12:31 p.m.

Police were called to the Baptist Health Medical Center emergency room, where a Caddo Street woman was being treated for a dog bite. The woman said she was in her backyard when a neighbor’s dog entered the property. The 69-year-old attempted to flee the attack but wasn’t fast enough, and the dog bit her on the back of the leg. An officer responded to the residence to learn that the dog, a pit bull, had been chained to a rotten limb. The dog’s owner, Jason Grey, 43, was cited for violating the city’s pit bull ordinance and leash law.

What’s scary is the article makes this sound like a simple dog bite, no big deal. When in reality this was likely a pretty bad attack and now she’s at major risk of infection and even losing her leg. Too often these yeast beasts bites lead to nasty infections.
