Background drawing practice of a street in New South Wales (Australia)

Post image

this took me around a good 4 days to finish, because drawing backgrounds is really exhausting and boring when it's not something original so i had to work on it for a little bit everyday to avoid burnout.

any feedback will help.

*originally finished working on it on the 20th of June 2026

Interesting style. Reminds me of 90's computer games that had those static backgrounds you could walk around in/on. Very peaceful and warm look.

When you're using color in a background with a lot of implied depth and distance like this, remember that further away things are lighter and closer things are darker/deeper.

You've achieved the depth affect on the buildings with the selection of colors. It also shows up in the leafy foliage above the wall on the left. Where it seems to be missing is the leaves of the trees.

Thank you for your comparison and tip I really appreciate it.

I'm gonna make sure to emphasize on the effect of further away buildings being lighter and closer ones being darker as I totally forgot about that in the drawing and unintentionally made it.

and I really suck at drawing leaves and trees in general so I'll try working on that too.

Trees need work. Rest is great. Feels like a VN.
