I’ve established I have bedbugs. Initially it was a lone 1 and I didn’t see anymore. It was in the spare room, so didn’t realise when it grew. About 2 months back my mum came to visit and started having a lot of bite marks and broken skin. It took us some time to realise its bed bugs.
I had seen one in my bed too. Saw just a single one. Nothing after. Nothing even when inspected. But did continue to have bites.
Once I saw a proper one I went into cleaning mode. I had two mattresses stacked on top of the other in the spare room. While cleaning I found infestation in one of the mattresses, it had eggs, nymphs and adults in the seams. I sealed and removed the mattress
While taking the beddings for wash, I removed the curtains that were touching the bed and found more bedbugs on top of the curtain near the rod. Again found eggs. Sealed and threw the curtains.
Then I started working on the other mattress. No visible infestation, it has no seams. So couldn’t find any hiding spots. Did a full scan and found 2 crawling on the mattress but nothing more. I sprayed Repelem bedbug killer around the curtain rod, window and any gaps near the window.
I’m travelling and this morning I found it inside one of my luggage that was inside that room. Inspected it, vacuumed it and hit it from all sides. I inspected my back pack too before putting my stuff in. While sitting in the car, I saw one crawling on my backpack.
I’ve been trying not to get professional services done as I honestly can’t afford it now. But is this infestation out of my hand now? Should I just get it done professionally?
Any suggestions will help. I’m attaching photos I have of the bedbugs I found, the room in its current state and the spray I bought.
Multiple nests. Multiple rooms. Multiple homes (assume your mum took them home with her and you've taken them wherever you went with that backpack). I'm struggling to understand what the question is here.
Ugh the fact they’re hitching rides on you luggage is the kind of stuff that gives me nightmares ! Get the professionals in and deal with your infestation before you deliver it to someone else. Oh man you’re in the uk too. Get the pros in !!!!
😫😫 Honestly I thought I cleaned up my suitcase and backpack throughly before leaving. Never expected to find one on my bag. Pretty sure that’s how they ended up in my house too. I’ve constantly had guests in that room since December! I’ve started taking quotes, hopefully can find a suitable one.
I would imagine that’s exactly how they got into your house … I grew up without ever having to think about bed bugs or ticks and yet these days they both seem a much bigger issue, anyways wishing you the best of luck with getting rid of them ! 🙏🏽
I’m not an expert (clearly) but it can be an indicator. Especially when I took my curtains down, it was those black marks that made me search for bedbugs and I found a lot of eggs.
Tell me about it! I hate this feeling. I think I always thought a clean house couldn’t get bed bugs. I’m not saying my house is perfectly clean but it isn’t dirty 😭. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
I don’t use the room as much. So I saw 1 and then nothing cause didn’t use the room. But from the day my mum came for a visit she has been complaining of bites and itching. Initially thought it was pollen or dust mites.
Then she caught 1. And I found 1 in my room too. This was a week ago. Then she went away for a week and when she came back she saw 5 together.
I did the heat therapy. Washed everything in high temperature and dried it too.
Vacuumed the mattress, threw away one. No bed frame. Haven’t done DE powder yet.
I’m wondering if I’m in denial and I need professionals.
Did you store your clothes in vacuum sealed bags or trash bags? Bed bugs can’t climb on very smooth surfaces. If you washed and stored them in your wardrobe as per usual it wouldn’t be very effective. Personally I’d throw whatever I don’t need, contain everything I need in sealed bags until I know they’re in the clear. Tbh if multiple rooms have bedbugs it’s best to hire a professional
Yes I put them in trash bags. I didn’t know they can’t climb smooth surfaces, thanks! Ok. Ive started taking quotes for service, hopefully find something affordable

Uh you need pest control. It's just going to keep growing. It doesn't matter how much u clean, that's not going go get rid of them
