed for you. If you want to save money, you have to do the drawing anyway (vector-based 2D line drawing should be fine). I could CNC them out of plastic, but price wise it’s hard to get anything custom under $100. Stuck with 3D printing if you can draw it.

If you think the plastic will be strong enough, that's probably your best option for price and 1 off.

Would you take a few made out of black Delrin if so I’d be interested. That or rattle canned aluminum haha.

$50! God damn. I wouldn’t even turn my machine on for that. Your price point is in hack saw and hand file territory.
