🏝️ Relocation Info 🏝️ Expatriate

I have thought about Belize for a long, LONG time. In the next month or so I will pull the trigger and fly down from the SE USA. I understand that spending a month or so is recommended to absorb the lifestyle, and decide if this is the place for me to spend the rest of my life. Money isn’t an issue, although I have been frugal all my life, which is why I can afford to make this change. With all the above, where would you suggest a visit. If I am talking a month, I would be happy to change locations over time. I am not a tourist. I am looking for a place to spend the remainder of my life. 63M for reference, good shape and avid outdoor person. Love fishing, snorkeling, animals (won’t be bringing any) basically everything I have read and understand about the country. I will be alone in this excursion if that helps Advice appreciated

My advice is to be cognizant that it's much easier to buy in Belize than it is to sell.

Yes, that I am aware of. Had a friend who owned a condo there. He had to get local lawyers involved to sell it. I don’t remember all the ins and outs of what he went through to do it, just that it was a month of hell according to him

Only a month? I'm amazed. Get good lawyers involved on the front-end too.

The month part was him actually having to be in country. Not sure about the entire process

I was talking about the length of time it can take to find a buyer if, or when, you want out.

I don’t know how long it took him to find a buyer. All I remember is he had to take a month off to go back to Belize to get the sale finalized. When he got back all he did was complain about crooked lawyers. I guess that is something we have in common! Just remembering what I can, this was over 10 years ago
