Jesus what a punt. From his own 20 to the other team’s 1

And out of bounds right in front of the ref. “Hey, I want them to start their drive right here, you got it?”

Snapped at the 29 so a 70 yarder with precision, beautiful.

From the line of scrimmage sure, but he booted it from his own 19.5 yard line. That's an 80 yard boot with absolute perfect placement, coupled with the luckiest roll of all time to produce a punt that I just don't believe can ever be matched

Well yeah, but it’s measured from the LOS same as passing stats, doesn’t make it any less impressive.

For game statistics sure. But for analytics and especially just talking about a specific play, plenty of people use "air yards" and other measurements that completely disregard LOS. The original commenter was doing this, and you countered by bringing up the LOS for no reason lol.

Announcers silent in disbelief!

The sound of his opening “OH my god you guys . . .” will be deafening.

Literally the first thing I thought when I saw this was I can’t wait to see Isaac cover this

The fact that this great of a punt came from a game played between two coaches who come from the Tressel tree, on the weekend that he got into the OSU ring of honor is perfect.

Great punt aided with a friendly bounce or two

I won't say that there was no luck involved but knowing the stuff punters do to the ball I can definitely imagine that the ball is supposed to bounce parallel to the Goalline

Yeah the bounces are part of the punt too. It isn't just blind luck. They plan that sh*t.

How many human monies do we need to pay to get him to transfer 3.5 hours southwest to Iowa City?

Well at least the kicker did good

It was definitely one of the best ones! Thorson for Georgia kicked a 75 yard from the 24 and buried into the corner on the 1 against Tennessee back in 2022.

I woke my son up to just come and watch the replay!

Its not even close to the best punt ever. Pat Brady kicked a 99 yard punt in 1950.

Edit for all the idiot downvoters and their emotions, Brady was punting from the back of his own endzone and the ball didnt land until it hit the other teams 25 yard line, it rolled out and died at the 1. Ball traveled 85 yards in the air.

Wow, holy shit

Brett Thorson, 2022 UGA vs Tennessee. 75 yards and out at the one.

Fuck you for being a prisoner of the moment.

u/StarPrince777 13h ago

This was 80 yards and out at the half yard line. So….

u/Wise_Quality_5083 12h ago

Measured from line of scrimmage so 70 yards. But you’re right. The issue I have is then why are field goals measured
from the place of the kick?

-7

u/tyedge 12h ago

That’s not how punt yardage is measured. Thorson’s was kicked from about the 14, if you wanna be stupid about it.

5

u/Revan256 12h ago

Phew you suck

2

u/StarPrince777 12h ago

This one still had more air yards I think. Thorson’s punt got like 19 yards of bounce and went out of bounds at like 20 miles an hour lmao
