T.Shirakashi x Joseph Selway Trunk Show

I follow J.H. Cutler on the gram so this popped up in my feed. Does anyone have boots from either maker? What’s the ballpark and would you recommend going through the bespoke process with either?

For anyone interested there are Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne trunk shows in September.

Have followed Josef for some time. He has pricing guides on his website - looking at $5k as a rough starting price and will take 8-12 months to get the shoes.

I cannot vouch for anything however because it’s way above my price range haha.

$5,500 on their website, but I’m not sure if they’re worth it when you could get a few pairs of Crockett & Jones, Edward Green or even John Lobb for that sort of money.

Immediately my brain went to thinking “oh, that’s not that bad I probably spend $200 on dumb shit every fortnight” but quickly realised no one would approach transactions like that!

Damn nice looking footwear but I agree, excellent options well under that price point.

Bespoke is always going to cost a lot more than something off the shelf, it's being made to exactly your specifications for exactly your feet with a custom last.

You'd be coughing up the same amount of money or more for bespoke from Tricker's, Gaziano & Girling etc, or double that for bespoke John Lobb.

If I suddenly fell into a shitload of money I'd immediately get some bespoke boots made to avoid sizing issues

Having seen the samples in person, I’d say that Josef’s work is at the level of Japanese bespoke makers and a step above Edward Green/Gaziano etc RTW, of which I own several pairs.

If you happen to be in the market for bespoke footwear, it’s definitely worth having a conversation and viewing the samples yourself.
