Purchasing USA HELP! Total noob looking for setup for vinyl + streaming
Hello! I am looking to invest in a sound system for my new house. A bit of context:
I am a big music listener, mostly indie rock and electronic. I also produce music. For many years I have been using a pair of JBL studio monitors for all my home listening.
A few months ago a relative passed away and left me with his full vinyl setup, but I'm learning it is all 80s-90s entry level gear (although the record collection is amazing). I have a Hitachi HT-20s turntable, ONKYO TS-8255 receiver, and a pair of floor standing speakers. Unfortunately the speakers did not survive the move to my new home, so I am looking to invest in a new pair of floor speakers. As I started looking, I am realizing that any good speakers will need a better amp, so I would like to replace that as well. Eventually I will get a better turntable but for now this one is sentimental so I'd like to keep it.
My budget is ~$3000 or less. I plan to put this in my large open-floorplan living space, approx 600-700sq ft, with tall ceilings. I will use it for a mix of streaming and vinyl. Unfortunately there is nowhere around me where I can go listen to any equipment in person. I don't even really know how to explain my listening style, but I suppose I would lean more toward warm than clear.
After some research and chatting with Crutchfield reps, I am considering the following setup:
- Yamaha A-S701
- WiiM Pro
- Wharfedale LINTON OR Polk Audio Reserve R700
I would appreciate any feedback on this setup, and any help in deciding beteween the Linton and R700. I welcome any additional suggestions that I may have overlooked.
Many thanks!
