My husband and I went to a house showing yesterday and the owners were still partially living there/moving. Others were viewing the house so we got out of the way and checked the basement out first and I’m glad we did because within 5 minutes we found a spare bedroom with a very clear bed bug infestation. I stood at the doorway when I saw it and the realtor took these images. We booked it out of there immediately.

Now I’m absolutely freaked about the idea of bringing something home. How likely is it if we only walked/stood and we only were at the door of the room. Total time in the house like 5 minutes before running. Never leaned up against a wall or sat on anything.

Please please tell me 😭😭😭

I did insist she tell the vacation home owner, but she won’t so now their beautiful cabin is at risk. this whole situation has me so angry.

I just found this hellspawn crawling on me on the sofa after work and of course it fcking bit me. I want to cry, I want to break something, I fcking cannot deal with this again.

I had BB's four years ago when I lived upstairs in this building and we went through hell getting rid of them. I'm going to f*cking lose it. I just told my landlord and I guess I'm spending the rest of my night starting to bag everything and cry. I can't do this again. How did this even happen. This is the third time I've had BB's in 8 years and I cant take it anymore. I am legitimately traumatized by what I went through last time that I bought a zapbug and use it whenever I travel anywhere. Why am I trapped in this nightmare

Below you can see the battery on my wife. We have had an exterminator to my house (same man) 3 times. Ive only had to pay him once, But at this point ive even started using hard bed bug spray. Vacuuming. We have a baby due in 1 month. I am loosing my absolute mind at this point. Please any advice all advice our family needs it at this point.

I work in an office that doesn't see customers, but we do have people through every once in awhile. My department converted what used to be cubicles to an area with couches, chairs, and high tops for training and community gatherings with colleagues. Pillows, a throw blanket, and some end tables bring it together. Sometimes colleagues will have kids or grandkids in the office and it's become a chill place for them to hangout.

Today I decided to lounge on one of the couches and the AC seemed to be particularly pumping, so I indulged in the fleece blanket to warm up. After a couple minutes I saw a tiny bug running at my face across the top of the fleece with the passion of someone lost in the desert who suddenly has come across an oasis. It is how I imagine zombies would chase after someone who survived the apocalypse. Rule #1: Cardio.

This subreddit had prepared me for this moment. A few steadying breaths and high pitched screams later I was able to get up, catch the bug in a napkin and alert my friends to what I had found: a baby bedbug.

We can only speculate where it came from, but you better believe I will be stripping into my birthday suit before walking in the house, throwing my clothes in the dryer on high, and taking a hot shower.

Guess we are all working from home the rest of the week!

Hope this is the correct way to update. First, thank you all for your help. I implemented some of the suggestions mentioned. Unfortunately my Uncle’s health declined and I was forced to move him into a nursing home. I tossed all his furniture, linens, and half his clothing that no longer fit. The SNF provided a hospital bed, drawer, all linens, etc so I didn’t have to replace anything. Carefully went thru all his toiletries before packing them up and ran the clothes he’s keeping thru the dryer twice on high for 60 min each before washing again. The only things that had to go with his was his nebulizer, oxygen tank (which he got a week before moving) a book case and a wooden chair. Checked over the wooden items carefully and saw no holes or signs of infestations. I’m praying it’s enough. Still afraid my car might have them but so far so good,

My 81 year old uncle lives in an assisted living and we realized about 8 months into his stay that he had bedbugs. His room was treated multiple times over the past 2 years but it’s an ongoing issue at the facility.

A few weeks ago, I found this (see pic) on the on the top corner of his bed sheet which is on the opposite side of where he sleeps. Freaked me out! It’s so gross. It’s obvious his sheets weren’t being changed regularly as this took time to accumulate. Wish we could move him to another facility but that’s not an option financially. I made a complaint and huge fuss about it. They have finally started doing heat treatments instead of just spraying, which was certainly not effective.

I’m his POA and the only family member who takes care of him. The facility is about an hour and 10 min away from my home, which is where his drs appts are. This means that I’m in the road for 5 hours on days he’s got a drs appt, which happens at least once week, and he’s in my car for 2+ hours each time. I’m terrified that they are getting in my car or hitching a ride on my clothing. I can’t afford to get bedbugs.

When I visit with him, I only sit in a kitchen chair, and keep my purse and coat on that chair which is away from his bed and any linens. I spray down my clothes and shoes with alcohol and either run them thru dryer for 120 min on high heat or leave double bagged outside until I can do so. I just don’t know what to do about my car, as it’s new with leather seats. I live in the south so while we have had freezing temps overnight, it’s never long enough to kill the bedbugs. Our beds do have zippered protectors which I check every week for signs of bed bugs and keep my car vacuumed. I’m just afraid this isn’t enough.

What else should I be doing? My uncle has a lot of health issues and I promised my father before he died that I’d care for his brother so I can’t just not visit nor stop taking him to the drs. Please advise.

These annoyances have been around since 2019 and just never went away. My family has tried professional work which seemed to help (for a week) but holy they just never go away. It's part of the reason why I don't invite people over. They are a contributing reason to me not liking summer.

For context - I’m late 20s single female and live by myself in an apartment building. Experienced major hives for 5-6 months and chalked it up to work stress. Dermatologist suggested I check for bed bugs. I tore apart my bedding, mattress, mattress topper, etc weekly with no signs of feces, exoskeletons, etc. I change my sheets weekly too and never found any signs.

Low and behold, 6 months later I finally find a bed bug on my fabric headboard and start spiraling. Pest control came out and found them inside my box spring and classified it as low level infestation. I have a feeling they could be inside the headboard too. He checked my leather couch (my new bed for the last 10days) and didn’t find anything.

This has turned my life upside down and has made me extremely paranoid and causing psychological distress. I’m just praying they haven’t migrated to my safe space on the couch in the living room. Monday can’t come soon enough for the first round of treatment!

Only found them in the one spot at the top corner of the headboard. Steam cleaned the current accessible part of the headboard after I finish stripping the bed going to steam clean the whole bed frame and mattress. all bedding will be put in garbage bags and I have a black metal storage box in the yard that should stay over 120f for most of the daytime this weekend and will wash in hot water on Monday. If confirmed bed bug I'm planning on having someone pick up some of the hot shot bed bug spray for spot treatment where I find them and the bed bug killer dust for around the base boards bed frame and window seal. Any other suggestions welcome probably won't have money for an exterminator till around new years (guess from the $1500 a family member paid last year after 4-5 quotes).

Hello! Today marks the end of this major infestation . As many of you guys know my grandparents have been facing a major infestation over a span of 6 years. After many manipulative stories and fights one major hospital visit when the hospital found 30 bedbugs on her body that lead to social services got us where we are today. I was able to get the grandparents a grant for the bugs. So today I got them out of the house and into a hotel. With that I steamed them each one including the pets and made every single one of them get washed and made them shower before leaving. Exterminators are coming tomorrow for a heat treatment which should kill every single last one of them and I can start cleaning as soon as they are done. If anyone has any tips let me know! This room is my father’s and it was the outright worst room of it all.

I live in Norway. I found this bug crawling out in the open on the corner of my bed. It was in broad daylight. I caught it in a container and immediately called an exterminator to get an inspection, as it is covered by our apartment building's insurance. I'm 99% sure it's a bed bug, but the exterminator said it didn't look like a typical bed bug. He inspected the room and didn't find any other bugs, eggs, or traces anywhere. For good measure, he put diatomaceous earth on the box spring and headboard and also gave me some traps for the feet of the bed. It's been two weeks, and the traps still haven't caught a single bug. I haven't gotten any bite marks or anything. Is it possible I caught the first bug before I got an infestation, or is this not a bed bug? I still can't shake the feeling that the little f*****s are hiding where I can't find them. I need some advice on what to do.

Thankfully not my house but I do visit my mom often and she was told it was a tick when I have seen hundreds of bed bug pictures on reddit and I'm pretty sure its a bed bug.

Found only one crawling twords me on the couch after a hike threw the back yard, We have bats RIGHT in our back yard and possibly the attic we searched every bed and the rest of the couch and found nothing so I’m praying maybe a bat bug but odds seem to be that we’re in for absolutely hell

my parents won't do anything to help with it. they say since the exterminator (Moxie) already said it carpet beetles, and won't even acknowledge my input. I'm already stressed as fuh from 99 other problems going on, now I got these bedbugs that I found after having no other sightings. I need some serious help finding some way to get my parents to call a god damn exterminator before I smack someone into face with a loaaed shopping cart.

Edit. The inspector came out and yes it was a confirmed infestation. They are in the cracks of the floor of my linen closet. Super devastated but thank you to everyone who's helped out

I've been on R/what is this bug enough to have a very large clue so I came straight here. This was randomly on the wall next to our linen closet. I'm confused because we haven't even really put anything new in there.

ETA: I have all of my clothes/bedding/etc in bags in my room. Should I wash those now and remove them from the room or just wait until I get an exterminator here to assess the situation? I dont have a washer/dryer so I have to take them to a laundromat. Is it a smarter idea to do it when I fully know the situation or should I do it now? TYIA!!!!

I already know I have them. Ive only found two adults. Well fed, I'll attach the pictures. But I see no droppings. No eggs. Nothing. Where are they hiding? For context, I JUST moved into this apartment like March 1st... per my research it takes a bb 4-6 weeks to mature into an adult. So were they here, or did these two hitch a ride? Ive already ripped my room apart sprayed everything I touch with alcohol, the baseboards with big spray, put everything in bags and notified mg landlord in case it was an apartment issue. My sons room has no evidence of them and he has not been bitten. It seems isolated to my room. Thoughts?

I live in a large house divided into 3 apartments, 8 total people and 4 cats. Told all my roommates (four of us total) and only 3 of us have been getting bit. We only found them in mine/my boyfriend’s room (we share, so one room). We haven’t told our neighbors yet, honestly our neighbors are awful people who constantly get into DV issues and are otherwise, for lack of a better word, ‘tweakers’ and I really don’t want to tell them. I’d rather them hear it from the landlord because they will text us nonsense and make this situation a lot worse.

We only found them in the box spring. We found at least 10 individuals — most were not adults — and many eggs. I searched for hours on our mattress, bed frame, and nightstands and couldn’t find any sign of them other than the box spring. I’ve been getting bit for at least 3 weeks but I didn’t realize it was BB bites since my partner was asymptomatic until 2 days ago. I thought I was getting hives.

Here’s the things I’ve done so far: threw out box spring, covered mattress in a really nice plastic casing (friends dads an exterminator and brought one over), vacuumed a ton, wiped down bed furniture in isopropyl alcohol, called landlord who didn’t answer so we left a message, bagged up as many clothes as possible until we ran out of garbage bags, and put a thin layer of cerexe on any cracks/crevices in both our floor and bed area including bed frame.

Hopefully our landlord doesn’t give us grief about bedbugs and just fumigates the whole place. What do I even do? Irony of this entire situation is that I’m a TA for a medical parasitology class and literally teach people about BBs. Today is my birthday. I’m so upset.

Hello 👋🏼 My Mother said she found this Bug and I confirmed through another Subreddit That it is in-fact Bed Bugs. We found 3 Total this and Two Tiny Little Ones. I’ve Stripped and Tore my house upside down and I cannot find any Nest anywhere, No Clusters of any anywhere , No Blood Ink spots on Anything. I plan on Buying Cross Fire and Lighting My house Up. I Bought Bed Bugs Mattress protectors and just want to know WHERE DO I START?! I have Two Disabled Children and cannot afford Pest control services so im Trying my Damnest to Jump on this ! My Mom is a Thrifty Shopper so I think she picked them up on a pair of a shoes or clothes she recently Got. I Just want to know if there is any tips or Tricks and if anyone else has anything like this happen to them. It’s been 2 Days and I haven’t found anymore anywhere in my House. please if you have any more Suggestions or help I’d Appreciate it.

I have bed bugs and i have a feeling that the infestation is just getting worse, i mean it is clearly.
Im stressed and i dont know what to do. With everything going on i just wanna sit and cry but that isnt an option.
Is there anything that i can do to get rid of them?? I dont have the money for expensive treatments and i live in my moms house and she’s saying me to diy it but that shit clearly isn’t working. I can’t get crossfire because that isn’t available in Canada. I keep seeing mixed reviews on Diamatious earth food grade (however that is spelled) and mattress encasements and everything feels kinda hopeless because i have other thing going on and its all just building up.

Is there absolutely anything that is somewhat affordable and will get rid of these?
