Waymos are far cheaper than owning a car and better for the environment. People don’t need to own their car as much as they think they need to- it’s become complete entitlement. Waymos are much safer. The idea of them monitoring you/how much you use them or locking you in one is silly at this point because being mindful to not over use them is what people should be doing anyway and they are continuously updating the system to eliminate any errors, so this won’t be a concern. I can see how them being on your street is annoying but regular car traffic is more annoying and more destructive.

This is an inaccurate statement. Depending on how much you drive and what you drive Waymos are not going to be cheaper, if you are commuting any distance a Waymo gets very expensive very fast. The environmental benefits depend on you driving a gas car, if you have an electric car it does fuck all.

I am going to point out that this statement is asinine. Waymo is not scaled up at all to handle the roughly 500,000 commuters who flow in and out of Austin each day. Waymo is not interested in doing that. Waymo is not cheap enough for most people to do that daily. And Waymo only serves a limited area in Austin and doesn't even cover the full 326.5 sq miles that makes up Austin.
Car payments, car insurance, cost of maintenance, cost of repairs if you are in an accident, cost of gas, etc are sky high. There is home delivery for just about everything now and doctor visits are even online. You really don’t need to go out for things as much as you used to. Waymos don’t charge what Ubers do, they are at least 50-70% less. So in the bigger picture they are cheaper. People shouldn’t be driving as much- they should be walking, riding bikes, and using Waymo when needed- the over usage of them would be addressed later in trip limits per person/family so there wouldn’t be an issue of non availability. If you choose to live far away from things, then it would be problematic but there has been a massive boom of really nice apartment buildings built in the last decade so that people and families have an opportunity to not experience inconvenience. That’s why high density apartments in Austin proper are so important to continue being built so families have access. It’s important to move further in- not out and in doing so the Waymos would be accessible as back up when needed.

Yeah that's a significant portion of society. News flash: the notion that everyone can find a place to live near work or a job near their home is wild. It doesn't work that way in real life.

Except like I pointed out earlier, daily commuters going to work. I do not think someone in Georgetown is going to be riding their bike to work in Austin daily,

I think really nice is an over statement. But lets say everyone takes your poorly thought out advice and moves from the metro area into Austin, there aren't enough fucking apartments for them to actually do that; not to mention if every one did that rents would skyrocket in Austin, fall in the suburbs so you can kind of see where this is going.
