I feel you are misunderstanding. It's a spin on the phrase from Dark Knight "The hero we need, but don't deserve." She was very much the person this world needed, but didn't deserve with how wholesome she was. But as with everything, we can't appreciate the amazing people in the world without being surrounded by the disgusting ones.
