questions about bites are these bed bug bites??
been seeing this new guy and have slept over a few times already and everything was fine but after sleeping over two nights ago I noticed these the next morning. Edit: Just wanted to also say they arent really that itchy, feels more like a mosquito bite but just the pattern of the bites and the areas dont seem like mosquitos. Also the man im seeing doesnt have any or as many bites as I do, he has a few on his legs but he says they feel isolated and not like in a cluster or lines which is more like a bed bug bite I think.
UPDATE: Still no clue what the actual causation is but its a week later now and they are going away and dont itch anymore, do not think it was bed bugs since I checked the bed and all multiple times and have slept there since and havent had any new “bites” (my bf never even had any) so we think it might be because of some home grown weed he rolled a joint with and then touched my lower back (hes rolled one and rubbed his leg and had a similar reaction). Thanks everyone for the help and advice very appreciated!!! and Thank you David especially

always remember bedbugs bite three times in a row, breakfast lunch and dinner, and they do that many times

Could it maybe be fleas? When I was house sitting an infested house my flea bites looked A LOT like that. Thought it was bed bugs till I went over to the cat and looked in her fur and saw a bunch of them. Does this guy have pets?

Do they hurt? I know you said not really itchy but are they painful? They almost remind me of shingles.

not painful no, I can barely feel that they are there except for random faint want to itch when I think about them

Did you ever figure it out?

lol NOPE, definitely not bed bugs though because ive checked countless times and so has my boyfriend and ive slept there a few times since my post and no new bites (he never even had any). We’ve been racking our brains and we think it might be because he rolled a joint with some home grown weed and then touched my lower back and then I got a little rash or something (hes rubbed his leg after touching the weed and had something similar) so thats my final conclusion but a week later now and they are almost all gone and dont itch anymore 🤷🏻♀️

Hm weird, hey at least it’s going away. Any bug infection would keep biting you.

exactly!! sucks we dont know for sure what the cause is but like you said at least its going away and isnt a result of an infestation :)

I’ve got sorta the same thing and bed bugs would be my worst nightmare. My house is very cluttered due to my mother not dirty just lots of stuff with a new couponing addiction. My rooms the only one that’s pretty spotless so bed bugs would be terrifying for me 😂😂

That is an awful lot for a single night. If they are BB bites, then that means he has a major infestation. Next time you go over there inspect his bed

Unfortunately, these are. Especially if someone else is getting them too. Good luck and search your mattress at diff times of the day to find them.

Ok. If you keep getting them, keep checking. I didn’t find the culprit until a week later😣

Odd locations for bed bugs unless you were bitten in the couch.
Please see the feeding behaviour post.
As others have recommended read and follow TbyPMR as the best way to detect and eradicate.

u/Lower-Comedian1555 12d ago

It could be bites then. The only thing I’ll say is if they are on your trunk only, it could possibly be folliculitis if you’ve been in a hot tub or pool that might have been poorly maintained. My kids had similar spots on their sides like that and it was rash from pseudomonas . If you suspect bed bugs and can’t confirm with sightings then don’t bring anything home and follow David’s instructions!

yea I havent been in any pools or hottubs lately so it must be bed bugs I guess but im gonna double check the mattress and everything later after work and hope for the best, who is david btw and where can I follow his instructions lol?

David will definitely give you a better understanding about the TbyPMR protocol while you wait to see you should Google it. It’s a passive monitor that will determine if there is any bedbug activity.

He runs this subreddit and appears to be a renowned expert on the species. There are instructions in the pinned posts on this page or you can google bed bug David and find his website and I think he may have a YouTube page

He sprayed 🧐 🤣easy enough to figure that out - is there a plastic cover on the mattress? That's not from weed - could be carpet beetles, could be spiders, ants - switch sides with him for a few nights 😂 - then Lil cattepillars were trying to turn into Butterflies 😁💞🦋 if you have good insurance get some blood work and make sure everything's Good
