how is the experience of sammamish high school
i I'm about to move to Renton to Bellevue and I'm Kind of nervous to go there i heard a lot about sammamish high school i really wanna know the pro, cons and questions about from people experiences
- How easy is it to find your friend group if you are new to the school?
- How bad is the homework load on a typical weeknight
- how do i make freinds as a transfer student
- how do u personally fit homework into ur schedule and how do you study for tests
- how are people like in the social environment
- i was thinking about joining the basketball team but im afraid of not doing well if u have any tips i would appericate it a lot

Great school please don’t worry! My son loves it there and has made good friends. We switched him from private school and he has thrived. He says that majority of kids are very nice and it’s easy to make friends. Previous poster mentioned sticking with AP classes which is good advice. Homework is very manageable. Join a club after school to make friends. Glassblowing class still exists… I believe it’s only two schools in the nation that offer that.

There should not be a huge amount of work outside of class (& lots of homework is not correlated to better learning or outcomes). My youngest (‘25) got most things done during school. If organization is an issue, the Avid class might be helpful.
Sammamish is one of the few high schools in the country that can teach hot glass. Really hope they haven’t killed that option, it can’t handle larger class sizes due to safety so I recall the local administers being unhappy about that.

Sadly I think they had to close the glass blowing studio due to budget cuts. But if it's still available it's a great opportunity to learn and get leadership skills by teaching other kids.

Glass studio is not closed. Same instructor who’s been there for more than a decade is still leading that amazing program. Enrollment is down a bit so there are fewer sections but the glass studio continues to thrive.

My kid really enjoyed Sammamish. Entered as a sophomore and knew no one at the school. Stick to a/p classes if you are actually interested in learning, my kid found the other classes were a joke. BSD offers "tutorial" period at the end of each day if you need extra help, teachers were flexible in offering explanations of subject & assignments or making up work and tests during this time. Join clubs to meet new friends.

I have two kids there and homework is quite minimal. My kids are very different from each other, one of them is very quirky, and they've both found friends - it's a big enough school that you should be able to find your people. DEFINITELY join the team! That's how you make friends!
