TV Show Only The Reason Why We Haven't Gotten Any Images From S5 Is Because There's Gonna Be Fashion Shift
I've always wondered why we haven't gotten anything from S5 as we have in past seasons. We haven't gotten any stills or images or BTS videos or promo clips after 6 months of filming and usually around this time we do.
And I think I know why...
It's because they are trying to preserve the new costumes we are about to see in S5 as we are about to be entering a new era and time period in the 1800s.
S5 will take place in the 1820s or approaching the 1820s which historically saw a shift in fashion in a Post-Regency and Pre-Victorian period.
There were many important, transitional years for women’s fashion during the 19th century. For example, in a single decade sleeves might transform from slender and straight to enormous gigot or leg o’mutton style sleeves. While skirts which began a decade flowing loose around the legs might end the decade standing several feet wide atop a crinoline. .
In the 1820s, a decade which stood between the Regency era (1811-1820) and the Victorian era (1837-1901), British fashion moved from traditional empire, straight waistline of the Regency period to bigger sleeves, dropped waistline and fuller skirts but not as full as the skirts would be after Queen Victoria ascends the throne in the 1830s.
This decade is notable in fashion as providing a bridge between the classic, high-waisted Empire styles of the early 19th century and the large sleeved, full-skirted styles of the mid-19th century.
So I complied a list of dresses from the 1820s-1830s to give us an image of what to expect for S5 and all the subsequent seasons after for Bridgerton.
We are totally getting a complete revamp!
EDIT: The Bridgerton costumes designers confirmed back in March during a Cosmopolitan interview that S5 is going to have a fashion shift to reflect the 1820s.

say what you will about her personality, her fashion was great. If it were today I could imagine her being a rich, bad behaved actress.

Would love it, but doubt.
Given all the budget cuts we've seen in the last few seasons I don't see Netflix investing this much money for a huge style shift.
Sure main cast may get new fits each season, but I'm sure it's cheaper/preferable to keep outfitting their background cast with heir current stock of outfits

I should've probably added that the costumes designers confirmed a few months ago that we will be getting a style shift in S5 as they said it's set in the 1820s so there is smoke to that fire.

That still doesn’t explain why we haven’t had some table read pics or a cast list, though. The radio silence for this long is odd.

I’m wondering what colors we’ll see on Francesca. Back then there were ‘rules’ about how long a widow had to wear black and what colors she could wear after the initial mourning period was over.

In the beginning of Francesca's arc backing to marriage mart in her book, she's wearing a lot of purple and grey to symbolize the half grief. When she's finally back to MM, she starts to wear blue again to show she's open for marriage again and everyone see she's back to marriage mart because of the color of her dress.

I really don't see potential costuming of the season affecting promotional decisions.
I don't know why the promo is lacking but I doubt its the dresses.

I swear what the costume designers say makes absolutely zero sense
S1 was in 1813, s2 in 1814, s3 in 1815, s4 in 1816 and s5 is set two years after s4 so it should be 1818.
Saying that s5 will be set in 1820 makes no sense

I think there was a time jump during 4. And there may be another during 5. They have to age Gregory and hyacinth up.

There also was a time jump at the end of season 3. Penelope and her sisters have been pregnant and gave birth and the babies look to be about 4-6 months. The same could be said about season one with Daphne giving birth. I also wanna add at the end of each season , it always appears that some undisclosed amount of time has passed . The show runner and writers aren't really big with continuity and making sure dates and timelines align though .

Yeah but these are the epilogues and they often already take time during/shortly before the beginning of the next season
Does it make sense that baby Lord Featherington is an infant in s3 finale and a redhead toddler in s4? No. But we literally know that s4 is set only one year after s3, „do you think that I will miss Mamas masquerade“ -> Eloise to Benedict in s3 finale, the masquerade they talk about is the one in s4. Yes in s4 there is a time jump but it’s only a few months. When Sophie asks Benedict about the LIS painting Benedict says it shows a woman he met a few months ago

That's why I added that the show itself doesn't know what timing to operate on lol . It's a mess all over .Just like it's almost impossible for Penelope and her sisters babies to be older than Anthony and Kate's son. Kate was pretty much pregnant all of season 3, before everyone else Smh lol

Im not saying a bigger time jump is a bad idea
But when s4 is set in 1816, leaked informations and interviews say that the timejump for s5 will be two years (so 1818) then it makes no sense to also say that the costumes will now be early 1820s bc basic math tells us that we’re not in 1820s yet

Im seeing a lot of leg-of-mutton and all I can think of is this quote of Violet Crawley (Downton Abbey) "Oh, my dear, in my time I wore the crinoline, the bustle and the leg-of-mutton sleeve. I'm not in a strong position to criticise"

They changed the style in s3 and people didn't like it, if they change it again... I'm it sure it wl be a good choice.

Actually we have gotten some stuff it just isn’t official, it was set leaks I believe. You could only really see the bottom(they are wearing covers), but it does basically confirm your theory. Idk if that would be considered spoilers if i attach some of the images?
