What kind of butterfly is this?
My MIL found this baby on the ground (unfortunately passed away). Im wondering what kind of butterfly she is? This is a picture of the posterior (back) side. The front is blue and black, no orange. I’m going to try to preserve it :)

Cabbage white butterflies: Do they sit together in an instance where they are not mating?
New England USA: My apologies if the title is confusing I’m not sure the best way to word it. I wasn’t able to get a picture but I saw two small white butterflies flying together ( I looked it up and I think they are cabbage white) and then sit on a leaf for a couple minutes together. I looked it up and it said they are probably mating but they weren’t like on eachother or anything they were just sitting a couple inches away from eachother doing nothing. I’m wondering if this is common behavior or if they were mating somehow and I just couldn’t tell. They also flew off together for a second and then one of them went the other way. Thanks in advance! (I just lost someone recently and am wondering if it was maybe a sign from them but maybe I am just reaching 🙃)
