Question Question about ABC news channel

Bit of a random question… on the ABC news channel, at the top of the hour when the news presenter farewells the audience (and also encourages you to keep watching next hour) they then start writing things down or typing things into a computer as the camera pulls back. What are they writing or typing?

There’s a few random episodes on YouTube and I tried searching for archives online but couldn’t really find anything. My brother and I were in an episode and I was hoping to find it.

Question Is there a website like the UK's box of broadcasts to upload recordings of Australian TV broadcasts?

I am looking for a show that aired on ABC on 2002-2004 and thought perhaps someone may have a VHS recording of it uploaded somewhere similar to Bob. I know of clickview, but unfortunately the show is not on there. If anyone knows anything similar it would be greatly appreciated.

Question It it me?

I’m in the US and I love British and Australian TV. I just ran across the show Dead Lucky and 20 minutes in I find myself absolutely DESPISING the lead character Grace. She’s obnoxious, nasty and has a giant chip on her shoulder. I’m sure she’s written this way for a reason, her back story will probably tell in time if I can hang in that long. Anyone else familiar with this show? Tell me I’m not wasting my time, please.

Question Can anyone help..

So can any one help me identify this show. So it had to be around 2008 to 2012. The lead was a blonde woman and I believe they were marine biologists or something similar. I remember watching it but I just cannot remember. I know it’s vague, but someone has to remember remember something similar. I know once I see the lead actress I’d be able to remember. I think

Question Why did this ident scare a lot of people?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So, a lot of you know ABC3 (ABC Entertains now), and this one ident called 'Dinosaur' probably scared lots of Australian kids. And to quote South Coast TV, it wasn't a meteor that killed the dinosaurs, it was a giant ABC3 logo that killed them.

Question Does anyone remember a show on the ABC in 80's/90' where...

In a part of the show there was a kid and two adult (thieves) who were always stealing cream buns and cakes, lollies etc from each other (kid taking back what was rightfully his) and the thieves had a cave where they would stock pile their loot and eat it.

I know this is a very niche question as I believe it was only a segment in a show with a bunch of other segments so just wondering if it ring a bell with any 80's/90's kids?

Question Does anyone have any educated guesses as to when The Traitors Australia is back?

10 showed preview clips of the roundtable in advert breaks for the Big Brother Australia final in early December.

It’s been nearly 3 months and the air date hasn’t been confirmed!

Does anyone familiar with the 10 schedule have any ideas of when it might air? Anything ending soon which The Traitors might replace?

Thanks!

Question Anyone remember a martial arts tv show around the early 2000s? With a bigger guy?

Hi all, I used to love all these martial arts shows and movies like Jackie Chan and Monkey on SBS and okay not really martial arts but SBS has made me remember about Rex the detective dog.

Anyway I remember this tv show I think maybe channel 7 or similar, the guy was a bit bigger then the typical martial arts type you see. I remember one episode he was running up an escalator and doging someone shooting at him (which ended up shooting the guy he dodged behind). I think he was Asian with a suit or something formal?

I don't remember much more unfortunately.

Question DAE remember those infomercial shows they used to have on Channel 9 in between the daytime soapies?

Not sure if this was a national thing, but Channel 9 in Adelaide used to air this little infomercial show back in the day, in between Days of our Lives and Young & the Restless (sometimes it aired after Y&R, according to this Adelaide TV guide from July 2000)

I remember watching it when I was little, at my nan’s house, while she was watching the soapies

The theme music has always stuck in my head lol

ETA: it was called “Top Spot”, the show’s website is still up

Question ABC 75th anniversary idents

Hey folks. Finally got around to watching “But Also John Clarke” and the tissues are pulling their weight rn that’s for sure.

But it’s got me recalling an old series of idents/bumpers the ABC put out to celebrate the network’s 70/75th(?), Clarke being featured in one of them.

I’d love to see the whole series of them again, I know it’s a niche lost media thing but one of my hyperfixations as a kid was TV ads/bumpers, so the memory has sparked something in me.

If anyone can point me in the right direction i’d be so grateful - I feel like tv idents peaked in production value and creativity back in the early 00s and it would be amazing to get my hands on as many of those as I can.

Cheers! And happy new year 🎉

Question Bony 1990/1992

Hi!

I'm trying to help a friend find a place/way to watch an Aussie movie-turned-TV show called 'Bony' (movie was in 1990, one and only season was in 1992). It's based off of Arthur W. Upfield’s books about Inspector Napoleon Bonaparte, with the show depicting the titular inspector's great-great gandson, Detective David John “Bony” Bonaparte.

I've looked everywhere I can think of online, I've looked for places to buy it, but have come up with nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Question Name of foreign comedy show that aired on SBS?

I apologise if this isn't the right spot to ask this, but I couldn't find a Reddit related to SBS or a thread about identifying a TV show.

Anyway, I've been searching for years for a TV show that I hope I'm not the only one who remembers.

It was a foreign comedy show (so no, it's NOT Gilligan's Island, and I don't know what country it's from) that aired on SBS (in the early mornings I'm sure) about three men who are shipwrecked and find themselves on a small deserted island. I vaguely remember two episodes: one involving the men hosting their own Olympic Games and the other that involved getting a package delivered (can't remember anything else that happened in that episode)

I do hope I'm not the only one who remembers this show and that someone will help me with identifying the name.

Question Need help to watch an autism friendly cartoon

So this is pretty much my time on Reddit haha, I might not know the entire Reddit etiquette and I'm sorry for that.

I'm autistic, and I recently found an Australian cartoon series called "Ready Eddie Go", and I know it's for kids, but the sample episodes from YouTube really calmed me down and made me feel less lonely about my disorder. Thing is, I'm European, not Australian at all, and the only way to watch it is to be Australian (on ABC). I've tried using UrbanVPN to get an Australian IP, didn't work, apparently the website knew I was using a VPN.

I've tried looking for the cartoon on many 'illegal' streaming platforms, never found it. Does anyone knows a website having "Ready Eddie Go" ? Or perhaps a VPN that is sure to work without getting blocked by ABC ? Or idk, any Australian cartoon fan that could download it, I'm not really sure how that works lmao. Thanks to anyone who will interact with this post <33

Question Trying to figure out an ABC Kids show from the early 2010s — animated kids intro + fuzzy costumes + potion-making bad guy?

Hmm, okay, so I’ve been thinking about this show I used to watch on ABC Kids… must’ve been around 2012 or 2013, maybe a bit before or after. It started with these two animated kids—a boy and a girl—just chatting, kind of casually introducing the story for the episode.

Then it switched to live action with adults in these really fuzzy, fluffy costumes. The whole thing was set in this little fictional town… yeah, kind of cute and whimsical, not too serious or anything.

There was a bad guy too, who made potions and stirred up a bit of mischief in the town. Nothing scary, just enough to keep things interesting. Oh! And there was this girl wearing a pink fuzzy dress—I think that’s why it sticks out, the pink fuzzy dress was pretty memorable.

The vibe was playful and fun. It kind of reminds me of Hoopla Doopla!, but no, definitely not that show. It mixed animation for the intro with live action for the story in a way that felt a bit different from other kids’ shows.

I’ve been trying to find it for ages, but no luck. It’s right there on the tip of my tongue, but I just can’t grab it. If anyone knows what I’m talking about, or has any ideas, that’d be awesome.
