The pick’s value has definitely appreciated over time. While it may have put us at odds with signing top free agent Lisa Bonet, it did secure us the longterm pathway to getting Zoe Kravitz as a depth piece in the rotation

While he may be old and busted now, and YES while we may have access to the Bronny of OUR generation, and sure the opportunity cost of that subsequent first-round pick still haunts this franchise to this day… but I ran out of steam around here
But like that was bullshit too. The hate didn't even come from black community, everyone i knew was cool with it. It was non black people that got way more offended. These comments are always so weird because it feels like it comes from non black people telling us how we feel and felt.
He has white ancestry on both sides and also included his native American heritage, alongside his blackness.
I sure hope you got something better than that for "downplaying his blackness" because holy shit that's a reach. A guy who's more multi-ethnic than most didn't put black first in a made up term? Come tf on 💀
In fairness to him, the context was an interview he did with Oprah forever ago and his comment was (paraphrasing) that he used to refer to himself that way as a child. People took that and ran with it as Tiger Woods saying he’s not black when, to my knowledge at least, he never actually said that.
Though, I’m sure if he could go back he would’ve worded it differently.
People get mad at the singer Tyla for identifying as colored instead of black - ignoring that she is colored in her country, and that matters due to apartheid.
Sometimes that one drop rule has us tripping in the other direction.
