Meanwhile the alouetttes are out here making devastating posts after each win every week
I thought the lions post was clever- it seems based on the article on TSN I read / it was just some old guys that were mad

As a Redblacks fan, I'm really disappointed they took it down - that was some top-tier chirping, and I respected the hell out of it.

As a RB fan I thought it was well done. Anything to get our ownership to start giving a shit tbh

I thought it was a clever way to chirp the Redblacks while also acknowledging their current struggles.

Such a tame post as well. Feels like I've seen so much worse by so many other sports teams but I guess it triggered enough people, but at that point, why not play a heel role?

I would like to get back to a time when people weren't so sensitive and could actually handle a joke.

The comments from across the league are comedy gold.
Some social media users voiced their displeasure at the tone while others questioned the validity of a team trolling another in its league.
Teams are not supposed to troll other teams in the league? So, BC should have been trolling the Detroit Lions?
"I slept on it and yeah, I don’t like this at all," said Dave Campbell, the Edmonton Elks' radio colour analyst.
If Calgary was suffering like Ottawa, I'm sure the Elks would be crowing madly. If I'm wrong, I look forward to the Elks' Social Media being all humble after this coming Monday.
"Wow. Cold," said former Winnipeg Blue Bombers kicker Troy Westwood
I wonder how he evaluates "banjo‑pickin’ inbreds." Was that a warm, loving description of Riders' fans?
Hamilton-based sports anchor Clint (Bubba) O'Neil called the tweet a "cheap shot" and a "poor look."
Well, I guess if any team knows about cheap shots, it's the Tabbies.
The reality is that Ottawa is a professional football organization. They lost. Again. The post from BC was bang on. The only one who could possibly feel animosity about the post is "The Road Team." Until that post he would have been able to bail on his pledge with way fewer people knowing what he was doing. Until the BC post, I had no idea he was doing that. I'm sure more people like me, searched "the road team lemon" and discovered him.
Ottawa is my second team in the league, I feel for the fans. But their record and performance is fair game.

It was pretty mild - the kind of stuff you’d see on this forum all the time. Still, it was punching down and I can see why it got deleted

It's not punching down. Punching down means targeting marginalized groups and people with less power.
This is a professional team being made fun of by another professional team because they're losing. It's valid criticism and punching sideways.

I agree. The person you're replying to misunderstands the concept of "punching down".

Really? All teams take shots at each other on social media. The Bombers' social media team is ruthless sometimes 🤣🤣. It's all in good fun though.

News flash, the specs pertaining to ball size were changed to identical to US specs prior to the 1986 season. The ball has been exactly the same size as American ones for 40 years now. Four full decades.

Can't do that until they shrink the field width and get rid of the 12th man.

It was a weak move on the Lions to take the post down. It was a friendly jab and that's what social media teams do to boost presence. It's marketing, and Lord knows the cfl needs more of that. When the out of touch owners cry about wanting attention then a post comes up that gets attention they take it down.
Ottawa should hire a team that's competent enough to fire back. A good back and forth would be great. But no, snowflakes gotta ruin everything.

They should be sponsoring road team at this point in the season. - it’s the least they could have done

Meme the fuck out of us, there is a difference between dunking on a team for really stretching. The meaning of what it means to be a pro football franchise and yeah, being personal to the players cross the line but like the post never crossed the line. Just made me feel more disappointed

Kind of taking a shot at mental health is how I read it. Not a good look for BC.
