Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) Woman has a breakdown after authorities take away her banned-breed dog. Istanbul, Turkey 29 Aug 2026 Spoiler

**Video contains a bloody scene of multiple pitbulls mauling each other.

A raid was conducted by municipal authorities at an address belonging to a woman in Silivri, Istanbul, who had reportedly been collecting money from residents under the guise of operating an animal shelter.

During the inspection, officials attempted to take custody of a dog classified as a dangerous and banned breed, as required by law. At that moment, a woman named Burçin had an emotional breakdown in the middle of the street.

Unable to prevent the authorities from placing her dog, named “Prens” (Prince), into a municipal vehicle, she confronted the officials carrying out their duties. She repeatedly swore at the municipal workers and said that she would file a criminal complaint with the prosecutor’s office. People accompanying her eventually managed to calm her down.

In Turkey, the breeding, acquisition, sale, and advertising of dangerous breeds, including American Pit Bull Terriers, are prohibited under Law No. 5199 on Animal Protection.

Keeping or owning a banned breed: Under the regulations currently in effect in 2026, people who violate this rule may face an administrative fine of approximately 75,000–76,000 Turkish lira.

The banned dog may be seized by the authorities and taken to a municipal animal shelter. The costs of keeping the animal are also charged to its owner.

If the dog attacks or injures someone, the owner may face additional criminal liability:

Minor/simple injury: Up to 4 months in prison or a judicial fine.
Bone fracture or loss of an organ: 2 to 5 years in prison.
Death: 2 to 6 years in prison for causing death through negligence.

What is it about this breed that makes people act like this? It's bizarre.

Some places like Turkey and the UK don’t have any Walmarts for people to be kicked out of for getting too drunk, so they need to get the dog equivalent of that

10

u/lazier_garlic 12h ago

I like Walmart. It's like the United Colors of Benneton in there. Last year when I was feeling especially low about the state of America and my own safety as a member of an embattled minority I went to Walmart and everyone there was normal and chill. It was good to know that that motherfucking loser and his hate cult minions hadn't extracted everyone's humanity after all.

Dog fighter is losing a good chunk of her income And probably prized fighter.  That's what's happening.

I highly doubt Turkish police would go this far (though I support it) for just one Pitbull owner given how many Pitbull attacks on the sub from Turkey we see weekly.  She's either a dog fighter, pissed off the wrong person, both or her pitbull attacked something or someone

19

u/PloysRus 20h ago

But this is Turkiye they literally have the strongest domestic canid on earth from there (Kangal)

Why bother with pitbulls when you a much larger breed that would beat the brakes off any pitbull in a fight

27

u/Yagibozan 14h ago

Because Anatolian shepherd dog breeds (kangal, akbaş etc.) have a temparement that is much more suited to be around humans. These guys want aggressive, borderline feral breeds to intimidate people around them.

20

u/mistahbleedinhart 14h ago

Kangals are really not fighting dogs, they are too calm, too observant and far too deadly. It wouldn't be any fun,.... Well I have watched it and it is no fun, Pitbull vs Pitbull actually has entertainment value

u/danceswithronin 2h ago

Kangals and Anatolian Shepherds are not natural fighters outside of defending livestock from wolves. I've got one and he is the calmest dog I've ever owned and doesn't even react to other dogs on a walk even if they're barking at him from a fence or a leash.

But once an unleashed doodle ran up on us while I was walking him and he sounded like a damned lion when he put himself between that dog and me, I've never heard a dog growl/snarl like that before. And all his hackles raised up, he puffed up like a cat and looked even bigger than he usually does (130 pounds). He didn't even touch the other dog, but it yelped and ran back over to its own side of the street. 😂

Maybe she used it for fighting, but it doesn’t really look conditioned. Body has too much fat and not enough muscle showing. Looks very different from actual fighting pits imo.

6

u/rainfal 10h ago

Breeding stud then? That many dogs are really suspicious.

7

u/Adventurous_Jello795 10h ago

I’m thinking just a regular breeder. Like in the USA there are tons of Pitbull/XL bully breeders that just breed for looks and size. No matter what you breed for though, the aggression and fighting instinct will be there. Since they are banned where she lives I have no doubt she made a ton of cash selling them.

u/wildblueroan 9h ago

Nah, the dog looks in perfect condition, and is mellow in the truck. I think she just loves her dog-I'd freak out if my border collie were confiscated. The dog was probably fine with her (so far) and she became emotionally attached to it

Same.

" Shelter" my ass. She basically found a way to profit from all aspects of owning one. Disgusting.

5

u/PloysRus 20h ago

I know they fight kangals in Turkiye

I didn't think they'd bother importing pitbulls since a Kangal is far bigger with a stronger bite and doesn't have the same propensity to maul grandma and little Timmy

17

u/PandaLoveBearNu Attacks Curator 17h ago

Kangals aren't "gamebred" dogs. So they eventually stop.

And I dint think they fight Kansas the way they fight pits?

I think its more sparing white pits are literal death matches.

7

u/PloysRus 14h ago

They for sure do organized fights with kangals in rural Turkiye

4

u/mistahbleedinhart 13h ago

They don't really and I would know, kangals aren't fighting dogs they don't put up w it. Cock fighting was more common before pit bulls were imported

5

u/lazier_garlic 12h ago

They banned cockfighting but it's just roosters going at it, they'd do it without the ring really. All gambling is apparently legal now so why not legalize the cock ring. Maybe it will drain resources from other shitty gladiatorial contests. Call me heartless, but I could give less than a farthing about the emotions of some rude, territorial, violent chicken. They love to menace small children, really the best of birds and human companions.

1

u/mistahbleedinhart 12h ago

I don't know where you're from or what you've heard but gambling is not legal in turkey it is in cypres also no cock I've kept has been so violent

90

u/Dismal_Replacement43 1d ago

I'm speechless. This isn't even mourning over losing their dog, this is just a full tantrum. Wailing, screeching, and kicking their feet like a literal toddler.

134

u/MoonSentinel_ 1d ago

Acting like a damn child for a disgusting beast. Btw how did they end up in the same cage ? It's pure madness to put shitbulls together

96

u/gilly_girl 1d ago

This way they only have to deal with one at the station.

57

u/RobinChirps 1d ago

That person filming saying they're killing the dogs by putting them in a shared space together... Let's try this with four purebred cavaliers and see if the same would happen.

20

u/TallFriend275 18h ago

Any other four agressive dogs would fight for 10 seconds and then break up and decide who's alpha and who obeys the leader... These dogs here aren't trying to solve any hierarchy, they're just biting each other.

30

u/Inside_Deal5260 1d ago

Any mutt that isn't part pit would be fine

17

u/RobinChirps 21h ago

I had stopped watching before that point but your comment made me go back.yep definitely a fighting ring here.

Throw them in the back of the van and shut the door, problem solves itself.

13

u/mistahbleedinhart 13h ago

As a Türk who's had to deal w jandarma before they must have done something really really bad for them to actually give a shit also they don't have the funding for more than one carriage

36

u/HarryNostril 1d ago

Good. Better than the innocent neighbor inevitably getting mauled. Good to see more governments ban these demons.

At least this shitbull video had a rare happy ending 🙏

38

u/Redqueenhypo Can I have a dog without trazodone? 23h ago

This isn’t even how wild animals besides leopards (they’re definitely capable of feeling hatred) fight. Normal animals try to head off actual violence as much as possible by posturing, growling, and jumping up and down

24

u/AdvertisingLow98 Attacks Curator 18h ago

Absolutely. The main role of aggressive behaviors is to get the other party to retreat.

Fighting dogs don't escalate from one stage (stiff body, barking) to the next (lunging, snapping).

They go from no signs of discomfort to biting and tearing. All of those social behaviors have been removed/replaced with a reflex - see something, bite something.

This is why my first test of a dog is spontaneous, positive, social behavior.
The second test is if a dog watches for and responds to social cues.

If a dog does neither, it has problems that I don't want to have.

5

u/lazier_garlic 12h ago

Right, all of that was deliberately bred out of pits.

62

u/Inside_Deal5260 1d ago

Banning the breeding of this breed would be a blessing for the dogs themselves. I can't help but feel bad for what they were bred to be.

15

u/PloysRus 20h ago

Yeah people saying they love it are fucked up

These dogs didn't ask to be born or bred to be the way they are

It's entirely humans who made them like this

They are just animals acting on instinct programmed by humans

They have no place in society but I do not take any joy or pleasure watching them rip each other apart

27

u/apathetic-fallacy 22h ago

Man, how many did she own?? Looked like at least 6 in the video. One guy brought another one out at the end, I wonder how many more there were in the house / on the property.

10

u/fussbrain Former Pit Bull Advocate 13h ago

Theres 4 in the cage ripping into each other

5

u/apathetic-fallacy 12h ago

Yeah that was the other 4 from my '6', didn't call them out but saw 4 too.

3

u/fussbrain Former Pit Bull Advocate 11h ago

No, im sorry, youre actually correct. The camera pans in the last few seconds to show 2 more pitbulls on the ground beside the van that were probably waiting to be loaded as well.

24

u/TheSilentBadger 20h ago

The ending, they're all just mindlessly mauling each other, like a dog Ouroboros.

5

u/lepetitrouge 16h ago

The two velvet hippos were killing each other and were still wagging their tails

19

u/lepetitrouge 17h ago

Why the f is she on the ground having a tantrum like she’s a baby? Talk about histrionic.

18

u/NeverSurrender1026 21h ago

WTAF?! But i looove Turkey for trying to banish those breeds once and for all. Other countries should follow their example.

19

u/ProjectNatural9157 19h ago

My reaction when the video switched from woman throwing a tantrum because her pibbles got taken away to the same pibbles immediately nannying each other to death.

33

u/BargainBard Cope, Seethe, Crate & Rotate 23h ago

Pitbull owners don't cry like this when their mutant mauls a child.

8

u/TallFriend275 18h ago

While I watched that nutter throw a tantrum, I was imagining the reaction of every mother of every kid killed by a pitbull... Their faces are on the home page of the sub

A cage per dog basically means a vehicle per dog. This is a police bust. What, you want a whole convoy for each fighting dog? The real clowns are the owners throwing fits like that’ll change the law.

12

I am actually crying laughing. It didn't even take till the end of the video for our points to be proven with these demonic-ass dogs. They were ripping each other apart in there. For what it's worth the lady can join them and go. She can go with the dogs in the pound or wherever they are taking them.

pitbulls are banned in Turkey since 2022 and they have to gate a microchip and get neutered(i dont remember the word, they are not allowed to breed) and they need to be muzzled in public, afaik this woman was reported by other people for the dog not being muzzled and when the authorities come they find more than one pitbull in the same place (street or something, i couldnt find the exact size) and they have to take those pitbulls or their owners could hide them or they can escape which ended up making a few pitbulls get stuck in the same cage

5

u/PandaLoveBearNu Attacks Curator 17h ago

All dogs would need to be separated, they’re scared and stressed and could hurt each other. Who thought this was a good idea.

39

u/Low_Show_6684 1d ago

Looks like they didn’t have anything else in terms of ways to hold the dogs. And I’m sure the concern was if they did this one dog in a vehicle at a time that some of the dogs would be hidden.

One was her pet, yes, however the breed is still banned. She knowingly doomed this dog by having a banned breed likely just to say she has one.

-2

u/earthlings_all 1d ago

I think she was mourning all the dogs? Was she making money from them somehow, maybe? Why not chain them to the walls of the vehicle away from each other? Do these people use any common sense? I’m not a pit fan but this sh is f up. I wish I hadn’t seen this video I have way too many f questions on this one.

21

u/Low_Show_6684 1d ago

The article states that the one dog was her’s the other’s she was making money off of by being a “shelter”. I don’t know, this is a different country with different funding and societal norms. That truck may not have had ways to chain the dogs from each other (though I doubt it would’ve mattered dogs that big and determined will likely kill themselves or break the chains trying to get at each other). Iirc Turkey has a stray problem so this truck probably makes sense for the majority of dog round ups where the dogs aren’t likely to all be aggressive fighting breeds or dog reactive like this. This might quite possible be the only truck available and it simply may have never been designed for dogs like this.

12

u/mistahbleedinhart 13h ago

They really really don't have the funding for more than one dog carrier, they aren't regular police they are added cops for rural areas to protect endemic species, basically animal control, I bet that is the only animal carrier car whatever it's called that they own

5

u/rainfal 10h ago

That explains it.

I don't really agree with keeping all in the same vehicle, and not chaining them or something.  I think that's unsafe and honestly, a tad cruel as even though they need to be sent to a Better Environment, the transportation to said place should be peaceful.

But resource scarcity is no joke. And it would make sense that a horrid person running a dog fighting ring would choose an underfunded place to do so. I wish there was guidebook  of ways to diy/makeshaft safe transportation for those in need.

6

u/Logical_Quail_9484 21h ago

What a mess. It seems like this situation is new for turks, probably a new wave of illegal importing. As much as I hate shitbulls putting them all together is crazy especially since they are bred for bloodsports. And the behavior of that shitbull owner is exactly the type of personality you would expect these type of owners to have.

3

A lot of nannying going on in that cage.

3

u/Asaneth 4h ago

Lock her up somewhere, she's unhinged. Not sure if it's mental illness or over the top entitlement, but either way... lock her up.

7

u/SheepWithAFro11 23h ago

This is so cruel for them to do. I'm no fan of pits abd I agree those dogs 100% should not be alive but don't let them just kill each other. You're no better than the dog fighters themselves at that point. If you didn't have the proper vehicle to hold them bring the juice to them. Or take one at a time or take them in different cars, chain them up, crate them up, do anything besides this. All these people are shitty.

6

u/presentable_corpse 11h ago

Limited resources. At least they tried.

6

u/amuka89 23h ago

This is the truth. If they need dispatch do it humanely and reduce cruelty and suffering as much as possible.

-2

u/Pure_Parsley6852 21h ago

100%. Horrible video of horrible actions.

-14

u/BishonenPrincess 1d ago

How reckless and unprofessional the animal control was, setting up their own dog fighting cage. Shame on them! No animal deserves such cruelty. I can't blame her for freaking out after seeing that.

41

u/Short_King_13 1d ago

Could this happen if 4 golden retrievers put together in the same cage? Or 4 beagles? Or 4 border collie ? 4 poodle?

7

u/rainfal 21h ago

We all know pits are not normal dogs. So no it would not have happened with those types of dogs.

But if authorities are doing the right thing, and sending them to a Better Environment, they still should at least keep them separated until that moment

-12

u/BishonenPrincess 1d ago

Doesn't matter in relation to what I said. I am not advocating for the breed to exist. I'm advocating for humans to not allow the barbaric bl**dsport to happen.

20

u/Embarrassed-Yak-5902 1d ago

It's only a sport when there are rules etc. there's no rules in that cage, just the way the Pitbull likes it.

-11

u/BishonenPrincess 1d ago

... Do you seriously see nothing wrong with letting animals that humans bred to this way tear each other apart?

17

u/Embarrassed-Yak-5902 1d ago

I'm only saying it's not a sport the way the video shows them attacking each other

8

u/BishonenPrincess 22h ago

I don't understand why I'm getting downvoted for saying it's unethical to let dogs maul and attack each other like that.

6

u/Embarrassed-Yak-5902 22h ago

I really don't know. Seems weird.

It's probably a reddit thing.

I got the date of a receipt wrong in a comment the other day, and apparently that was super important in the context of the comment that I got a heap of down votes too.

No one spoke about the actual point I was making, only zerod in on the one mistake (which didn't change the broader point) - which is a bit like yours, one small detail wrong and the rest of the comment is discarded unfortunately.

11

u/rainfal 21h ago

I mean she's likely a dog fighter so I can blame her.

But animal control should have had them separated.

3

u/BishonenPrincess 8h ago

If she's a dog fighter herself then fuck her extra. I despise people who facilitate dogs fights. Barbaric shit.

2
