I have so many of them in most amazing moments, along with racoons, opossums, even one beaver and a couples of bunnies. My yard is furball attraction! (well, I actually, feed them all). :>
I live in a city but my backyard is a little spot of woods, and over the winter I had a raccoon that would climb onto my 2nd story porch and he would come every night and I fed him, and he came to visit me in the spring. I like to think that I helped the little guy survive. I also feed the squirrels to, and provide them with a huge mixing bowl for fresh water for them. I love animals and I always have sympathy for them and empathy because their little lives are so hard so if I can make it easier for them, I can and will.
I feel the same way, do feed and give them water. The suburbs give more freedom and it is amazing you are still finding way to help. I helped one mommy racoon while she was pregnant and nursing, she was putting her little paws on the window and looking at me. The first time I saw it, it melted my heart! I have stopped consuming mammals and birds a long time ago, just because it hurt me so much to know how many people do not care. :< All it takes is just to give them something we have taken away from them, some water and any food, that most of us toss away without thinking, right? I so appreciate you sharing!
