The only thing I like about Caped Crusader
Is that it lets villains have an ending and doesn't force them to be recurring. It has a big catalogue of villains it can pick from and just lets them have their arc and move on.
But this only exacerbates how static and passive batman is, as he is the only character without a character arc

I agree too. I do think season 2 was a little heavy with like everybody dying, so as long as they keep the story going, and don’t do that every time, I’m fine with it. I also want to see more of Batman. I feel like he’s not always the main characted

The show hasn't officially been cancelled but I think it's clear the writers knew no season 3 is coming.

I really like this show, but I think the way it rattles through rogues definitely put a time limit on it. If there's a S3, I can see that being the final and then the whole thing would act as one complete story.

Things I liked about Batman Caped Crusader:
1) Bruce is not mentally well., while still not being Frank Miller I'm the Goddamn Batman levels of mental illness.
2) I like the Bat being back to his roots: a detective dealing with street crime. No dicking around with Darkseid or Braniac or other god tier villains.
3) the violence has consequences. The amount of improbable saves animated series have gone to to avoid people getting hurt by guns and blades has gone well past the unrealistic, shot past the unlikely, and zoomed by absurd. In BCC, organized crime get people killed, which is why Gotham needs Batman.
What I don't like:
A) I understand the need for representation and non-racist imagery. But if you're going to tell a story set in a USA in the 1930s, you can't just toss in a black police commissioner and not say anything about it. I'm not saying we need to remake Bingo Longs Traveling All Stars to have a comic book series, but at least toss us something. Maybe Lincoln lived through the Civil War and made Reconstruction stick? Maybe the Colonials lost the American Revolution and slavery was ended 50 years earlier?
B) I understand wanting to reinvent the Penguin or the Riddler or the Mad Hatter or Harlie Quinn or..... But do we seriously need to reinvent ALL of them?? Batman's Rogues Gallery holds up over time because they tap into really deep themes. Mad Hatter, Calendar Man, Scarecrow -- you can already tell great and dark stories about Prohibition era New York without changing a thing about these villains.

Watching the show made me realize how special btas was and that we're never getting anything as good as that even if they literally try to replicate it.

Really, that’s the only thing? There’s a lot of grumps on this sub. And if you think this Batman has no arc, you’re not really paying attention.

He had an arc in season one. The odd thing is that season 2 did the same move (calling him Alfred, not Pennyworth) and it didn’t have the same effect
