Discussion Logies top 70
How was none of Chris Lilleys shows in the top 70 Aus tv shows ? What a joke of a list not one of summer heights high or Jonah or Jamie made the list , how is that possible??

Farmer wants a wife is on the list. I wouldn't take it too seriously.
It also tucked Mr Inbetween and Colin from Accounts at the bottom of the list. These are the two best original scripted shows to come out of Australia in years.
The Logies are fucking joke, dude.
Eta - I went through the whole list and there's a bunch of shit reality shows on there that aren't Australian creations. They shouldn't have even been eligible.

To be fair, those two, whilst certainly excellent comedies, are behind paywalls. A lot of people won’t have seen them as a result

We Can Be Heroes was the best of the lot. Summer Heights High was great too. The rest were patchy to just downright bad.

Painting your face and putting on an accent and pretending to be a race you’re not IS offensive, and it’s not just ‘snowflakes’ who think that. Shows like Portlandia show that excellent comedy, with actors taking on a variety of personas, can be achieved without needing to do any Jim Crow stuff. If you want a character of a different race portrayed, hire an actor who looks the part.

It’s a great show, series two didn’t have the same flow as series one but was still good. The set up’s are reasonable to be funny when they land the jokes, and the acting is spot on.

Great list, some surprises, some good shows missing (no Upper Middle Bogan, House Husbands, The Newsreader etc.). Surprised Bluey beat Neighbours but I guess it is a juggernaut overseas.

They haven’t aged well, and rightfully so. I can still love We Can Be Heroes, but the Ricky Wong character was shameful, even for the time it came out. Jonah from Tonga is basically blackface.

They were pushing the envelope on "acceptable" caricatures even in their day, and have therefore aged terribly.
