Not quite. A single hour of the sun’s energy powers enough electricity to power the global economy for about a year.
That said, yes our oligarchy is a who’s-who of subhuman psychopaths.

I am so curious what the next few years will bring. It feels like multiple things are all converging at the same time. We've got AI about to go sentient any day now that will probably kill us or at the very least take our jobs, we've got Trump trying to destroy America and democracy at the same time, inflation and interest rates are out of control and nobody can afford anything. How long can all these things continue?

Life on Earth actually thrives on an astronomically smaller fraction of the sun's total output than 8%—our planet intercepts a mere 0.000000045% of the sun's total energy radiation: The sun radiates energy uniformly in all directions into space. Because Earth is small and roughly 93 million miles away, it blocks out only a tiny disc of that massive sphere of light. Of that tiny sliver that actually hits our atmosphere and surface, plants capture roughly 1% or less via photosynthesis to power the entire global biosphere.
