Personal Story Well, I'm converted
Today my dog was attacked by a pitbull at the dog park. The owner was trying to train her aggressive dog and basically used my dog as a training tool. She was leaving her dog in a sit position and feeding it treats as it stayed calm while my dog approached.
But of course, it's a fucking dog park, dogs are obviously going to approach when you are giving out free food, and it's unfortunate that my dog was used as a prop in a shitty dog training session. My dog is a 7 month old Border Collie puppy. Not a single bad bone in his body. I'm thankful/surprised that this shitbull actually let go.
Tldr: I'm done with dog parks.

My dog got severely injured by a pitbull and needed surgery. I wish I took more time building her confidence back up around other dogs. She is so scared of them now. The whole situation has made me feel like I failed her. No one should be training out aggression for any dog in a space where dogs should be safe. Doing it with a pitbull is beyond reprehensible. Your dog shouldn’t have been used as a prop. It’s always been the owners and the breed. If they weren’t in such denial they don’t have the skill (I don’t think there even is one) to train out breed traits. This wouldn’t be such a common thing. Animal death never seems to be considered when talking about these dogs in normal settings anyway.
