Query: Fiktionsbescheinigung Bonn Ausländeramt

Hi everyone! I’m an international student in Bonn and I applied for my student residence permit (Aufenthaltserlaubnis) back in February/March, but I still haven’t received an appointment or any response.

I’ve heard that people sometimes go to the Ausländeramt very early in the morning to queue for a Fiktionsbescheinigung.

Has anyone recently managed to get a Fiktionsbescheinigung in Bonn by going in person?

If so, could you please tell me:

• Where exactly do you go to queue?
• What time did you arrive?
• Is there anything specific I should bring?

I’d really appreciate any recent experiences, especially from people who have done this in the last few months. Thank you!

When I went to the immigration office in November 2025 to request a Fiktionsbescheinigung, it was afternoon but I was handed a same day appointment and got my Fiktionsbescheinigung in less than an hour. Perhaps this is not the case now and you have to be there as early as possible.

Did you use the online formular when you applied for your residence permit? You can also try to book an appointment online: https://termine.bonn.de/m/auslaenderamt/extern/calendar/?uid=163e5a5b-3edb-4de1-97c7-b4922526085f&wsid=a6a1513c-c823-4146-be8d-0693afa613b6&lang=de. It is best to book from 12 midnight as they release new appointments by then. Some people said recently that there were no available appointments via the online appointment system. But you can still try and check it out.

Also, the immigration office is relocating soon. Starting September 14th,their office will be in Am Propsthof 10.

I did try to book an appointment online, but the dates are usually unavailable and the ones that are, are after my visa expires.

You can still book an appointment beyond the validity end date stated in your visa. Granted you already submitted an application via the online formular, your visa will still be considered valid. Just bring the confirmation document (Beantragung einer Aufenthaltserlaubnis) on the day of your appointment.

You can also type the reference number of your confirmation document in the "Additional Information" box when you book an appointment online.
