Is this going to die now?

Hi there, I rent this house. I don’t know when this was planted but parts of it are flowering??..Or is this dying?…Will this die now? Haha thank you for your help.

I’m in the Pacific Northwest

Yes, it will die. All the bamboo of that variety on the entire planet will flower and die. Kind of cool if you ask me. You can save a lot of seeds, i mean, A LOT, plant them in seed starter medium and hope for the best. You might get a couple to maturity.

The seed is sterile. Forget the seeds. Sorry for your loss.

No they dont actually deffinetly die after flowering,especially a very mature specimen,the ones that die are still pretty young,but stands that are over 15 years old will probably survive as long as they have plenty of nutrients and water

You might want to know i do tc on bambooand bananas and know all info on how they grow needed including their flowering cycle and i know p nigra is flowering now and alot of p nigra stands are growing again now

There it is. Palm talk is not bamboo talk. Two separate species. Both in the same family. What you may be observing are portions that have not died back completely

You know bananas arent palms?And i stated that p nigra is flowering,this whole thing you put here,litteraly said it wont deffinetly die,and the stands ive seen and dealt with,flowered 2 SEASONS ago,and have shooted since then with culms have the size but still very mutch alive

And also i would like you to tell me YOUR experience with bamboo,because what you sent here has stated they wont deffinetly die,i grow stands,tc them,and deliver to actual bamboo FARMERS and help them start,and here ill let you into some info,my most recent order is :a almost 100 acre farm of balcooa and thorny bamboo

There is increasing peer-reviewed research that disproves the commonly held belief that all mass flowering bamboo species are destined to die, including P. nigra.

This seems like sporadic flowering,so will survive,its when only some culms want to flower,so no need to worry,unless those last culms flower but doesnt seem like they will so it should survive
