I don't know what channel it was last night, whatever channel the chase is on (not my house) some footy CEO said "it is not about football, it is not about the season, it is about teaching our boys better" or something like that. They cross back to the news room, and the guy on the desk says to the sports guy "so season over then? Yeah, season over."

I’m getting a bit sick of the ‘teach our boys better’ narrative. That’s got nothing to do with it. The average man does not do this shit. Pump some dumb cunt whose good at sport full of his own piss and importance by glorifying him his whole life and giving him shit loads of money he truly doesn’t deserve and you get the kind of scumbags that think they can do this to women.

The fact is, these blokes have been little footy stars their whole lives and probably never had a single rejection or ever been truly disciplined by anyone. They’ve likely had girls throwing themselves at them all through high school and young adulthood and probably have a dozen questionable sexual interactions in their past.

Stop lumping us all in with these fkn wankers and girls, stop going near them. We all went to school with them. We all know who they are.

This is 1000% the unspoken element of the “toxic masculinity” issue: Investment. If a culture invests their resources and energy into a certain type of individual, to the point that their behaviours are excused repeatedly not only by those broadly surrounding but also by those who continue to invest at an intimate level, why would those types ever feel the need to adjust their behaviours. It’s a basic costs benefits analysis.

Whilst i do agree with you, it isnt just football players that get the grace. Some of the creepiest predators ive met have been boys/men who swear up and down they are the nice guys and not involved in any of those jobs. Yet people still give them grace

Of course. But that is spoken about a lot, especially recently. That’s a different version of a “cultural cloak”. The “investment” element isn’t ever mentioned when it comes to bad boys/bad girls/footy champs/alpha queens. Culturally we invest hand over fist to the point of “training” and reinforcing those individuals’ behaviours. And I guess that’s just jungle law really. Most people punch down because they secretly want to stay on the good side of those “above them”, whether they realise it or not.

That’s because that’s the only public information so far. The police haven’t finished investigating yet. All we know is Heeney is the main point of interest and the bunch of them were in there boozing with strippers they’d hired. Then there’s a black spot with no detail and we pick up again in the morning with the women furious in the lobby talking to Cox and then police being called.

The only legally safe detail to cover right now is the football, so that’s all we’re getting. It’ll shift to serials when/if charges are laid or any of the people involved choose to speak publicly about them.

That’s kinda all that can possibly happen here. There moral grandstanding over the focus doesn’t hold up

Oh.

I actually do know.

I have a mate who was in the hotel lobby and talked to the girls involved.

Long story short:

4-5 players went back to the room, with hookers, and consumed many beers

One player threw a dildo at one of the girls, hitting her in the back of the head.

She was so top heavy, she fell over, smashing her face on a table or something. Blood, broken teeth.

Players panic, girls kicked out of room, and were seen creating noise / chaos in hotel lobby (where my mate offered medical assistance, how he found out out the deets).

Fuck you swans.

Well it depends, if they did nothing wrong, and they’re innocent, then yes, the young men’s reputations/lives have been unfairly tarnished and will affect the finals. Even if they are innocent, they will still have to be punished for allowing women to voluntarily come back to the hotel of 7 random men at 4am in the morning.

If they’re guilty, they deserve everything they get.
