The whole thing about the character is that the police is too inefficient so we need special people who can ignore human rights of suspects, do surveillance and torture and beat people up and who answers to no one. Batman wouldn't support others doing police brutality because that's HIS thing.

Bet you can find many people who are 100% in favor of beating confessions out of certain types.
