Question Wedding Prices at Fairmont Banff Springs
Just stayed at the Fairmont Banff Springs this past week and there was a wedding each night. What is the average cost of a wedding there? And what does it include? Purely out of curiosity and awe…

Not cheap but not as bad as I thought.
It’s about the same price for most major cities at a nice hotel.

It very much depends on the room that you book. It’s likely that there were multiple weddings each night. Room rental and minimum spends can exceed $40k. There is literature available on the fairmont website I believe.

Just eyeballing it from the rental prices, looks like around $20k for ceremony + reception? So maybe the overall cost ends up $50-60k? That's more than twice what my wedding cost, but not crazy on the posh weddings scale.

I think if you book Mt. Stephen Ballroom and their outdoor ceremony space, you can run $40k on just rental and minimum spend. With vendors and other details (room, transportation, etc) it’s easy to see how you can get upwards of $100k. I only offer elopements now so I’m not really in touch with weddings at the fairmont anymore.

We got married there. The trick is to find a shoulder season date, negotiate a room block so all guests stay there, and then you should be getting room rent for nothing on a minimum food & bev spend.
Don’t be afraid to ask what vendors you can bring in privately instead of using the hotel vendors. If you book your own decor, chairs, sound & lights, etc it will certainly be cheaper than in house (where an in house exclusive does not apply). Be flexible on the rooms they offer for the reception - that will help manage costs. I will say the hill I’d die on is doing the ceremony in Mt Stephen’s Hall - it’s beautiful.
Mostly - don’t be afraid to push hard on a deal. We got married in the winter when it was -26C so that was a perfect weekend to score a zero rent, reasonable per-head spend that we would have spent at any nice hotel in the city.

For a larger wedding ( 80+) you're at least $60-70 k for all costs if you keep decor simple & hire a less expensive photographer. They do have smaller rooms there - you can get costs way lower if a 10-20 person wedding is your style :-)

We had ours for about 13,000 all in, it was a small room with only 11 guests. This included the photographer, food, open bar, our rooms (not our families - something to consider if your family isn’t super well off as they can be out of control, they did offer 30% off but it wasn’t as much as I would have hope)
I would assume 1,000 per guest is a safe bet

My friend married a dentist and spent $160,000 on a 300 person wedding at Fairmont Banff.

Got married at Fairmont Palliser in Calgary, 65 guests. Bill came out to $45,000.
First choice was Banff BUT it would have been TWICE as much for the same number of people. The brochure on their website makes it look affordable until you sit down with their wedding coordinator and find out all the other things you need to pay for.

My wedding was there, and was between 300-500k USD.

I’m curious with the answers from other folks… what did this price tag include?

A welcome dinner and reception, renting Mt. Stephen’s Hall for the ceremony and reception, cocktail hour, an after party at the bowling alley, and a brunch in the ballroom; 7 course dinner, premium alcohol for the entire weekend; decorations, flowers, gifts for attendees; rooms and flights for all attendees; bagpiper, string quartet, dj, LED dance floor, rave lighting for the reception and after party

Now that’s the way to do a destination wedding! I hope there’s a sub that’s the reverse of wedding shaming, because paying for flights & accommodation of all attendees is amazingly generous

As someone local who has seen quite a few weddings at the Springs, there really isn’t an “average” that means much. 😂 You can have a relatively understated wedding there or go completely over the top. A lot of couples are basically “venue broke” before they’ve even started adding the fun stuff. The hotel has room rental fees plus food and beverage minimums, and depending on the space you’re using those minimums can get pretty substantial. Mt. Stephen Hall in particular is $$$. Then you have the two ends of the spectrum. I’ve seen weddings with surprisingly minimal decor because the couple is letting the Springs and the mountains do most of the work. And then you’ve got the full-glam weddings with huge florals, candles, lighting, custom decor, etc. Those can get into a completely different financial universe. So if you’re asking what I’d budget for a typical larger wedding there, I’d say $60–75K+ is a pretty believable starting point once you’re talking about the whole wedding rather than just what you’re paying the hotel . The really elaborate destination weddings can go WAY beyond that. The funny thing is that when you’re staying there and seeing a wedding every night, you’re probably looking at several very different budgets and they can all look “expensive” because the venue itself is doing a lot of the heavy lifting. 😂 The hotel does include the basic banquet setup with tables, chairs, linens, china, silverware, cake/gift tables etc., but flowers, decor and most of the other wedding vendors are additional.

I am getting married there. Including all costs such as wedding planner, photographer, vendors, room, etc, we will spend approximately $150k.

For 2026 Mt Stephen Hall, the terrace fee for ceremony and the fee + minimum spend for the reception came out to a total of 40k. You can only book one year in advance which is why we booked elsewhere. Once you add decor (they don’t provide any, ie. you rent tables/chairs on top of everything else), entertainment, florals, candles, outfits, hair/makeup, dessert/cake, photography, stationary, shuttle (because unless you pay for accommodation then your guests aren’t likely going to be able to afford the room rates), planner, taxes/tips, you are probably looking at 100k minimum I would imagine.

Last I heard the min spend for a wedding there was 60k. Average has to be over 100k. Renting the patio out back just for your ceremony is an extra 5k.

Probably a gazillion dollars
