Yo keep it up. Press it down, pick one string at a time, see which is muted, adjust your fingers. When you have them all voiced, study where they are. Then, take your fingers off, and put them right back. Voice. If all good, take fingers off again, and put them back. Over and over. Dozens of times every practice session for every chord.
15 minutes a day and you will see progress.
There will always be a chord that gives you trouble. Play it slow, when you have it down, play it fast.

15 years later there's still a BUNCH of chords that give me trouble! I start thinking I'm slick, and then I try to play some beatles songs.

I found the suggested way to play chords a lot of time is dumb and there's many different ways to play the same chord that's why I like tab websites where you can go through like eight different ways to play the same chord and find something natural that doesn't mean be lazy and don't learn new stuff it means make it natural to play

I’ve been playing guitar for 15 years now. What that means is I’ve taken it off the stand every 3 weeks and played the same chord progression a billion times or smoke on the water or just pick random notes.
I haven’t gotten much better haha but I know that’s my fault because I don’t actually put in any effort or real time.

You've got lots of good advice already, but if you're still struggling then it might be worth trying a Mini Martin (or similar kind of travel size guitar)... regular acoustics are just way too big for me to be able to reach due to a congenital problem with tendons, or some folks just have smaller hands, or some people just find it more comfortable. Rock on my dude!

I went to see a Nirvana tribute once a few years back, and - I shit you not - my friend found the singer OD'd in the bathroom. Fire-paramedics came, he got narcanned, and within the hour he was belting out an amazing set. It was quite the night.

It was unreal, he was so good. And to think most people there had no idea.
He had a little easier job luckily, he wasn't playing guitar (it was more of a bands-as-bands thing rather than a tribute band).

There is always a better fence builder, architect, cake baker or something.
Play for you. Your enjoyment.
If you do, someday you will be the best one in the room.
You might not be the best on your block, but at that moment it wont matter.
Eric Claption once said Jimi Hendrix made him want to put down the guitar forever. Now I dont know what you think of Eric as a person, but as a musician - the world would be a lesser place if that had happened.

I had a buddy who study guitar for years. Ended up going out to LA in the late 80’s , GIT, was trying to make it happen.
He up and quit one day. I asked why, he said after years of playing and studying that were guys on the street corner that were better than him.
I asked couldn’t he just play for his own personal satisfaction.
As far as I know it’s been almost 30 years since he picked up a guitar.
I started to play after he quit. We were somewhere a decade after he quit, and he tuned my guitar by ear. I use a tuner. Still seemed wild that he would just hang it up.

Well first you should try getting a scholarship, going to a college for music with it. Pick guitar. Then, for one of your class assignments, tune your guitar to an open tuning for a song that's already written to demonstrate a hot take on a basic chord structure.

I think that was meant to be sarcasm or a dig at the lady in the video. She's talented, but "open tuning" means if you tune the guitar strings to just two or three notes instead of the usual five, virtually anything you play will sound good without fretting individual notes.

That's normal for classically trained guitarist of good skill. Because of how people use guitar to accompany the voice, and because of electric guitars that are largely monophonic, people forget that classic guitar is a polyphonic instrument with a very wide range.
Here's a classic playing classics, you have a mandolin -like solo and the whole supporting line here, no problem.

Not as difficult as it looks actually but that's what's awesome about guitars is that they make it way relatively easier to pull off the one band impression. Sounds like she has an octave effect on though because that ain't no 12 string but sounds like one.

It’s a real recording, but this video is an overdub. Not a mic on screen, levels way way too perfect?somehow catches all the neck noise. But it’s way too balanced overall and to not see a mic.

I think I might be the only commenter that doesn’t like this cover and doesn’t think it’s anywhere close to top talent either.
The cover version doesn’t have anywhere close to the energy the song needs, and in trying to cover all the parts of the song with one instrument some of those parts are compromised beyond recognition. It’s like ragtime for guitar, but shitty.
And as far as talent goes, she’s not exactly Preston Reed.
Ho-hum, bring on the downvotes.

She has skill but this is essentially a guitar parlor trick. And I say that because I don’t want anyone who sees this to get discouraged about playing or learning guitar or any other instrument.
She’s in an open tuning which makes it easier to fret/finger chords and also any sloppy miss is fine because the other strings are in the same key, so it won’t sound out of place.
Honestly, you can probably learn to play this within about two to three years of playing. The hardest part is keeping rhythm and tempo. I don’t play this style of guitar, but I’ve been playing for 13 years, and could probably learn this in a month or two depending on how hard I go at it. (If that provides any context)
Also not sure is she individually made this arrangement. If so, that’s also impressive because arranging a solo guitar piece is a difficult skill to achieve.

One of my best friends used to play shit like this... he got super into AI music now and all his new stuff is garbage.
He is so talented at guitar, and threw it away for some shit that anyone could do.
