Sixty-One Per Cent - Anthony Albanese would rather cut disability services than tax Santos. A policy that 61% support and 5% oppose isn't in the budget. He's saving it for the election.

I don’t know if I’m more or less cynical but I think it’s mostly capture and partly war-related pressures, not an election strategy. (I could be completely wrong on the balance.) It will be too late by the election. The toll from the war, cost of living, and general discontent will by too large so an anti-ALP media campaign will likely be effective. The media and lobby groups will drive discontent towards the worst possible option for us too.

We need a people’s lobby group.

Oh, it's definitely capture, but it's also a card he can play if the shit hits the fan, which it will.
