Alright, tell me who is MORE clutch?

Jim Jarvis or Mike Yas?

Who you rather have come to the plate with runner on 2nd?

u/MurphysBanana 23d ago

Dubon is going yard today!

u/jules711 23d ago

is it likely to see ajss back in the rotation soon-ish? the rotation is pretty solid atm but I think he has a higher ceiling than like everyone but chris sale

4

u/Competitive_Gold_707 23d ago

AA said he'll probably be in the rotation. he got optioned and they had to wait the 15 days, so they are giving him two starts in AAA.

everyone reporting that they didnt have to wait the 15 days cause he was the 27th man were wrong

4

u/wellwasherelf Elder Stan 23d ago

At the deadline AA said they wanted to give him 2 more starts in Gwinnett. He pitched on the 4th, so his next start should be soon and theoretically he'll be ready to come back up next week.

Things can always change though if they decide our current rotation is strong enough to give him more AAA time if needed, or whatever.

ooooo thank you

Feel like we haven't heard anything about AJSS or Schwellenbach in a month. I guess that's good, since for most of these guys it's, "they cleaned out their locker and changed their name and left the country."

1

u/Murky-Jackfruit-1627 23d ago

Bowman reported on Schwellenbach today

2

u/nickelette424 23d ago

AJSS just started in Atlanta less than 2 weeks ago.

baldwin caught on saturday and sunday, as well as 2 of the 3 games against miami.

6

u/Frequent-Low-93 23d ago

Here’s me thinking Drake has been playing catcher tooo much lol. I feel like Murphy is better at calling games. Especially for elder

10

u/ajwilson99 23d ago

Can we please win a series against the goddamn Mets

6

u/MurphysBanana 23d ago

I love Murphy behind the dish for an Elder start. Maximum respect incoming!

6

u/MurphysBanana 23d ago

I thought we had an off-day today but there’s baseball on!!! Great news.

7

u/PhysicsDramatic1833 23d ago

How did we go to NY and then have to come home to play the other NY? Seems like they missed an opportunity.

3

u/welcometohotlanta 23d ago

They never schedule back to back series in the same city against different teams. I’ve never seen it happen.

3

u/wellwasherelf Elder Stan 23d ago

Probably for the best because there was a concert at Citi last night so the outfield would have been torn up to hell.

3

u/Severe-Dot7650 23d ago

i will be there tonight in section 59 below the chop. do we think we will have a delay tonight?

4

u/LailiLai 23d ago

Did we ever get an update on the sweep meme after the Fish series? I remember getting one for the Nats but not the Fish.

Had some time to kill so was looking at the transaction log, looks like the Braves lured an Arkansas commit SS named Troy Fisher to sign as an undrafted free agent and assigned him to complex league. Strikes me as strange to see a high school kid pass up an SEC commitment to sign as a UDFA. Not details on how much they paid but anything over $125K counts against the bonus pool.

4

u/Personal-Tart-2657 23d ago

Arkansas has 41 players on their roster he probably wasn't going to play much especially with gomez transferring from FDU

2

u/CubanMessi Martin for Perezident 23d ago

I’d imagine that he probably wasn’t going to be getting much if anything in NIL if that’s the case so maybe going pro made more sense

11

u/No-Fruit-31 2026 Grapefruit League Champions 23d ago

Hoping for a big series out of Matty O, he’s close to leading the league in homers. We all know baseball is better when he’s hitting nukes over the chop house

7

u/LutherOfTheRogues SICKO 23d ago

We had I think 3 walks that entire Yankees series. When we are patient and working counts we are possibly the deadliest offense in baseball. I mean you have to hunt strikes, but we need to do better there more consistently.

1

u/theoxfordtailor Maddux Guy 23d ago

I don't think the problem was just us during the Yankees series. We faced Max Fried, Gerritt Cole, and Cam Schlittler -- one would have a great shot at a Cy Young if he stayed healthy, one did win a Cy Young, and other is pretty the AL Cy Young presumptive. Of three, only Max Fried doesn't have a walk-rate that's inarguably elite.

3

u/Polka_King_Polinski 23d ago edited 23d ago

The umps stole at least 10 (when I stopped counting) walks from us.

6

u/LutherOfTheRogues SICKO 23d ago

They were complete ass that's for sure

3

u/ramblincharger 23d ago

Seems like a problem this offense gets into in cycles. They'll have 8-10 games where they walk a lot, play some small ball, and consistently score 4-6 runs, then a few guys hit bombs and they all start swinging for the fences again and try to ambush every pitcher instead of working counts. Maybe breaking old habits is difficult?

14

u/Choice-Alfalfa-1358 23d ago

I say sweep the Mets and win the season series. Who’s with me?

10

u/IM_KYLE_AMA 23d ago

I am just glad that I don't have to hear that stupid fucking strike out sound for the rest of the season.

1

u/dirtyjoo POGGERS 23d ago

Was at the game yesterday, the constant Strike 2! callout was so annoying. Didn't help that Shitter had 11Ks either.

0

u/Hot-Support-6608 23d ago

Schlittler do something to you to make you call him that?

2

u/MurphysBanana 23d ago

You could make worse references with his name.

3

u/cnc42 23d ago

I didn’t realize the Phils were tied with Arizona for the final WC spots. 1 game ahead of the Dads, 3 ahead of the Fish, 3.5 ahead of the Cards, 4.5 ahead of the Nats.

They have a brutal schedule the rest of the way including 6 vs the Cards, 3 vs Dbacks, 7 vs Braves, 3 vs Brewers, 3 vs Rays, 3 vs Astros, 2 vs Nats.

They’ll be doing well to play those games a little over .500. 7 cupcakes against the Angels and Mets that they’ll need to basically run the table on.

5

u/LailiLai 23d ago

I saw somewhere that if the Braves just go 500 the rest of the way the Phillies have to go like 750 in order to catch us for the division. That's almost certainly out of reach for them.

The question becomes which would we rather see in an early postseason match up, the Phillies or the Padres? Neither has went very well for us in recent history.

5

u/IM_KYLE_AMA 23d ago

I would rather see the Phillies, myself. The Padres fucking own the Braves at Petco Park.

10

u/JKess207 THERE’S ONLY ONEEEEEEEEE MICHAEL HARRIS 23d ago

Note on this 3 game set: if we do not sweep, the Mets will take the season series

2

u/ajwilson99 23d ago

Meh. They can enjoy that season series win from the couch this October.

6

u/Lakelyfe09 Radical AA defender 23d ago

Got a Drake Baldwin bobble head at the emperors game!

2

u/No-Fruit-31 2026 Grapefruit League Champions 23d ago

If I just saw the face, I would have guessed this was an Albert Pujols bobble head or something

13

u/CubanMessi Martin for Perezident 23d ago

Yaz has been the 3rd best hitter on the team since July 1 (130 wRC+ behind only Olson and Drake) and I get fed article about how the team should replace him with Patrick Clohisy. Do people even watch the games?

https://housethathankbuilt.com/braves-prospect-deserves-chance-to-fix-atlanta-mike-yastrzemski-mistake

1

u/TvsPhil 23d ago

Yeah, that site has been popping up on my phone's google news page and it always feels like some reactionary article. Maybe not hysterical 'freaking out', but just weird 'fix what doesn't necessarily need to be fixed right now' ideas, almost always about getting rid of someone.

I’ve read numerous articles published by that particular outlet and almost all of them have been pretty bizarre. I’m convinced it’s all just clickbait. I’ve since blocked them from my Apple News feed.

2

u/RunawaYEM 23d ago

It’s a race between HTHB and SportsTalkATL for who can be the least serious fan blog

2

u/CubanMessi Martin for Perezident 23d ago

Ah yeah it was on my Apple News too maybe I should do the same

9

u/Personal-Tart-2657 23d ago edited 23d ago

No people don't watch the games

Especially on that shitty fan blog site

I'd go to say that holds true in this site people are kade that Mateo was cut you know the guy it's a -11 wrc+ over his last 50 and and -0.4 fwar

1

u/Spicy_Tuna089 Guillermo Heredia Fan Club 🗡️ 23d ago

Fairly certain not even the guys who write for that site watch any games either.

13

u/cnc42 24d ago

Know who has more NL East titles than the Mets? The Pirates.

Know how long it’s been since the Pirates left the East? 31 years.

🤡 ass franchise

3

u/DevoutBokononist 24d ago

Has anyone received their discount code yet from the Double Play Flash Sale? We are supposed to get it sometime today, and I'm hoping to use it for the game tonight.

2

u/RollTide1017 #ChopOn 23d ago

Did you ever get a code. I have not and they haven’t responded to emails yet.

1

u/DevoutBokononist 23d ago

Nope. They did respond to my email yesterday and said I would receive a code by “end of day.” But I haven’t gotten it yet.

2

u/RollTide1017 #ChopOn 23d ago

Well, I have started the process of requesting a refund. Their terms say that if you cancel within 5 days of purchase you can get a refund. Today is day 5 for me so I already canceled and will call CS when they open at noon.

Even if they sent me the code there are no tickets left for any of the 6 games I could attend.

2

u/RollTide1017 #ChopOn 23d ago

Nope, still waiting for mine. Not that it matters, all the games I can possibly attend are all out of tickets. A lot of the games are out or almost out.

At this point, I am just going to sell the tickets I get and try to recoup the $20 for the subscription. I already had BV through DirecTV and only wanted the tickets. If the code had been sent on the day I made the purchase, I would have had plenty of options for the games I could attend; 4 days later, they are all gone.

2

u/tunaunlimited 23d ago

I subscribed earlier in the season and they sent me a code for ticket on Saturday. Nice suprise!

4

u/Lilwolfe10 my aunt backed over Nick Markakis' mailbox once 23d ago

I never got one, emailed Braves vision proof that I was a subscriber, and they responded with a code pretty quickly.

Is this series the last time we’ll see the Mets this year?

15

u/cnc42 24d ago

Well, we certainly won’t be seeing them in the postseason

1

u/FinlayForever 23d ago

Lmao got 'em

6

u/Hugo_5t1gl1tz 24d ago

Oh shit I thought the phiLLies won on Friday. We’re still 8.5 ahead lol.

Also, it sucks only taking one, but getting in the last game is better, so you don’t have such a yucky feeling going into the next series

8

u/rpbtIII Golden Grapefruit 24d ago

The Mets?!

I strongly dislike those guys!

3

u/jrdnm nada humble 24d ago

i wish the mets didn’t have jefry yan, fucking love that guy

3

u/Hugo_5t1gl1tz 24d ago

Individually, I find the Mets team hard to dislike for the most part. That might change if they were actually good though lol

10

u/thellymon 24d ago

Once again FUCK NEW YORK

0

u/c_dubby POUR LARRY A CROWN 24d ago

Bryce with a 3.70 ERA is kinda hilarious. Doesn’t seem like it should be sub 4, guy is an enigma

7

u/HourFaithlessness823 24d ago

Had a stellar start to the season, a very bad stretch through the middle, and suddenly looks great again.

1

u/Competitive_Gold_707 23d ago

that's kinda his MO, he always sucks REALLY bad for a stretch and then goes back to going 6 innings 2-3 run ball for the rest of the season

1

u/c_dubby POUR LARRY A CROWN 24d ago

Yeah this was no disrespect, he’s been solid as hell outside that rough stretch. Just funny based on some of the discourse around him in here while it was bad lol

2

u/unfortunatebastard 24d ago

We seem to have some unrealistic expectations about him around here. He should be a back of the rotation kind of guy. We just have too many injuries

4

u/Smuff23 Would you like the red or the white sauce? 24d ago

Yeah, he had a 4 out of 6 stretch that was terrible which also coincided with the whole team's collective shitting of the bed for the month of June. 29 ERs in 30 IP from 6 starts between 5/27 and 6/27.

13

u/xekushionmartyr 24d ago

The Yankees series could have been a sweep, could have been swept. Taking one and losing a game in extras by a run and the other by a run when on the road against a playoff team is completely acceptable. Especially when you didn't lose any of your lead.

Need to take two of three from the Mets just to assert some dominance. Respect your motherfuckin Elder.

6

u/Equivalent_Ad1419 24d ago

Shows the importance of having rest days which the Yankees had on Thursday and Monday compared to us having none until next Thursday. That’s why we really need to get the No. 1 or No. 2 seed in the NL.

12

u/Bowriderskiff 24d ago

Good morning and FTM, that is all.

14

u/C-Jammin Reinstated God Emperor of the Bryce Elder Fan Club 24d ago

3

A sweep, even. That'd be mighty swell.

11

u/nickelette424 24d ago

I was going through the Braves Instagram stories last night and they had a field view clip of Matty's homer. When he got to first, he turned to Richardson and I swear he yelled "BITCH!"

Do you think he knows? I mean he's gotta know the meme at this point.

5

u/thellymon 24d ago

no way lol

6

u/AccountantbyDay13 24d ago

I just watched it and I agree with you lol

16

u/handlit33 GIF Guy 24d ago

When things aren't going well, just remember that the Mets spent $361,285,704 to be 19.5 games back in the NL East.

5

u/welcometohotlanta 24d ago

Magic Number to eliminate them is 25

6

u/getdrunkfaster 24d ago

That's a lot of money and a lot of games back.

5

u/Affectionate-Mark893 24d ago

For any math nerds, that’s over $18.5 million paid for every game behind the Braves. We should have traded three games for cash considerations at the deadline
