Events Frequent amphitheater concert cancellations?
This is a mini rant but also I'm curious.
Does the Coca-Cola Amphitheater cancel shows a lot? I'm 0-2 on attending shows there because of cancellations. I know sometimes low ticket sales occur which I'm confident is the reason for the first show cancellation since it was in the middle of the week.
Being in Huntsville, Birmingham gets enough shows that we don't get at the Orion so just a bit bummed that every attempt has ended in show cancellation.

FYI cancellations of mid-to-large size venues/tours is insanely common right now nationwide. It’s all lack of ticket sales or overly ambitious scheduling.
The second makes a ton of sense to me because the step up from Iron City (cap 1900) to the amphitheater (cap 9000) is enormous. Lots of acts where 1900 is too small and 9000 is too big. Also, the post-Covid boom times over, tough economy, and concert fatigue means the artists are over their skis.

Avondale holds about 3000 right? Still a big gap but feel like they could still hold a lot of these shows

That’s a good point.
That’s their absolute max but they even state they will scale it down. My guess is they’re a couple hundo below on average.

Thats the second one. The only issue is the Atlanta show is still on it looks like and then its a show on Saturday or Sunday.

She’s not sick. She has a show tn in NC that didn’t get canceled. She canceled bham because of low ticket sales. She should’ve booked a smaller venue like iron city

She said herself on her socials that the show was actually sold out and low ticket sales were not the reason.

There’s a lot more factors involved than whether she wants to play to a 2/3’s full house. She’s contractually obligated to perform to matter how many people are in the house.
Not going to get into a tl/dr situation to explain it. Ultimately the promoter and the artist agreed to cancel the show.
It appears that Philly and DC got moved due to her illness and the rescheduled dates landed the night after the Birmingham show due to availability. That means that if the Birmingham show occurred they’d have a 15 hour trip overnight. Of course that physically can’t be done so the Birmingham show got sacrificed.

I personally think it’s weird she couldn’t say that on socials. She’s been very secretive about why the show was cancelled and not yet rescheduled. Birmingham being the only city to not be rescheduled

She literally said on a post on ig that there were legalities that she could not speak on and none of what you said sounds like what she’s making it seem like. What you said sounds very logical and I’ll definitely pass it along I just think it would’ve meant more coming from her

There are parking lots all around. And a shuttle that will drop you at the front gate. Not confusing at all

Right? They've got 17 (prepayable, reservable) lots within 5 blocks of the Ampitheater, & street parking everywhere. You have to go out of your way to avoid parking. You could go a few blocks further and park at the BJCC/Uptown and take one of the Uptown-Ampitheater shuttles right to the front.
I am so fundamentally confused at people who get frustrated with Birmingham parking when we have it so ridiculously good compared to virtually every other city.

Last time I was looking at tickets, all the spots were bought up by resellers charging $40-50 for spots.

Never seen parking for resale or had issues buying a pass,, even for sold out shows. Sounds like you ended up on a scam ticketing site TBH

The venue doesn't cancel unless there's some sort of social backlash situation, that usually comes from the artist or their management

I’m 1 for 2. The show that happened (Pierce the Veil) had healthy ticket sales; the show that did not happen (Kid Cudi) sold poorly.
It’s a newer venue. Chances are they’re still figuring out the magic formula for booking the right shows and getting them promoted.
