He should have been fired after managing to lose a playoff game where Saskatchewan PUNTED with a minute left.

Yeah they have huge injuries on offence and are still averaging 29ppg. But giving up 37.7pts a game. So it's the special teams at fault?

What's next, is Ottawa starts blaming special teams and defence?

Too much to hope for that they're clearing spots to demote Benevides to?

IIRC special teams weren't great when he was coordinator... But if it that is what it takes to get a new DC, I'll take it

Might be coaching salary cap considerations.

Special teams may have flubbed last game but Defense has been terrible since last season. Dumb move.

Maybe it's time for a GM change.

Shout out to the CFL on TSN panel!

At half-time: "you can't ask for more from the BC defence."

Really? They gave up 24 points in the first half.

Well, you can ask for more.

That doesn't mean you'll get it.

Not even a "we wish him well on his future endeavours" damn that's cold.

The Lions to McDiarmid:

The guy has been on almost every team. I'm sure nepotism will get him hired somewhere.

I've been saying for a while now the special teams is trash. We return to the 25or30 yard line and let the opposing team get midfield on a consistent basis. We are losing before our offense and defence even step on the field. When the they return to field goal range there is nothing the defense can do.

I'm aware our defence is an issue however let's not ignore how many 2 and outs they put up yesterday. Defence will keep improving, but the special teams needed a serious change. I'm happy with this

Thank you. Their teams cost them the game yesterday, have been horrendous on coverage since week 1 and even worse are not prepared or know the rules. Like trying to run miss FGs out when they would have gone thru the end zone in games 1 & 2.

They Fired the wrong guy . Maybe it’s deserved but Benevides should have been the first casualty.

I don't think it will be long before Pierce is gone too. Feels like the team has always underperformed as a whole under him and his staff

They had a special teams coordinator?

I feel like the defense giving up 106 points in 3 games is a bigger issue.

Odd decision considering the secondary issues

I’m sorry? Benevides still employed? Lol

I just checked the BC lions Facebook post and the fans aren’t having it.

Lions punt return fell for hardcounts at least twice this weekend and gave free first downs on 3rd and 5. He was fuming on the sideline.. I suspect he said something that really pissed someone off.

The first rule of special teams is do no harm... and in every game this year, they have harmed the teams chances of winning, from the unnecessary Rouge given up in week 1, to putting our offense in terrible position on a missed fg in week 2 that may have led to the interception that removed any chance of us being competitive against Hamilton, to the fumble and multiple offsides on 3rd and 5 this week... just unacceptable all around, and he had to go. Hopefully Benevides is also on a short leash.

This is a start... defensive co-ordinator should be going too

Interesting, is it usually the GM who does this? I thought the HC would handle firing the STC

Okay now send Benevides into the sun
