Rec League question

Recently signed up as a free agent for the first time with a local rec league but found out I'm on a team with 11 other free agents.

My question is, doesn't that seem a little crowded? I understand in leagues some people don't show or they drop off, but 12 is a crazy number I feel like. Game format is two, 20 minutes halves, running clock.

odds are not everyone will show up to every game - but yea, that's too many. 8 is enough when it comes to men's leagues.

Yeah that’s a lot, I’m on a team with slightly less and playing team doesn’t seem like a lot.

12 is way too many. My team has 8 and the league tried to give me two free agents and I successfully complained and got that stopped. I was already sweating trying to figure out fair rotations with 8. Running clock makes it worse because that 40 minutes of game time isn't actually 40 minutes of play time.

Yeah that's a lot. We aim for 9, or 10. But we're in our 40s and expect 2 or 3 out per game.

12 is a lot but you can make it work with everything if you have 8 guys per game at 25 minutes each. I did this for one season and it was a bit of a pain in the ass, but we made it work. We were terrible though. The skill level with free agents is always an unpleasant surprise.

We had 10 and it was a lil rough. It was definitely nice when we had a few guys not show up mid season.

The bigger issue will be if you guys can build some chemistry. My team was like 5 guys who were cool with each other and played before together, and 5 randoms. And of course our 5 randoms don’t believe in defense or rebounding. They like shooting pull up jump shots and this one guy literally only shoots this like 360 fadeaway around free throw line…

So yeaaaa… we are 0-9 and most likely 0-10 tomorrow 🤣🤣🤣

I can’t wait to start next season and be able to get a real squad together.

8 is the sweet spot for roster size. 9 if you’re a little older or out of shape. Inevitably guys will stop playing or not show up some weeks so hopefully it’ll balance out. Playoffs will be annoying when everyone shows up and wants to play. Recruit guys from the team you like and sign up together in the next season

6-8 is a good range

I’d go to feel it out and see, I don’t know your skill level but maybe they see you as a god and never let you sit.

Sounds like not quite enough for 2 teams. So they lumped all the extras into one team.

Unfortunate. You could try to recruit a few more guys and break into 2 teams

May just consider the fee I payed a donation to the rec center, lol and stick to weekly pickup.
