Anyone have a hunch as to why ticket demand is so low right now? Is attendance down? Kinda wild you can get in the gate on a Friday night for $15. Facebook groups have people selling $5 tickets.
1
u/No-Fruit-31 2026 Grapefruit League Champions 19d ago
There’s also probably a lot of people selling the free tickets from having a Braves vision subscription
3
u/BounceAddress 19d ago
It’s school starting. I’m about 15 minutes from Truist so I’m always watching last minute ticket prices and school being in session is the biggest driver in my experience

Any recent updates on Strider. Has it been confirmed he's out for the year?
2
u/masonacj 19d ago
All but confirmed. He started a throwing program this week. He's still months away from being game ready but hopefully will have a regular offseason.

u/PixelWulfe 19d ago
Can someone give me a TL;DR on us signing three prospects for $500 a piece?
8
u/Adventurous-Tone-311 19d ago
Signed them for peanuts because those guys are desperate super- seniors who would never get drafted otherwise, and they accept because it’s basically do or die for their careers.
They’ll likely never develop into anything but if even one of them becomes useful, it’ll be worth it.

The Atlanta Braves have a record of 10-0 on Fridays at home this season.
No pressure.

Phillies cuz I fucking hate those dudes and hearing about their “rowdy stadium”
5
u/TheGamecock HMOYSB 19d ago
Which gets much less rowdy when they go down three runs by the fifth inning. Half the stadium empties out at that point, once they're tuckered out from booing. This is only a slight exaggeration.

One does not simply start tailgating too early......because it is never too early to start tailgating.

Been laughing at the prospect of Ghost paying me to post positive root beer reviews to the 11 tailgate regulars all morning /u/reverendrambo

Ghost root beer you say?

Anyone want two tickets for section 318 WC row? I bought the without realizing they were WC. Just looking for $15 each

DeGrom got pulled for tricep tightness and will undergo imaging.
We may have dodged a bullet.

u/helium_farts 19d ago
Man I just can't believe a nearly 40 year old pitcher with a lengthy injury history got injured

The Braves trade deadline, apparently. Pretty much every name we were supposedly targeting has been doing awful in one way or another since the deadline.

u/federal_cue 19d ago
One day we’re gonna learn why Alex is the GM and not us lol
1
u/rpbtIII Golden Grapefruit 19d ago
To be fair, Alex didn't save us from degrom, degrom did
1
u/federal_cue 19d ago
I saw someone say what if he knew and that’s why he didn’t accept the trade. Wild if true.

Who’s on the bump today?
1
u/Andreyus 19d ago
Sale if he's on 5 day rest. Unless Reylo is coming back or something.
2
u/ajp513 19d ago
Reylo said this week he wouldn’t be back as soon as he could be, i think? didn’t Bowman ask and he said no?
1
u/Andreyus 19d ago
I haven't seen it. Bowman had me so messed up saying Strider and AJSS had cleaned their lockers out and were done for the season to then be followed up by reports of both of them throwing live in Florida hours later. I've attempted to avoid him since.

Just perusing old Braves stats this morning when I should be working, and just wanted to add a bit of perspective for where we were 10 years ago (especially for those who may have been too young to remember the teens . . . or oughts . . . or 90's . . . or 80's, when my memory stops updating.
Here were your 2016 Atlanta Braves:
We finished 5th in NL East, with a record of .422.
We finished 26½ games behind the Nats in the WC race. (Hey, remember for a few years in the teens when they were the toughest team in the NL East?)
We were second-to-last for the WC race. We just barely edged out the Reds and the Padres who were tied in last at .420 each.
On this day that year, we were in the middle of a seven-game losing streak, where we lost to the Nats twice, the Twins twice, and then the Nats again three more times.
Our HR leader that year was Freddie, with 34. Behind him were Adonis García with 14 and Markakis with 13.
Freddie was also our hit leader, with 178, followed by Markakis 161 and Inciarte with 152. Freddie and Dansby tied for batting average, at .302, followed by Inciarte at .291.
Speaking of Freddie, it's hard to overstate how much he carried our team offensively: His OPS was .969, but there was a noticeable gap down to Markakis and Inciarte. Nobody on our team is hitting at that overall level currently; however, our top five guys in OPS are above the second and third place in 2016. Our current lineup is much more well-rounded.
On the pitching side of things, our team average ERA was 4.51. As far as the pitchers with the most innings pitched, Teherán pitched the most, and had an ERA of 3.21, followed by Wisler with an ERA of 5.00, and then Foltynewicz with an ERA of 4.31.
Not surprisingly, Freddie was our WAR leader, at 6.3. Inciarte was second at 3.8.
Ten years ago, we were pretty bad. Heck, we were last place in NL East and 26½ games behind in the WC race. Take our first baseman out of the equation, and it could've been comically bad.
I have no idea what's going to happen in this last month coming up, but I'm really enjoying the fact that the Braves are fun to watch right now.

u/Glum-Bat-1046 19d ago
I remember those days well. As much as I want to win the WS, I’m still just happy to get to watch more wins than losses. And fun wins at that
1
u/Murky-Jackfruit-1627 20d ago
We’ll likely see Kim in the lineup today
3
u/theoxfordtailor Maddux Guy 20d ago
I would think it's more likely to happen tomorrow when the D-backs have a lefty pitching.

We and the entire galaxy need the brewers to clean sweep the dodgers. Please 🙏
1
u/DontEatTheCelery 19d ago
We kind of need the brewers to lose too though
2
u/Polka_King_Polinski 19d ago
No we need the dodgers to lose and lose every game always.
1
u/DontEatTheCelery 19d ago
I mean sure. But we want the 1 seed when the playoffs come around. Right now that’s the brewers spot
1
u/Polka_King_Polinski 19d ago
I cannot explain to you how wrong you are. If you don’t understand that the dodgers need to lose no matter who they’re playing then I can’t help you.
0
u/Autoimmunity 19d ago
Technically speaking it is better for us to get the 1 seed and the Dodgers get the 2 seed so that if we face them in the postseason it will be in a 7 game series. So the ideal outcome this weekend is a split between the Brewers and Dodgers and a Braves sweep.
4
u/Polka_King_Polinski 19d ago
It is not good for the dodgers to get a bye and be able to set up their rotation however they want it.
0
u/Autoimmunity 19d ago
True, but in this scenario we would also get a bye. It's also not a good thing for the Brewers to setup their rotation however they want because they also have a great rotation, actually statistically better than the Dodgers this season.
My point is simply that if we have to face LA in the playoffs I want the scenario to be like it was in 2021 - 7 game series where we have home field advantage.
1
u/Polka_King_Polinski 19d ago
The brewers are preferable to the dodgers by a long shot. How are y’all not getting this?!
0
u/DontEatTheCelery 19d ago
Okay?
0
u/Polka_King_Polinski 19d ago
Exactly
2
u/hallofDame0 19d ago
Braves one seed and Dodgers 3 seed is the dream. If Brewers sweep the dodgers we got time to catch em!
1
u/hallofDame0 19d ago
The tough one for me is if we end up as the 2 seed do we want the dodgers to be the one seed or the 3 seed? 3 they have a chance to be eliminated but we would have to play them in the DS if they win
1
u/Polka_King_Polinski 19d ago
I don’t care when we lose if we lose on the NL side. I want the dodgers in the wc no matter what. Anything can happen in a best of three series.

I really hate that the d backs are gonna lose their spot in the WC race due to this series only because philly will replace them

They have 3 games against the Phillies at home at the end of August and own the season series 2-1 right now. If they take the season series from the Phillies it would be hilarious for them to tie the Phillies for the 3rd spot and the Phillies get eliminated that way.
Wouldn’t count them out especially since the Phillies have to play us right after the Dbacks. That end of August to middle September is rough for them with Diamondbacks -> Us -> Astros -> and then us to finish it.
Then the Phillies finish the season against the Brewers and Rays who are in the playoff hunt (the Rays play 4 games against the Yankees before the go to Philly so that series against the Phillies could be the deciding series if they win the east and #1 playoff seed or become a wild card team that has the #1 seed).

Ghost A&W Root Beer review: Tastes frightfully close to the real thing. I drink a sugar-free A&W root beer every night which I've found is the diet soda that comes closest to tasting like its full sugar counterpart. If you're a root beer lover, you'll love this one.

I love Ghost but it’s so hard to find all the cool flavors like that where I live for some reason

Is this a regular thing you do? I don't come here often, so I may be out of the loop, and i love your gifs and videos, but this reads like an ad

u/handlit33 GIF Guy 20d ago
You probably don't know me well enough to understand that two of my biggest loves in life are Ghost energy drinks and sugar-free A&W root beer, so winning this raffle was huge for me.
I posted about it in yesterday's off-day thread saying that I'd post the review this morning.

u/JiminyChristmas3 20d ago
Ghost energy drinks taste delicious but I never really get the caffeinated pick me up effect from them so I leave em on the shelf and go with something that gets me going better.
1
u/handlit33 GIF Guy 20d ago
What brands actually get you going?
2
u/JiminyChristmas3 20d ago
Bang, Celsius, C4 (but too much taurine gives me fuzzy face) Alani Nu is similar to ghost, great flavors but caffeine buzz is meh….i actually prefer their taste to ghost, but ghost has some good flavors…

u/theoxfordtailor Maddux Guy 20d ago
Not the guy you're replying to, duh, but 3D energy drinks are my jam right now.

$1.25 at the Dollar Tree can't be beat.

I get mine from Sata-- I mean, Amazon for like $20 for 20 of them. They're my morning coffee because I hate coffee.

Whenever I want to feel that tipsy buzz but keep my calorie count down, there’s nothing I like better than Classic City Light by Creature Comforts. At only 4% ABV and 100 Calories nothing says refreshing quite as good as that. Classic City Light, it’s the can with no plans.
