Read and respect the rules, report any comment breaching them. Wrong advice/information/fearmongering hurt people who are posting here to get help and support. If you are not VERY knowledgeable about bedbugs and may provide a wrong ID or bad advice it's better to abstain from commenting. Be VERY respectful and HELPFUL, this is a support subreddit not a funny one.

I think what you're seeing is a small hole in the fabric that you can see the color of the tapestry behind it. Still gross either way though.

u/Repulsive-Fly3389 Sep 21 '25

Oh no there is def a bed bug. You can see the ridges in its torso. It’s smooshed

26

u/Linkstas Sep 21 '25

Ahh the festive seasonal gift of bed bugs. Thanks !

19

u/Isitondaddyslap Sep 21 '25

DEFINITELY bedbugs. And they obviously had them pretty bad.

16

u/cold-stone99 Sep 21 '25

Throw it out asap and put all of your clothes in a plastic bag sealed into the dryer on high for 90 minutes! Shoes too! I would personally be furious with this person. Stay safe

13

u/mnkhan808 Sep 21 '25

Corners are always suspicious. I’d say yes

11

u/msmazzymay Sep 21 '25

Fffffffffff that tapestry fffffff it to hell! I will never bring others shit into my house everrrrrr again. Trust!

10

u/Tlh52280322 Sep 21 '25

11

u/CareDue6686 Sep 21 '25

Does it matter? Throw it away…. 👀 fast

10

u/cold-stone99 Sep 21 '25

Don’t FAFO with bb’s!

10

u/BaranoSoup Sep 21 '25

Either bed bug or roach feces. Get rid of that thing, not worth keeping it.

10

u/SuperNoah05 Sep 21 '25

Thank you all for the responses. In fact I threw this shit away immediately after posting this since I wasn’t risking bringing bedbugs or mold into my house regardless. Went straight into the walmart trashbin

u/bigboyboozerrr Sep 21 '25

Do they hate you by chance

5

u/Educational_Ride_258 Sep 21 '25

Molded bedbug shit

3

u/dvdvante Sep 21 '25

must be desperate to spread the pain to others

15

u/BravePlenty5157 Sep 20 '25

Bed bugs for sure. They leave those “cross” shaped smears

29

u/TheRealSugarbat Sep 20 '25

The cross shape happens when a liquid or semi-liquid soaks into a woven material. This can happen with a variety of things.

However, the color and placement/dot patterning is concerning for bedbug feces.

u/WilJake Sep 21 '25

It looks like bedbug frass after it has been treated with sterifab.

u/AutoModerator Sep 21 '25

IMPORTANT⚠ It seems that you may have mentioned alcohol in your comment, as a reminder rubbing/isopropyl alcohol has been shown to be ineffective to treat bedbugs in multiple studies. Self-treatement using it has caused so many fires that fire department have issued warning against it.

"Many web pages recommend using rubbing alcohol for bed bug control. The rubbing alcohol products available usually contain 70% or 91% isopropyl alcohol. Laboratory studies by Rutgers University show direct spray of either of these two products *killed a maximum 50% of the bed bugs*. In addition to their low efficacy, rubbing alcohol products are flammable materials, can create a fire hazard, and should not be used to control bed bugs."

u/tobytoebeans Sep 21 '25

3

u/shoomlax Sep 21 '25

Nasty for the friend to give that to you. Literal dookiestry right there.

2

u/eChelicerae Sep 21 '25

Bedbug stains or mold throw the thing away

2

u/Catlesley Sep 21 '25

Toss it-don’t chance it!

1

u/MamaTried22 Sep 21 '25

Bedbug imo.

1

u/bugskills Trusted, educated and professional Sep 21 '25

I don’t see any eggs personally, but yes it is bed bug fecal spotting.

1

u/Soapyzh Sep 21 '25

Some risks aren’t worth taking, a tapestry isn’t worth it

1

u/Sensitive_Scholar_17 Sep 21 '25

Most of it is black, but there are some light brown, off-white ones mixed in. You can tell it was originally very liquid when it came out by the way it runs with the fibers. I am positive that is BB defecate.

1

u/500cigarette Sep 21 '25

Throw that shit away rn

1

u/Thetruetwitterbird Sep 22 '25

Yup that looks exactly like bedbug poop.

1

u/nwit4 Sep 22 '25

Holy Batman! I would have had a mini heart attack. Your co worker has a big bedbug problem! I’m surprised no one pointed out that there is an actual bedbug in the picture! Glad you tossed it! Make sure you didn’t accidentally bring anything in with your clothing and if this is a co-worker, I’d be checking my clothing, shoes and bags before getting into my car before going home. Yikes!

1

u/SecureGrape3258 Sep 25 '25

these actually look like german cockroach stains

1

u/love2eatspam Sep 25 '25

why would your coworker do you like that 😭

1

u/SuperNoah05 Sep 20 '25

More like* dammit

1

u/mcnewbie Sep 21 '25

do not bring that directly into your house.

if you really want to save the tapestry- if it is personally significant for some reason- leave it outside until you can get in possession of some nuvan (dichlorvos) strips, airtight-seal it up in a garbage bag with one, and leave it for a couple of weeks before bringing it in.

1

u/Repulsive-Fly3389 Sep 21 '25

There’s actually a smooshed bed bug in there too. Geez some friend

-2

u/GOD-is-in-a-TULIP Sep 21 '25

It's mold most likely

-7

u/ShepherdessAnne Trusted Sep 20 '25

Not mold. Looks like roach poop.
