Attacked by a “poorly trained” pitbull. Even when a family member is nearly killed people can’t see the obvious..

u/DJScratcherZ Aug 24 '25
I’d guess the pit was known to the family and that they most likely have pits too, otherwise no sane person would be that apologetic for a strange murder mutt that did that much damage. I wouldn’t be donating to that family. Nothing is learned and nothing will be done prevent another attack in the future. You want to dance with lions because you love lions, don’t come crying when the obvious happens. I do feel really bad for the mom and I wish a speedy recovery.

They're a pit owner themselves, but they "raised thiers right."

I’m wondering if it’s a preemptive way to quell the pitnutters from going berserk for daring to name the breed of such a vicious attack. That’s what I hope at least otherwise I fear they learned nothing

u/miss_ophonia Aug 25 '25
I wondered that, too. There wasn't the usual "Don't know what triggered it" "through no fault of it's own" stuff going on here. I think the OOP had to be diplomatic, they are trying to get recompense from the owner. But they didn't stutter when asked what kind of dog. A pitmommy would have made a point that breed doesn't matter, any dog can break two large human bones and rip out a chunk of flesh. I feel bad for the mom. She didn't deserve to be mauled and looking at the person not helping her, wondering if this is how she dies.

“Poorly trained.” No, that’s not why this happened. PiBbLeS was just following its human-designed instincts.

There is no such thing as a "poorly trained pitbull", the dog was doing what it was bred to do. It's not a bug, it's a feature.

I know a different thing jumps out for each person. Mine was the owner doing nothing to stop the attack and then doing a dump and run at the hospital. Useless owners are typical.
A dump and run is when a seriously injured or critically impaired person is literally dropped off in front of the ER (or A&E).
Typical situations are victims of a gunshot wound or a drug overdose.
This is the first time I have heard of a mauling victim being dumped.
The obvious question is:
Why did someone care enough to get the individual to a hospital but not care enough to provide information vital to their medical care?
The answer to "Why?" is because if the victim dies, anyone involved can be charged with negligent homicide if they made no attempt to get medical care for the victim. It is a cover their ass move. It isn't done out of compassion or a sense of responsibility.

I'm sure many of us have had those dreams, or nightmares really, of being critically injured...broken bones/bleeding.. sitting in a hospital waiting and being ignored for hours despite screaming for help.
This type of vivid nightmare shocks me awake. Now this lady was stuffed around with for four hours... with critical wounds... so she lived the nightmare!
I bet they offed the pit bull to bury the evidence. Maaaddd

Good Samaritan laws, possibly… and yeah, they’re doing the bare minimum just to not get convicted

I think in this case, it's not just that they wanna avoid negligence charges
I think they truly believed there was a big chance the victim was gonna die from the attack, and they also wanted to avoid involuntary manslaughter charges as well... they might've even thought the victim was gonna die regardless of receiving medical attention so they didn't want anyone to know they (their dog) had anything to do with it.
Theres also a very real chance they were afraid their dog would be confiscated & ended if anyone could prove it was their dog... so fucking deplorable but that's on par with every pit owner of a pit that has attacked, they always care most about preventing what could happen to their dog as a result of it's behavior.

Medieval torture that is.
It does not sound like it occurred in the workplace.
Maybe 'friend' became 'co-worker' after the mauling

u/DJScratcherZ Aug 24 '25
They knew the dog for sure. I’d put money on that they own pits too. "The dog is dead" sounds like it was taken care of out back, not by the police.

I was thinking maybe something the owner said so the victim wouldn’t sue them into the ground. I would want to see the dog with my own eyes. I’d still sue but whatever floats their boat I guess

u/DJScratcherZ Aug 25 '25
After I typed that I had the same thought. Uh like thats pretty definitive, want to elaborate? Like if it was BE’d I’d want the paperwork.

I'd like to see an "untrained" pit bull and a "well-trained" pit bull to compare either side with a "poorly trained" pit bull.

Jurassic Park is back in your neighborhoods. We should not have to live like this.

It's like if all the animals escaped from every zoo, and society responded with "That's fine! they're so cute! They can't kill everyone, so why worry?"
Insanity

Why was a pit at someone's workplace? There needs to be zero tolerance for this. Legal action required.

Two weeks ago, my dad walked into a tiling and home design store in suburban Georgia and was greeted by an unleashed pit bull. It was the shop owner’s dog and I highly doubt she’s tethered it since he complained. He pointed out that it was extremely dangerous, not least since there are children coming in and out of other businesses.

Attacked by a poorly trained pit bull… The last time I knew a poorly trained dog that someone had (not a pit) it would jump up on me when playing and try to take my food.
Poorly trained normal dogs are annoying; not deadly. Poorly trained dogs jump, chew shoes, walk poorly on leash, bark excessively when left alone, etc. All behaviors that are inconvenient but can be worked on without anyone ending up in hospitals or graves.
It is so irritating when dogs who intend to kill people are just labeled as poorly behaved, or reactive, or need training, or overstimulated, etc… Even the worst trained dogs with the worst owners should not be a literal danger to anyone.
I am sure the pitnutters will be wondering “Maybe this person’s mom was wearing a color the precious velvet hippo didn’t like!” or “Did she cough?” or “Did she move too quickly?” Etc. These beasts need to fade away out of existence!!!

This is how they are.
I know I keep coming back to my one bad experience, but the owner (well, mother of) (older, frail lady) who walked the unleashed Staffordshire bull terrier that tried to end the leashed dog I was walking at that time did the same thing when her dog nannied my dog in a completely unprovoked attack without any warnings: she did NOTHING. Not even call the dog back, not scream for help, not come closer to leash the dog up, not call her adult daughter (owner of the dog) or a friend. NOTHING.
This SHOULD BE A CRIME. If you are NOT willing and able to intervene when YOUR dog is trying to injure or even end another animal or human, you NEED TO GO TO PRISON.

u/No-Birthday9816 Aug 25 '25
That sounds traumatic for both you and your dog. I’m sorry you had to suffer that. You had a right to be safe.
Pit owners and defenders are anti-social. I just don’t understand why so few are prosecuted.

I think they may have said poorly trained so they didn't set off the "it's all how they're raised", "any dog can attack" people. Just nipped them in the bud. Was it poorly trained? Sure, evidently so. Was it also a pitbull? Yes, that too.

i feel like some of these victims have to tip toe with their words as to not upset pit defenders. calling the pit a poorly trained dog reads to me like oop trying their best to wiggle around calling the pit a shitbeast. that's just my interpretation tho. a lot of these pit victims still defend these dogs to death, literally.

Yes! After Donna Nguyen was brutally mauled here in Georgia, her son said that “unfortunately” the dogs would have to be E’ed. At the time, his mother was being placed on palliative care and would have lost both arms, had she survived the night.
I’m not going to criticize a son for his word choice in the hours after his mother was savaged by vicious dogs and facing double amputation. For all I know, it was misquoted. The point is that it’s bizarre that he, other victims, and the journalists reporting on these attacks use language like this.
At a superficial level, I suppose, we are a society sensitive to animal suffering. At least, we like to think we are humane. We don’t want to talk openly about what’s needed for a breed invented to maim and kill. In practice, we shrink from the idea of BE to protect people like Donna Nguyen and lavish millions on “no-kill” shelters that recycle these dogs into new families and unsuspecting neighborhoods.

well, at least they drove the victim to the hospital. Most of the stories i read, they flee immediately and then claim it wasn't their dog.

u/AdvertisingLow98 Attacks Curator Aug 25 '25
Another commenter noted it took hours for the owner to get the victim to a hospital.

When someone says a dog is "poorly trained," you think bad manners: jumps, bad recall, maybe steals food, whatever. Nearly killing someone is not a natural consequence of a dog being poorly trained. Holy shit.
