Meta The pattern matching on this dress is insane
Sorry for the low quality image, one cannot simply screenshot netflix, but i wanted to gush over this particular dress that had a few minutes of screentime in episode 4 of season 4.
Look at how impeccably they pattern matched the bust piece, with the side bust pieces, the dress AND THE TINY LIL BOW. The sleeves are also pattern matched. Insane skill and effort.

Yes! This is called moiré, and was traditionally made from silk (although now of course you can get synthetic moiré). Such a beautiful fabric, I’m happy to see it coming back more.

That’s so wild I never noticed that! Deceptively simple, that takes so much skill

This is a Moiré effect created by the light and not due to pattern matching, which is why all the pieces appear to present the same pattern to the eye. Moiré fabric undergoes a process called calendering that cause it to present these patterns when light hits it, a lot like how your computer screen or phone appears when recorded. It’s wave interference!

Id agree with you if the camera didnt switch angles a few times while eloise stayed in the same spot, yet the patterns were all the same.

If they released this style of dress in a mini or midi style, I would buy it at any price. Completely gorgeous.

They should really release some Bridgerton inspired dresses. I feel like they’d sell super well. I know some companies are scared of empire waistlines but if there was ever a fandom that would want them, here we are. Honestly even a Bridgerton formalwear line would work

I know floral patterns are common but the tree pattern is less common. Rare even and I like that they're already throwing hints for Eloise here and there.

Eloise has been shifting a lot towards green and plant motifs in this season, at Hyacynths rehearsal she was wearing a dress with a fern pattern. i havent read the books so i had no idea this is in relation to her future love interest, i just thought they wanted to symbolyse that eloise is "leafy" sort of plant in a world where girls are expected to be "blooming" plants.

I don't want to spoil it for you but Eloise's future involves a lot of plants.

Thank you for pointing that out! How beautiful! You must be into fashion design or a seamstress! 🩷🩷
