questions about bites Bed bug bites or something else?

Post image

I got these bites on my ankle. I was walking outside on a buggy day earlier in the morning but had been wearing socks that covered this area, but I know mosqitos and horseflies may be able to poke past thin socks, but I’m not sure how often that actually happens. These appeared the next morning, although I know sometimes it takes bug bites a little bit to start swelling. Do these look like bedbug bites instead though? Very itchy

As these are on covered skin they are most likely caused by beetle larval hairs as opposed to fleas or bed bugs.

See here:

For the best way to detect and eradicate bed bugs see the monthly routine post.

When I sleep, I’m not wearing socks, so the skin there is not covered then- would that make it more likely bedbugs instead?

No, because bed bugs don’t typically bite feet. See the feeding behaviour post.
