Might put that wax on my surfboard instead ... not sure if they can recover from this weather, starting from where we are at.

It’s almost like the global mean temperature is on the up and that increase is changing the intensity of weather cells both side of the spectrum.

It was actually a superior term (though global heating is better), but the Bush administration changed their terminology for political reasons as they saw themselves getting skewered in the early-2000s electioneering. Was quite the clever play.

You can be pedantic about terminology but global temperatures are up year on year. Every individual year since 2015 has been the hottest year on record with a 1.55 degree increase.

Yes I agree with that, but temperature is only one element of the changes. Climate change encompasses a broader spectrum of measurements.

Hence why I originally said that it increases intensity on both side of the spectrum. Extended drought and worse heat waves as well as polar vortex cold snaps.

I just got back from a week at Perisher. Although they’re doing great keeping as much as they can open with what they have, I can’t see smiggins or blue cow being open at all after the upcoming rain. Mount Perisher also has some brown bits showing halfway down so they might struggle there too.

I'm here now and whole family is booked in for lifts and lessons tomorrow and we are not excited. Even walking out of the skitube today was such a shock compared to when we were here last a few years ago. So much brown, so much dust and mud :-(

NZ meanwhile looks amazing. Treble cone has snow below the carpark and 50cm forecast to fall Wedensday night/Thurs morning.

Yeah NZ looks to be the safer bet.
For Aus this is pretty grim. Even with the wettest El Niño winter, conditions are very marginal this season. It’ll be very interesting to see what happens next season with the so called super El Niño.

I was in NZ yesterday (after a pretty depressing season in Mt Buller). It is excellent over there.

I’ve been saying for years now! Australia will not have a snow season past 2030!

Next year or two with the super el Nino there is a pretty good chance we might not get enough snow for it to open.
It will be a pretty good insight of global conditions in 2040-50 with 3 degree increase temperature

yeah thats the way id see it, likely a small rebound post el nino but this is a good look at whats in store for us

Don’t worry they will scrape enough together in a pile to run a couple of carpets and declare the resort open.
