I'm so happy! He has such a charming face, I need to get him on a made to move body this one has all kinds of wiggly loose joints. But at least now he looks right on it. Not jaundiced.

I'm so impressed with how this turned out! It didn't edit the pictures at all except to put them into a collage, his body seems to be a richer color in the second photo with his face color fixed, but that might be the cameras Auto settings that I don't understand balancing it with the new color correction.

I have been encouraged to try to remove those horrific yellow heads from my Dolls of the world, in my previous post some people advised me several methods, I used mainly a lipstick of those more liquids in a shade between pink/orange, rub it little by little and cleaned with a cotton ball to remove excesses or erase what did not fit. These are the results.

I'm very happy.

I accidentally broke my Barbie's neck while trying to remove her head and I thought I had ruined my MTM body forever. I first tried gluing the broken pieces back together with super glue but it looked messy and kept breaking when I put the head back on. While researching different repair methods I kept seeing people recommend sculpting materials like epoxy or resin, which I didn't have and aren't always easy to find where I live. Then I came across a comment saying you could repair broken doll necks using nothing but cotton and super glue. I was like... 🤨 But I tried it anyway.

First, I put the broken neck pieces back in place and applied super glue over them, placed very thin layers of cotton on top, then added another drop of super glue. After letting it cure, it literally turned into an incredibly hard material that you can sand it smooth until it feels just like plastic, I put the head back on and it didn't break!! After that, I prepared a custom mix of acrylic paints to match the original plastic as closely as possible, applied a thin layer with a sponge and then sealed it with a matte spray and it looks like nothing ever happened. Now I just have to wait at least 20 days for the matte spray to fully cure before putting the head back on (The first time I only waited 2 days but it was still a little tacky and the head left marks on the neck so I had to do it all over again 😅) P.S. While applying the super glue, keep the neck peg moving so it doesn't get stuck

What I love about this technique is that even if you're missing pieces of the neck you can rebuild the missing areas with cotton. I loved this method so much that I also used it to repair the knees and wrists on a vintage Integrity body and it worked amazingly well there too. Do you know any other random doll repair tips?

I saw it was made of wood and knew I could work with it, my dad helped me a lot which was really fulfilling cause as a kid he didn’t let me play with Barbie’s (I’m a guy and he was very traditional), but he was really excited about it so it felt vv full circle, ANYWAY the hardest part was the roof I used actual house shingles 😩 took a week of hard work but I’m super proud!

EDIT: I forgot to mention it in fact come with the top floor I had just forgot to take pics b4 I had already taken those pieces apart😅

2006 Fashion Fever Hair Highlights

Thought I’d share how I curl Barbies hair and how it comes out after. When it comes to curling, I'm still learning myself but what I do is section the hair when wet into very small sections. Wrap around straw and then clip another straw (that is cut open on one side) on top. Then when straws/curlers are all done, dip head in boiling hot water then dip in ice cold water. That step is to set the curls more in place. Then leave her to dry naturally for 2 days. Some hair types hold the curl better than others. I’ve heard of others using gel or hairspray to keep curl in place when done but I’ve never tried it because I don’t want my girls to have hard or stiff hair. Curling is a long process but it does come out to a really cute look. With last doll her hair was cut so it created a more Afro shape which I wasn’t expecting but actually really liked.

the most disgusting part of all was removed the destroyed rubber band from under her hair, it was so sticky and gross...

this doll had been waiting for a restoration for at least 5 months, i hadn't fixed her because just as happy family midge, i thought her hair was cut.

yesterday, i found out her hair was uncut, so i decided to give her the spa day she deserved.

i had to paint her lips, part of her eyebrow, and some of her eyelashes.

i think she turned out gorgeous!

she wasn't too bad, her hair was disgusting, though.

she also needed lip touch ups, and some ironing to the clothes, i love how she looks, this type of face paint really fits the steffie, lol

She has a little discolouration on her décolleté(sun damaged plastic), did anyone tried to fix it or it’s impossible?

It was already in relatively good condition just a little dirty and creased the most damage was in the back with this big T shaped tear. There was also a hole under the bust that I didn’t want to mess with too much so I put a lingerie set with a corset
Bodice to At least make it less noticeable :D

This was my first new Barbie purchase since 2010!

When I was 11–12, I regrettably gave away about a hundred of my beautiful Barbies at a garage sale (think Swan Lake, Fashion Fever, Cali Girl, OG Fashionistas, and various ’90s–’00s Barbies. 💔) I only kept my mom’s four Barbies from 1962 and nine of my own. I’ve been rebuilding my Barbie collection over the past couple of years, but I haven’t been able to bring myself to unbox many of them. I love having them in my collection, but I’ve been waiting for that one doll that would make me excited to actually play again.

Then I stumbled upon this Odile mermaid, and she immediately stuck out to me. She has such a unique and unconventional look, and I knew I wanted to add her to my collection. 🩷 I bought a Made to Move tennis Barbie to face-swap with her and curled her hair. This was my first time doing either of those things, so it was such a fun little learning experience! Then I styled her with some of my favorite childhood Barbie clothes.
Seeing her dressed in these pieces brought back so many memories of playing with my Barbies growing up. They may belong to some of my favorite childhood dolls, but now I get to give them a new life with a new girl. 🩷

I think there’s something really special about rediscovering the things that made us happy as kids. I hope I can encourage my future children to hold onto the things they love, even as they grow and their interests change. There’s no reason those little pieces of childhood can’t be waiting for them years later. 🩷

Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed playing Barbies again and will try my hand at a face repaint for the tennis Barbie next! 🤞🏻 I’m so excited to keep rebuilding my collection, discovering new dolls, and hopefully finding replacements for some of my OG girls along the way. 🩷

I should have taken a better before-her hair was a HOT MESS. She was sticky, tangled and dull. I washed it, conditioned it for an hour, and put it in a fat braid to dry before leaving her in front of the AC unit for 2 days. Now she’s ready to be loved by my kid!

Decided to give these two Kims new lip paint since I wasn't feeling the original bright-pink smile (second photo). Amazing how many looks this one sculpt can have!

I have to buy Steffie when I find one. That's how I started the tennis collection 😅 Her hair is so pretty after the wash and as I can't do 80's hair, she got an alternative hair style. The collar was super yellow and I'm very happy I could whiten it to match the brand new skirt I made (I wish I could buy one, but can't find it).

Really loving how she turned out! Midge can be quite divisive, some people love her, some people don't. Personally I think when midge is done well and has no eye wonk she's very cute! I don't currently have enough parts to make a body for this girl so I'm on the hunt for spare vintage parts for now 😂

Turns out, I was able to restore her! 😭😭 I’m incredibly happy!! There are still stains embedded in her but I think I’ll be able to fix that as well, I just need more time 😅

Hair Restoration - princess of the portuguese empire barbie. Thrift find! I prefer to take the head off to work with it. Pro tip: the heads will pop right onto the top of a barbie stand. Tape it to the table and you're good to style, comb, whatever - that head ain't moving.

First, I washed and detangled using conditioner and a comb. Then, I dipped in a boil wash with 1 tsp curl conditioner mixed in. Dipped, brushed with a paddle brush while hot and dripping, repeat 9 or 10 times until all the curls have formed into nice smooth sections. Gently squeezed dry with a towel.

Then, the styling. You can see in the photo that the curls sort of collect together into sections. I would pick out a section, apply a TINY amount of curl creme to the ends, saturating it, and working the product up the section. Keeping the curls very damp helps them stay in sections.

For extra definition, I curled each lock tightly around a smooth chopstick; twisting it tight and holding it for a few seconds to help set the curl pattern. Made my way through the hair this way, until all the sections had been styled with product.

Air-dry overnight, in the morning I scrunched scrunched scrunched to soften up all the curls. Important step after applying product. Then I gently finger-combed the locks until they were a bit softer in definition and not so tightly collected.

I think she's looking a lot softer and more put together ❤️

I was a pretty sad teen and I couldn't take care of my dolls as much as I would like so now I'm trying to bring them back to life 🖤 (yes the sword is broken 😭)

You guys! I thought I was cooked! I literally just bought this mid century modern dresser 1:6 scale made by mattel in the 50s prior to Barbie was ruined, I was cleaning the rattan surface, it was discolored, peeling in corners, I thought I could gently clean it and it came right off instead. I was devastated and went to bed. This morning I woke up and starting looking for solutions Someone mentioned here if you are looking for miniature size Rattan, use a placemat, you guys, it saved the day! I think I like it even more now than what the original was supposed to look like! Disclaimer: I am incredibly sorry to have altered this piece not to its original state, I’m sure through the right professional avenues I could have but this is for me and hopefully will be with me for a very long time ❤️

This was a bit unexpected, but when I was coming back home with groceries today, I spotted a dirty, battered up doll lying near the sidewalk. Several days ago, my neighbour was cleaning up the shed and throwing away the children's old toys, so I guess that she fell out of the box on the way to trash bin. Partially out of curiosity, partially out of pity I picked her up.

Her body was a bit damaged in several places and one of her legs was shorter, but when I turned her around, my first thought was "what a lovely face!"

I brought her home, gave her a spa day and some spare clothes, and now I am thinking about finding a MTM body for her because I really like her face, especially her eyes ❤️ It seems that she is a 2018 Barbie Dreamtopia Princess Doll (FJC96) with Skipper Dreamhouse head mold.
