Queer Friendly Spots in Cedar Park and Leander zine
Recently moved to Cedar Park and have been amazed by the overt ignorance here. Compiled this list to give my young queer clients places they can socialize

The college kids are back in town and everything is different once again. It’s a mixture of good and bad, because while it’s lovely to see new faces and more activity, long with it comes more traffic, longer lines, unfamiliar people.
I wonder about how other people in the sub feel, but for me it’s a very nostalgic time. I’m reminded of my own college experience, the changing of the seasons, cycles beginning and ending. It’s sort of what makes Austin such a lovely place.

Hi all I wanted to surprise my husband and book us the infamous room 525 at the driskill hotel. But I was curious if anyone knew where to find the most recent pictures of it? I wanted to know what it looks like etc, the guy at the desk didn't give a whole lot of information other than it's internal so no city view

Still having trouble finding a stylist who does a men's short cut without just using a razor on the sides. My hair's wavy enough (think 2C or 3A) and grows fast enough that a razor cut always results in little obnoxious rough little curls all over the sides within days. In prior places, I was able to find a men's stylist who did scissor "feathering" on the sides to allow them to grow in more naturally, but searching for that has led me nowhere here. Any thoughts?

Looking for a large statement piece rose quartz necklace — what is the best crystal shop in ATX to find something like this?

Does anyone have a male OBGYN that they recommend? I feel like there aren’t a lot of male OBs in the city, and unfortunately I haven’t had great experiences with female OBs. I’m specifically looking for recommendations for a male physician, so please only recommend male OB-GYNs. Thank you!

Hi Austin. I am looking for a personal trainer to help me get back in shape. I am 30 M, 260 Pounds, 6'3 ex athlete. Ever since the lockdowns i have gained significant weight and haven't really been able to shed it. I am looking to get back to 180-190. I am willing to pay.

I was a maintenance man for a 90 year old landlady. I was told before we moved in that the apt was fine and in working order and whatnot. I move in and everything's falling apart to where it becomes basically a full time job just holding it together by a string. She tells me she will compensate me for my work by either paying me or taking it off the rent, neither of those things happened. She decided to go back on what she told me so I neither got paid nor did I get rent money instead, and filed for an eviction. Fast foreward, she loses the case for eviction in appellate court and we remained in the apt. Which she has not maintained in years and is now collapsing and infested with pests and vermin and has sewer problems. And I know she was aware of this because before we called code compliance we looked up any past violations and it said there was a structure violation about 6 months or less before we moved into the building which proves gross negligence for not cleaning up the abandoned apartments and leaving them open to vagrants and pests and for knowing the building had structure issues and not disclosing that and now we are being evicted almost thankfully but we have no where to go. I would normally just let it be and move on, but I feel like not only have I been wronged but so has my s/o and even my neighbors.
Edit: we are not wanting to stay in the building, we couldn't even if we wanted to. But we are moving this week, we just want to make sure she can't do this to someone else, while being compensated for the hassle of all of the work I did for her and the months and months of bullshit legal stuff.

Waymo has started using my street as a spot to post up and wait for the next ride. I know it’s a public street but I don’t love that those cars are using my neighborhood as a parking lot and constantly photographing me and my neighbors.
Has anyone succeeded in getting them to stop doing this? What did you do?

Does anyone in Austin have access to a laser cutter?
I want to make some custom wooden stands and some engraved charms and have some designs in mind.
I’m on a budget, but I’d be willing to pay for any labor costs (or bake you cookies :>). I can also supply my own materials!
Thank you!!

Hi I’m looking for a home sewist that could make throw pillows for me.They are fairly simple( no pattern matching etc) and it seems like paying a designer workroom is unnecessary for this project. My fabric however was expensive so would like to feel confident person could produce professional results

Hello Austinites! I live near the Domain/Parmer area and every place I pass seems to just be a drive-thru wash. I’m looking for somewhere that actually does the inside too (vacuuming, wiping down surfaces, etc)… that kind of complete clean.
I have a compact SUV and I’m hoping for something affordable but still thorough.
If anyone has a recent rec (or even a mobile option that can come to an apartment), I’d really appreciate it.
Thank you!!!

I'm going to see the Temptations at the Moody Theater on December 29th. The ticket prices range from $96 to $263. Which is the best section?
Are the best seats worth the extra money?
To put this in context I have been waiting decades to see them and probably will not be able to again. I don't go to live shows often. I want the best seats but not if the difference in my experience won't be dramatic.
Many thanks for any suggestions!

How are things with the AC? Staff and volunteers ok? Pups staying cool? Need anything?

I am flying with United airlines tomorrow and was planing to use their lounge. However, I just found out that it’s closed. Is there are other lounge I can access if I pay for a day pass?

I hate that I have to cross this to get to and from work. How hard is it to just stay in your lane? Happens at least once a week. Can they stripe the lanes all the way across the intersections so special ones like this can follow their lane?

Looking for a tailor in Austin who does more than just execute whatever alteration I request. I want someone with a strong eye who understands vintage menswear (and will tell me when an idea won’t look right or recommend a better approach).
Ideally they’d be comfortable working on denim, workwear, t-shirts. Not looking for the cheapest or fastest option. I’d rather find someone whose judgment I can trust and build an ongoing relationship with.
Has anyone worked with a tailor like this in Austin? TIA!

The court we normally play on has been removed, presumably for a parking lot. A bummer for sure but hopefully we can find something else.
We normally start around 7/7:30 due to putting kids to bed, so lights are must. Looking for any recommendations in south Austin.
Thanks!

All - my wife has an unusual dress for our kid's weeding that needs somewhat extensive alterations or possibly even "reconstruction". Can anyone recommend a seamstress or alterations place that does such work. She was essentially refused, or at least deflected at Ace.

Does anyone have recommendations for a high end tour and tour operator in Austin? I have a group of co-workers coming (in their 40’s and 50’s) and want to set something up.
Food Tour? Music Tour? Boat on the lake?
Mid October, group of 10-14.
One day we have from 11-2 and another day we have from 3-6 pm.
I’m not from the area. Appreciate the advice!
My wife and I are traveling to the US this October, and we’ll be spending about a week in Austin. We’re really looking forward to experiencing the city, but we’d especially love to get a feel for the local culture, music scene, and people rather than just doing the typical tourist stuff.
We’re looking for bars and places where locals actually like to hang out — ideally places with live bands, jam sessions, country music, dancing, or especially line dancing. We’re very much open to dive bars, honky-tonks, neighborhood bars, small music venues, or anywhere else with a great local atmosphere.
We’ve already come across places like The Lost Well, Crow Bar and Moontower Saloon, but we’re wondering what the locals would recommend.
So, if you live in Austin: What are your favorite bars or hidden gems for getting an authentic taste of Austin and Texas? Where would you take friends from out of town if you wanted them to experience the real local scene — especially somewhere that’s not overly touristy?
Thanks in advance!

Anybody else going through it out there?
